I totally agree! He’s one of my favourite cast members. I do think his humour is a little more surreal than is typical for the show - his weekend update appearance as the strange movie critic was one of my favourite things that has ever happened on SNL, but it was very different. And I hear that his stand-up can be a little strange and surreal too. So perhaps that’s why he doesn’t get as much screen time as some of his castmates. But he is incredibly talented, and I think his Eric Trump and Man Who Just Bought a Boat will be remembered on SNL for a long time.

I think one of the reasons he wasn’t featured much in the past season may have been because his wife had their first baby a few months ago. I wonder if he asked to be featured in fewer sketches or took some days off so he could be at home, especially with the difficult circumstances of the pandemic. Or maybe he just wasn’t in a great writing headspace, with everything going on.

Hope we see a lot more of Alex in Season 47!
