I just learned yesterday that Pikachu, my favorite Pokemon, was originally designed not by Ken Sugimori (he only finalized the design), but by a female graphic designer named Atsuko Nishida.Â
Also after googling her, I found out that sheâs also designed Sylveonâanother favorite PKMN of mine. Sheâs also illustrated some very pretty Pokemon cards!!
Thank you Ms. Nishida! :-) May you get more credit and love for your contribution to the Pokemon franchise.
as a camera shy person myself, knowing she hides behind plushies is just amazing
Her and Yoko Taro are legends at hiding from cameras. xDÂ
Hereâs some other Pokemon sheâs designed, for anyone curious:

and not to derail this post into anything overtly political, but: If it werenât for a woman in the gaming industry, we wouldnât have freakinâ Charizard. I feel like thatâs something more people should know about!
I swear from now on whenever someone asks me when I was born, my response will be âin the late 1900sâ

âAnd you defeated him soundly.â
âI concur. It was no contest.â âQuiet you sniveling sycophants. Itâs true I went through a great deal of trouble replicating the Pharaohâs deck, strategies, even his perfectly quaffed hair. In fact, that part is what took the longest. But still! It wasnât the real Pharaoh, so I didnât really beat him, and until I do my scars of defeat will continue to burn! Fire whoever designed that bottle! KaibaCorpâs products shouldnât bend that easily.âÂ
This guy
Seriously. He knows if you're genuine or just praising from fear.
Be genuine, be might even compliment you

Yugi I understand your situation, really.Â

So that smile, the one everyone always points to as his gentlest and sincerest smile in the whole show? Is also distinctly sad. Because he knows itâs over. He knows the final blow is coming. But when Mokuba comes running over begging for forgiveness, he forces a smile anyway. Itâs like heâs going âno kiddo, shh, itâs not your fault, itâs fine, itâs gonna be fineâ
And meanwhile he can see that blast coming from over Mokubaâs shoulder, you can see it in his face in those last couple shots. But itâs too late to do anything about it. Itâs too late to save either of them. So in his final moments all he can do is put on a brave face for his little brother and lift his arm like he still believes theyâll reach each other in time.
Iâm crying right now⊠T_T

Hereâs the whole video. Itâs called âDonât Be A Suckerâ and itâs 17 minutes long.
donât just scroll past this actually watch it, itâs only 2 minutes long. If you re-recorded this today word for word with modern actors and places, it wouldnât even look out of place as a PSA
