insp. post:
sorry for being annoying about pluribus, i enjoy reading posts about it but it has been a little frustrating lately to see a lot of posts (not from any of the lovely people i follow, though they have surfaced on my dashboard) disparaging opinions on pluribus that cast the hive as anything but outright evil. and it’s frustrating because that’s just not an objective truth! the writers have said that’s not true, and i don’t see any reason why they would be duplicitous about the morality of the hivemind when, by all accounts, the show’s aim has always been to present viewers with a thought experiment that is intentionally tough to grapple with. and hey, maybe their approach wasn’t effective! but if people are going to disregard this and do a purely textual analysis, i think they should at least still retain something of an open mind given that the show’s writers’ stated intentions run counter to their interpretation. like i guess my biggest issue is it feels like people are getting annoyed with others for having different interpretations (“different” is the key word here, because there are also plenty of outright wrong interpretations and i’m not talking about those lol) of a show that… deliberately invites multiple interpretations of its text
You’re incredible and you’re so generous. And I wouldn’t be here without you and you mean the world to me.
