- a night of experimental sound and audiovisual art, HAGnight has a regular line-up plus featured sound, noise and multimedia artists, hosted by hannah thompson and stephen scutt of GPUD | violnTendancies. each night features a range of established international performers, sound artists, noise bands, circuit benders, electronics wizards, digital mystics and vjs. hannah and steve are graduates in audio system design, with performance and design inspiring the other in a constantly evolving feedback loop, whose ethos lies in the blurred line where the creative arts meets science and technology in the collaborative spirit of shared learning and cooperation of the open source community and the technological autonomy of diy electronics - based in south london, performing in regular noise events, exhibitions and festivals in UK and overseas and broadcast on specialist experimental sound and cultural radio stations, such as sonicaFM & Resonance104.4FM -

deeply personal song that features an actual deer that i actually saw on the side of a hill by the sea (cf concluding lyrics). we both stood looking at each other, below the long curved horizon of trees and open sky, on the ridge way above weymouth, frozen in a timeless moment which inspired me to write this. i guess, to be honest, against my true nature, i have to accept that it is a common-in-the-garden love song to insect-boy

HAGnight 17 presents DOUBLETHINK in a night inspired by Orwell’s 1984 - at spitting distance from the invocation of the Ministry of Truth - Senate House - we are taking down the thought police in the home to radical free expression -  The Horse Hospital’s Chamber of Pop Culture The Colonnade, Russell Square, London WC1N 1JD on Thursday 30th November from 19:30 we’ve got .  .  .  .  DJ Oliotronix, Disinformation and raxil4 plus the usual suspects - Orlando Harrison, AatschlaG (seen skating above)  & GPUD chopped into 2 halves by the thought police

plus

an interactive sound installation featuring the 2016 archive from ‘The Memory Hole Machine’, an installation created for Senate House Library at last year’s Being Human Festival ‘Ministry of Hope and Fear.’ Memories from ‘The Memory Hole’ rescued from the Ministry of Truth, can be played back, through the evening.

As we live through the consequences of 2016 and the meaning of the banal strap lines of politics today, posted on the barn walls of social media, are chipped away at to fit the evolving reality, from the promises of the past while we invite Big Brother into our houses even buying our own telescreens and then carrying them with us, where ever we go.

Fragmental track ii - both track i and track ii are processed field recordings from the Old Kent Road public art work, a supermarket automatic door, the london transport system and people of aldgate, holloway, peckham and burgess park. the digiX (with 32bit ARM 84MHz MCU) is used, in the arduino IDE, extended with an sdcard, touchscreen, a PIR distance and light motion sensors for The Auricle Sound Art Gallery and Oenosthetic Winebar Exhibition in Christchurch NZ: London - A Sonic Fragment, with it’s own Fragmental wine selection !
