The Very First | Hinata Shoyo x Reader
Hinata Shoyo had been experiencing many new things since he started high school... and among them, his very first date. And even, his very first confession.
Genre: Fluff. HighSchool!Hinata
Warnings: None.
Words: 1.9K
Notes: Hinata on his first date... what could be cuter?
Original Post ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Hinata looked at himself in the mirror. He checked his hair. He had tried his best to fix it, but some strands of hair seemed impossible to tame. He had managed to side part it, but it still looked messy. It was slightly leaning to the left side which somehow gave him a more formal appearance. He passed his hands through them one more time, and yet, a couple of them went in different directions. He sighed and had to settle for it. He would be late otherwise.
His eyes drifted down his outfit. His short-sleeve, button up shirt was impeccable. It was clean and ironed. He had made sure of it. He had carefully taken it back to his room the night before once his mother was done ironing it, and had hung it on the back of his door, trusting it wouldn’t get ruined there.
His hands were clammy and the slight pink on his cheeks gave away how flustered he was feeling. He wasn’t even there yet and he was already losing his nerves. He wanted the date to be excellent. He had gone through enough public and personal embarrassment for it to not be great. For starters, you were great. With the thought of you, a hand flew to his chest as a warm sensation spread everywhere in him. Whenever he thought of you, he got that same ardent feeling. That had been why he had asked you out. It had taken a little time, but he had eventually realized what it meant—what you meant for him.
He shook his hand and slapped himself on both cheeks. He stared at the mirror one more time ignoring the new redness of his skin. It was time for him to go. He left his house and headed to the subway. He decided not to take his bike. He could ruin his outfit and he would arrive all sweaty. It wasn’t like him to care too much about his personal presentation, he really wanted you to see and know he was making the effort.
He arrived at their meeting point ten minutes beforehand. He smiled pleased. Arriving early was a great way to start the date. You wouldn’t have to wait alone for him. He would hate to arrive and see you standing there all by yourself, waiting for him to show up. He sat on the bench closest to him and used the time to relax. He inhaled deeply but one his feet began to tap and tap on the floor. Both his hands were also tapping on the bench. He was definitely still very nervous. His stomach growled. He wasn’t hungry at all, it was just his body acting up.
‘I can’t throw up here. Not here, please,’ he mentally told himself. He had brushed his teeth twice. Twice. He wasn’t going to kiss you that day, and he knew because he wasn’t ready for something like that. If he even dared to do it… then he would throw up thanks to all the anticipation and the stress of finding the right moment to do it. The sole idea made his stomach ache worse and he had to use all the strength in him to walk away from those thoughts.
Hinata bent forward, squeezing his eyes and doing breathing exercises to keep his head cool. But as he tried to stop his head from revising every way in which the date could go wrong, a pair of shoes appeared in his line of vision followed by your voice.
“Did you wait much for me?” you asked, catching her breath. Hinata lifted his head in a quick snap and all of his worries simply vanished once he focused on your eyes. His mind went practically blank for a couple seconds and then he abruptly stood up.
“Not at all,” he quickly answered, taking a good second look at you.
His heart was pounding harder than before and he could feel his cheeks growing warm. You looked different out of your uniform and what he could tell were nicer clothes. You were too pretty.
“Shall we go?” you asked, also wanting to erase the blush on your face.
“Yeah, yeah. I said I would take you somewhere. Let’s… let’s go,” he mumbled as he examined the surroundings, moving his head to all sides.
His mind began picking up where they were and remembering the way they were supposed to go. He had planned the entire evening. As he looked around, a store with bright, pink walls was what triggered his memories. You two had to pass that store and then go left.
“It’s this way,” he said with a more confident smile, back to his usual self.
You allowed yourself to be guided by Hinata. He was being clearly cautious of his every move. If he was going to be described by some close friend, the term ‘introvert’ wouldn’t be said at all. But at that moment he felt unusually timid to the point words had trouble leaving his mouth.
This didn’t go past you. You could say you knew Hinata well. You could name some of his favorite things and even the little quirks he sometimes did when he didn’t realize, like how he squeezed his hands into fists whenever he strayed inside his mind—just like right now.
You cleared your throat and began describing the shimmering day. The sky was blue without a cloud, and while that meant the rain wouldn’t ruin your day, you two most probably would end up with a sunburn on your faces. Hinata felt the corners of his lips twitching into an involuntary smile. He was grateful for your small talk. The pressure he had put on himself slowly lifted as you kept going, now talking about the latest little adventure your best friend wanted to take you to. You seemed to be completely relaxed, and that helped him do the same. He reminded himself why the two of you were there. You weren’t a stranger he had to impress. You were… you. With who he felt comfortable, who he trusted, who he laughed with every day between classes. Everything was going to be okay.
The place Hinata had chosen was an ice cream shop famous for their eccentric flavors. Getting something fresh and sweet during the heat of the summer sounded like the best idea for him. He wanted to do something cool, something different—but still not go overboard. It had been Sugawara who had suggested the place to him in secrecy for obvious reasons. He was nervous enough to then have his entire team on his case.
He had begun to explain everything about the place as soon as it appeared on their field of view with the intention of creating anticipation. It was clear by how small the place was and the lack of people inside that the shop was indeed quite new in town. They were welcomed by the cold breeze of the air conditioner, sending a chill down their backs.
They headed straight to the counter. The rainbow of options appeared in front of them. The white, small cards in front of each flavor also include the little list of ingredients each flavor had. ‘Summer Nights’ apparently was a mixture of orange, apple and honey—and that was one of the simplest flavors they had to offer.
Hinata tried to focus on picking his own flavor, but he kept stealing glances at you. You were way ahead of him, asking the guy on the other side to give you a small try from the two different flavors you were split between. He was practically gawking at you as he stood still on the same spot pretending he wasn’t.
“Are you going to pick it or not?” asked an older voice. The other guy behind the counter looked at him without patience. Hinata nodded with panic and took the small spoon he was offering at him. He had left the guy literally hanging there.
“I have mine,” you announced. Hinata blinked twice with the small spoon still in his mouth. It wasn’t the tastiest flavor he had ever tried, but it wasn’t too bad, so he only nodded to the guy who still stared at him bored.
“Please find your table, and I’ll find you in a moment,” replied the guy as if he was reading the phrase from a script.
You two chose a table and fell back into complete silence. It wasn’t an award one. It was more the type of silence where you could feel the other waiting for you to say something but being lost for words yourself. You were looking around the place as if you were at the Sistine Chapel—surrounded by beauty that demanded to be seen when you were at an ice-cream place.
Hinata fiddled with his thumbs under the table, stealing fleeting glances at you. Why was it that you two seemed to be able to talk about everything at school, but the moment he was finally alone with you… his mind went completely blank?
After minutes of silence and staring at everything but each other, he finally leaned into the table with a question in his mind. You turned to him when you felt the table moving. You locked eyes with each other and his heart fluttered. His mouth stayed ajar and his voice was nowhere to be found. Soon enough, two cups were placed in front of them.
“Enjoy it,” said a girl this time around, who in contrast to the other two guys, had a gentle smile on her face.
When Hinata returned his eyes to you, you were still looking at him, waiting to hear whatever he had to say. He couldn’t even stand himself at the time being. He was so chatty at school. He always greeted her, even laughed with her. Maybe it was the weight of the situation that had eaten his tongue. It wasn’t a normal day. It was a date.
You suddenly leaned on the table and stole some ice cream from Hinata’s cup. “Mmm good choice. I still like mine more, but yours is good, too,” you said and then pushed your cup closer to him. “Want to try mine?”
Five seconds later, he nodded. He picked up his spoon and scoop some of your ice cream. His eyes opened. “Aaaah, yours is really good!”
“I know, right?” You took a spoon full from Hinata’s again. “Maybe we should share,” you offered, followed by a nervous chuckle. “I liked the one you picked, too.”
“Well, I like you more than my ice cream,” he said.
While you perfectly heard what he had said, your brain still took a minute to process it. You went completely red and Hinata choked with his own saliva when he realized what had slipped from his lips. “I-I mean, I like your ice cream more than my ice cream. Th-that’s what I wanted to-to say!” he rambled as his own face turned even more red than yours. His own thoughts had betrayed him.
“It’s okay, Hinata,” you answered. You swallowed thick and tried to be as confident as possible. “I mean, if we’re both here it is because we both like the ice cream,” you said still with rosy cheeks.
“Y-yeah, exactly!” he immediately answered as he ate some more ice cream as if by swallowing more of it, he would also swallow his shame.
You sighed.
Hinata hadn’t picked up what you had meant to say at all. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

In this world, it's easy to know who is your soulmate, but how you find it, it's a complete surprise. Well... meeting your own soulmate was not only in a very premature moment in your life, but it came with a very awkward price. 'Poor Akaashi Keiji' is a thought you would spend your entire life repeating in your head.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
You were having one of those days where it seemed the universe was on a personal mission to make things worse and worse for you. You had been the chosen joke of whatever superior force ruled the world.
You had stayed up very late into the night since it was a Friday. You had zero plans scheduled for the rest of the weekend and you had found a new television series that had ended two years ago and its six seasons were all available. You would have the entirety of your Saturday for yourself anyway. Or well… you had thought.
What had happened instead was your best friend calling you continuously at nine in the morning, to the point the sole buzzing of the phone successfully woke you up. You were quick to point out the day and the hour, cursing her for running your plans of waking up until after noon and staying in your pajamas for half the day. However, she didn’t apologize.
“Did you seriously forget about the Fukurodani Open Day?” your friend questioned, almost offended.
“That is till next week,” you reminded her, dropping your head back on your pillow hoping you could end the call and try to sleep a couple more hours.
“Uhh, no. It’s today.”
“What? It was till the sixteenth,” you insisted.
“Today is the sixteenth.”
You had blinked twice and removed the phone from your ear to look at the date and time. It turned out your friend was completely right. You gasped and jumped out of bed, showering your friend with apologies. The plan you had made was to get breakfast together and then head to Fukurodani together. Your friend had a crush with a guy from the basketball team. She had seen him a couple months back during a tournament game. She had been there to support his younger cousin and left the place furiously investigating everything about the school and team. As she had landed her eyes on the Open Day event, she had made you promise you would go there with her. And still, you had completely forgotten.
The plan was to go there, find the guy and have your friend talk to him and try to find out if the ‘hello there’ she planned on saying appeared on his right wrist. Neither of you had an indication if he could be ‘the one’, but your friend was so infatuated, she had sworn it was an important lead.
You took a quick shower and rushed to your closet with your hair wrapped in a towel. You didn’t have time to meticulously choose your outfit for the day, so you went for a safe option. Comfortable denim shorts and a flowy t-shirt tucked inside together with your favorite pair of sneakers. You didn’t have time to even put a bit more effort in your appearance, so you relied on your sunscreen and mascara. You always had a lip balm with you and that would have to do. You left your house and rushed through the streets. At that point, you didn’t have time to wait for the bus. You only had your legs and your will to make it up to your friend. But it seemed you couldn’t trust your body either because the tip of your sneaker got stuck on the edge of the sidewalk as you finished crossing the street and fell forward. Thankfully, your left leg managed to keep you steady but your right leg wasn’t so lucky, and so, your right knee met with the harsh concrete and got scraped. You hissed in pain as two older guys tried to check on you. You lifted a hand at them, silently letting them know you were okay. Truth was… you hated being late. You hated being in a hurry. Nothing went well when one was in a hurry and that day was proving it. Your wet hair had managed to wet the back of your t-shirt and you had forgotten your sweater, so now you were kind of cold and with nothing to help. Also, your sneaker had a dirt mark on the front and your knee hurt and was bleeding.
You couldn’t run anymore, but you could hop very fast… and you did that for the next five minutes as the initial recoil on your knee went away and you could properly step on your foot. You still couldn’t pick up the pace, but striding was possible and you kept the rhythm. Instead of meeting your friend at the little diner where you were supposed to have breakfast together, you met her at the entrance of Fukurodani. She had sustained a stony expression on you, trying to emphasize she was still not over you forgetting your plans together, but as soon as her eyes drifted down to your knee, she gasped.
“What happened?”
“My feet betrayed me,” you sighed. “It doesn’t hurt that much anymore.”
“We need to clean it, though. It looks bad.” Your friend suddenly stretched her hand to you, handing you a small paper bag. “Also, got you an egg sandwich.”
You simply raised your arms and dropped them around her in a thankful hug. You could really sit down, go silent for five minutes, and have some food. Tired of waiting, your friend grabbed your arm and you two went inside. You allowed your friend to scan the board where all the activities were written down so you two could finally try to make the fateful encounter happen. Your stomach grumbled, then. The smell of the egg sandwich was alluring and you decided to not wait anymore. While your friend searched for the basketball demonstration, you could start munching down on some breakfast. But life was not done with you yet. As you opened the paper bag, a sturdy body crashed lightly against yours, but with your knee in a weak state, it was all it took for you to lose your balance. With two clumsy steps forward, the paper bag slipped your hands and crashed on the floor. You watched as a stranger who had been mindlessly walking through the hallway kicked it.
That was it. You couldn’t take it anymore. Throwing any patience or manners out the window, you turned to see the guy who had crashed onto you. He was tall with short, messy black hair. He looked worried and was about to speak, but you didn’t let him.
“My egg sandwich, dude,” you snarled, and stomping your feet you went to get your food. You picked up the paper bag and looked inside, afraid of finding it in a complete mess. However, the sandwich had been perfectly wrapped up in aluminum paper. Maybe it would be a little mangled, but everything would be in place and ready for you to eat.
You stood up and found the same guy still staring at you with both eyes wide opened, his right hand lifted. You frowned at him, unfairly taking your anger in what was an obvious accident. As you stepped closer, meditating about apologizing for your attitude or not, you finally saw it. On his wrist, the words ‘my egg sandwich, dude’ were marked like a tattoo.
Your brain registered what that meant in a heartbeat. All the air in you slipped through your lips. The guy in front of you... the one with the same startled expression as yours was your soulmate… and you had forever marked his wrist with the stupidest phrase you had ever uttered in your entire life till that point.
Your soulmate. Right there. In front of you.
In a hurricane of uncomfortable emotions, you covered your face with both hands as a strong, overwhelming wave of heat struck your neck and it painfully crawled up to your ears and cheeks. Your whole face was beyond warm with embarrassment. You heard the steps of someone approaching you and you just knew it wasn’t your friend by the sensation of a tall presence looming over you. Your friend wasn't that tall. By then your friend had most probably taken notice of what was unfolding.
“Pleasure to meet you,” he said, using what you could only describe as the gentlest voice you had heard. And he also smelled nice. It was a mix between mint and soap. Clean and soft.
You couldn’t cover your eyes till he got tired and left. You assume he wouldn’t. Well, if he did, it would be disappointing. Your soulmate couldn’t give up on you… and neither could you. It would be equally horrifying if you decided to ignore him to the point he decided to leave you alone. One couldn’t choose how they were going to meet their soulmate, and yours happened to be a tad unfortunate. Nothing to do about it anymore.
You slowly moved your hands away from your face and lifted your eyes as you felt a tingling on your own right wrist. You finally got a good look at him—he had thin features and was fondly smiling at you. Why wasn’t he annoyed even in the slightest? He would live with a horrible sentence on his skin forever.
You turned your eyes to your wrist, seeing the words ‘Pleasure to meet you’ on it. It was so nice and so polite. It was obvious he had picked his words carefully once realizing the situation, making sure the words meant to be on your skin forever were something good.
He had been cautions enough to say the perfect thing.
“Uhm, I’m going to go ahead,” your friend said, a cheeky edge on her words. “Don’t leave without me, okay?”
“No, of course not!” you hurriedly assured her. “I’ll text you.”
She gave you a thumbs up and did as she said, leaving you alone with your soulmate—a soulmate you still didn’t know their name.
“Your knee is bleeding,” he said before you could ask for his name. “Let’s get that fixed. Follow me.”
You nodded, holding your stupid egg sandwich against your chest. Your hunger had dimmed but that paper bag was the only thing helping you find stability for the time being. Your legs wobbled with every step you took. You had never been one to feel confident about love—you had even stopped thinking when or how you would find your soulmate, afraid it would take your entire life to do so—and now everything was happening in the snap of a finger, in the quickness of a breath.
He signaled you to wait for him as he approached a table with two older ladies. He pointed at you and continued talking. You were right. He was incredibly polite. His stance didn’t shy away, but just by the way he stood and the tone he used, he was respectful. That was nice. Your mother would like him a lot. Your cheeks burned again at your thoughts. That had to be the next, right? You had to start dating. Or well, maybe you could know each other first. Was it possible to not like your soulmate? You had never thought about it. You felt the urge to take out your phone and quickly search for all those answers but by then, he was already coming back at you with a first-aid kit hanging from one of his hands.
“You can sit there,” he said, pointing at the benches lined up against the walls. Again, you could only nod and obey.
You thought you would sit down and he would maybe sit beside you and hand you what you needed for your knee. Instead, he placed the first-aid kit next to you and he knelt. You panicked, quickly muttering ‘no’ over and over again, motioning with your hands for him to stand up. He completely ignored you and got a gauze and rubbing alcohol, and proceeded to clean your scrape. You slightly hissed at the first touch and he apologized, which you found endearing. The wound was no way his fault and he was being beyond nice for getting on the ground and taking care of it. You could already see yourself gloating to others about the gentleman the universe had chosen for you.
In no time there was no more blood on your skin and you could see the scrape wasn’t as bad as the bleeding had made it seem. It would form a scab for sure, but nothing more.
“Thank you so much…” you said, lingering there for a minute. “I still don’t know your name.”
He smiled as he put the bottle of rubbing alcohol back into the box. “Akaashi Keiji. What’s yours?”
You told him yours and repeated his name a couple times in your head. Your eyes went back to his right wrist and a chuckle escaped you, still in disbelief. “I will have these nice words on me, but, I… I just ruined your wrist forever.”
He took a look himself at his own skin and brushed a thumb over it, pale skin stretching but the words not going anywhere. He smiled again. Or had the smile ever left his face? You couldn't tell.
“No, it will be a funny story to tell,” he calmly stated. You smiled back at him, allowing yourself for the first time to relax around him.
Needless to say, that egg sandwich was left untouched and forgotten to the side.

Late Night Study ~ Sugawara Koushi x Reader
All you wanted was to be in bed, cozy and wrapped around your boyfriend's arms. Instead, you were in the cold library, begging amidst sleepy eyes to call it a night. Why was Koushi so damn responsable? Original Request
Genre: Fluff. College!Sugawara
Warnings: None.
Words: 1.2k
Notes: What's with me and writing so much about studying lately? I swear I don't miss studying.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
“Come on, get your head up,” Sugawara insisted between whispers for the fifth time in the last half an hour.
You had your head lying on top of the notebook you were supposed to be studying from—not sleeping on it.
Sugawara took your head carefully with both hands and elevated it till his eyes met with yours, practically forcing you to look at him. Your eyes felt heavy and you could tell he probably felt the same. Right under caramel eyes, two dark half-moons overshadowed the usual shiny, pale skin. Your lips perked up in a tired pout and your eyebrows slightly furrowed. You were utterly displeased by the whole situation. If it was up to you, you would be in your dorm room, warm under a blanket with your boyfriend pressed against you and your laptop playing a movie for you two to doze off to. Instead, you were in the cold library under the horrible pressure of an upcoming final exam.
“We need to study,” Sugawara insisted, only causing your frown to deepen. He muffled a lazy chuckle. He lowered his hands so they were now wrapping your cheeks and he gently squeezed them, making your pout more pronounced. He chuckled again. “Just a little bit more. It’s a hard test.”
“I know,” you sighed, setting yourself free from his playful hold. “It’s just… I rather we were cozy in my room. I’m tired and cold.”
You rested your back on the chair and threw your head backwards, shutting your eyes immediately before the heavy lights above you made them hurt. A few seconds later, you felt your arm being pulled, bringing your body back to the table. You were met with Sugawara’s begging face, silently pleading you to at least try. You sighed and nodded, giving in. He was not going to leave the library just yet, and you were definitely not leaving without him.
You rested your elbows on the table and focused on your notes again. You felt his smile on you, and for a moment, that smile inspired you to actually study and not just stare at the sentences on the white paper. He had been the one to help you organize your notes into an incredibly well detailed guide. He was right… After all the effort he was putting on helping you study, you could at least try a little harder.
You began from the top of the page, reading each sentence twice and sometimes thrice just to make sure the information was properly allocating itself in your brain—which was a massive challenge. Your eyelids got heavy again and the perfect silence of the space made it impossible to hold onto something that would stop you from closing your eyes. Eventually, it was inevitable. It was past ten in the night and you had been awake since six in the morning coming and going through exams and classes. Your head fell on your hand and then it slipped until your forehead met with the cold paper in a dry ‘thud’.
The sound of a hand slapping skin could be heard next as Sugawara covered his mouth, doing his best to stop his laughter. Even though it was late, you two weren’t the only ones in the library. A couple of students were already throwing shady glances at you thanks to the loud noise your forehead crashing on the table had made to then have Sugawara laughing out loud, disrupting everyone who was successfully focusing unlike you.
“Come on, we can do it,” he whispered to you once he had calmed down. You nodded, already knowing you were done for.
You sighed and pretended to read from the page, but you secretly used your arm to cover your phone and began trying the games you had downloaded there. It had been months since you had touched them but for the time being, they were the best you had. You peeked at your boyfriend. He was completely immersed in his notebook, using his pen to follow his lecture. It was better to not bother him. So, you turned your head and began playing your little mobile game in mute. Maybe you couldn’t study, but at least you would make him company.
Just like Sugawara in his study guide, you got completely lost in your game. So much, you hadn’t notice twenty minutes had gone by until you were called out, being caught
“Weren’t you studying?” Sugawara asked, perplexed. While you slightly jumped at his voice, you didn’t bother to move your head which was practically laying on the table. You only moved your eyes, directing at him. The dark circles around his eyes had just gotten worse and now you could see the thin red lines of the veins of his eyes. He was truly forcing himself to get through his study guide.
“Koushi… let’s leave,” you pleaded, then sat straight before continuing. “What’s the use of staying up studying if you’re going to be tired during the exam?”
This time, he didn’t rebut nor sent you straight back to your notebook. This time, you saw the hesitance in his face and how his fingers played with the corners of the notebook. Any sign of exhaustion in you disappeared at the sign of him wanting the same as you.
“Come on,” you insisted, leaning more into the table till half your body was on top of it and both your arms covered his notes. “You’re tired, too.”
The answer you got was something you didn’t expect. With his elbows on the table he elevated himself so his lips caught yours in an impossibly soft and slow kiss. It wasn’t coming from a place of lust, but because of how sluggish and weary he was. He was giving you all the energy left in him into that kiss. On any other occasion, that type of kiss would melt you into a mess of hormones–it still kind of did, but you were too tired to flirt. He pulled his head back and tilted to look at you. You could see from the corner of your eyes the people on the table next to you watching the little love-show you were putting up. You responded with another peck on his lips.
“Is that a yes?” you asked.
Sugawara nodded. “Get me out of here.”

Helloooo thereee ! ☺️
Revamping progress.
So... I know a lot of people are anime only, but so many of my old requests would be better if I use the time-skip. Maybe because I'm older I'm more down to writing about older characters... but I don't know. I'm such a simp for the time-skip. I love watching the boys being all professionals. There's certainly a charm to everything. There's the beauty and innocence of teenage love and first-timers. How the smallest of touches or crossing eyes can send your heart into a frenzy. But there's the excitement that comes with the freedom of being an adult and the limbo of knowing what you're doing and realizing you might not really know. It can all be fleeting but it can also become a forever. You need to try in order to find out and that can take you places.
I love writing about Haikyuu!! because it truly allows you to explore so many things.
But oh well... I'll have some new works published soon. I was just deciding which characters should be next. A lot of Bokuto and then there is a lot of Oikawa, let me tell you. So, I'm trying to see if I can mix them up a bit.
Equation: I Love You / Tsukishima Kei x Reader
Confessing to Tsukishima Kei wasn't an easy task. He was unreadable and too nonchalant to be certain you were making the right guess. But not trying seemed a worse option than finally coming clean with your feelings. But when the answer seems so uncertain... maybe confessing on paper was a better idea than speaking out loud.

Your heart beat rapidly. You had been planning this stunt for the past week and now the time for its execution had come. It had to be perfect, otherwise, you would crawl into the deepest hole to never be seen again. It was unfathomable you were about to give this a try. The person you were six months ago wouldn’t believe what present you were about to do.
You didn't fall for Tsukishima Kei right away, but you fell hard once you did. You sat side by side at class which made ignoring him impossible, especially in those stances where you had to work in pairs. Some teachers allowed you to choose your partner for the class, but others wanted to avoid too much of a mess and simply indicated to work with the person on your immediate side, which paired you with him more than once. As time passed, you two managed to develop a friendship. The sarcasm and the mocking were two languages you shared. It was fun and it was silly. Of course, until your heart began beating way too hard for your liking every time he crossed the threshold into the classroom completely disregarding everything around him with his headphones on. Those few seconds before he began acknowledging the world gave you the time to stare a bit longer. That’s how you realized you had most definitely fallen for the blonde.
You didn’t try to change anything in the routine. You kept your calm and pretended nothing had changed in you at all. However, months went by and you grew more impatient the bigger your feelings became. You wanted to believe the little notes he threw your desk when the teacher gave her back to the class meant something. There he would write a snarky commentary of sorts only for you to read—which would most often than not made you held your chuckles back. Or the way he lingered a bit longer in class even when it was clear he was ready to go because you weren’t ready yet. He didn’t say anything, he just stood there with phone in his hand but as soon as you were done, he would finish whatever he was doing, too, at the same time. Little things like that had given you the courage to come up with the unconventional method you were about to use to confess your feelings to him for once and for all.
Both Tsukishima and you were smart, you knew that by heart. You two were in an advanced class for a reason. But that didn’t mean that you were good at every single class. He was better than you in science but you beat him at math. More than once he had approached you with questions he would ask trying not to act as bashful as he was. That’s how the idea popped into your consciousness as to how you were going to go about it.
And with that in mind, you got mentally prepared to do it and patiently waited for him to struggle in math class so he would come to you.
Surely, the opportunity appeared.
Tsukishima was slightly frowning at his notebook as they did the in-class exercise the teacher had assigned. The back of your neck bristled with a cold sweat. Here it was. The moment you had been waiting for. Your heart slammed against your ribcage. You couldn’t walk back now. You would regret it. You had planned it. It was quick and easy. Embarrassing? A little. But not as embarrassing as evoking the words out loud. You would never be able to say it. It had to be like that if you stood any chance of doing it. And so, you cleared your throat loud enough for you to hear. He looked at you from the corner of his eyes.
You offered him a small smile. “Do you need some help, Tsukishima-san?” you whispered making sure the teacher didn’t hear her. He nodded and then with his fingers made a sign that meant ‘later’. As of now, they couldn’t talk much which meant you couldn’t do anything but keep to your own paper. However, if tradition followed, after class he would be meeting with you with all of his questions. That’s when it needed to happen.
As class went on, you found it troublesome to pay attention. Your mind was divided between what the teacher was relentlessly writing on the board and how you were going to advance with your great idea. The more you thought about it, the more you debated if you should do it. You began pondering on the option that maybe Tsukishima would ask to go over the class another day. He was constantly busy with volleyball practice and it wouldn’t be unusual either. It would give you time to either think things over or prepare mentally a bit more. However, as the teacher announced there would be a benchmark test at the end of the week to make sure everyone understood correctly, you knew you would have no time. Tsukishima wasn’t one to risk a bad grade like that. He was practical. If the solution he needed was at hand, he would take it without thinking twice. And he did like you had expected. He had asked you to stay a bit more after class to go over the new topic.
Now you were here, staring at the stupid math example you had written on your notebook—an example you wrote beforehand on your notebook with the help of the image you had saved on your phone so you could copy it perfectly. Tsukishima had pulled his chair to your desk and you could feel his gaze on you, waiting for you to explain what he was supposed to be looking at. The thing was, the mathematical problem for your gimmicky confession looked nothing like what you had seen in class.
It was now or never.
You took a deep breath and grabbed the eraser from your case. You were going to do it. No turning back. You placed a hand on the notebook as to keep the sheet of paper in place and to cover the lower half of the equation, and with that, you began erasing the upper half. Once this was done, you faced another issue… you had to move your hand so he could look at the secret message. You suddenly lacked the strength to move it away.
For your disgrace, it was him who moved your hand away with an exasperated huff. He most probably was thinking you were messing with him. It was so out of pocket for you to be this ineffective when explaining something. He clearly didn’t understand what she was doing, and he was getting impatient with the silence.
Both of you got frozen in time. He clearly saw what had become of the equation, and you were unable to lift your eyes from your lap and find out what was his expression. You thought you could do it, that you could face whichever his answer was, but now you only wanted to fly out of the window on your left.
The desk trembled and with a new curiosity in you, you lifted your eyes only a little. He had laid his elbow on the desk but that was all you could see. So… you lifted your eyes a little more. He had taken off his glasses and was covering his eyes with one of his hands. His lips were pressed in a tight line and you could see the heavy blush on his face.
“Like this,” he whispered, “you confess like this.”
Your eyes lingered on him before you could find your voice again. “Yes,” you whispered back. “I thought… it would be, I don’t know, cute.”
Tsukishima removed the hand from his face so he could look at you. He was more embarrassed than you, which was easy to see. You were nervous, but his entire face was pink. You two stared at each other speechless. You had shown everything you wanted to say, and he was lost for words.
“You don’t have to give me an answer right now. Or you can say no, too,” you declared hastily. “I’ll be fine whatever it is. You don’t have to stress about it.”
He snapped his tongue. “Stop,” he pleaded. He took a deep breath but he still didn’t grab his glasses. It was a strange image to see him without them. It was nice either way. “I mean, let’s go out then,” he said so fast it was almost impossible to understand him; yet, you did and nodded equally fast.
Of course, he wasn’t one to say he liked you back straightforward or do something like you have one. But it was more than you were hoping for. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

ECLIPSED [Kuroo Tetsuro x Fem!Reader x Tsukishima Kei]
If Kuroo could go back in time, change one instant of the entirety of his short life, it would be that fateful evening when she strolled around at the same time Tsukishima Kei stepped into the Nekoma grounds. He would do anything for her to never know of the existence of the blond. But he couldn't do it, and now he had to deal with the repercussions of such a fleeting moment in time. Original Post

With everything one does, small or big, there is always the possibility that it could go wrong. We never have the entire confidence that something will go as planned or imagined. Kuroo was aware of this, especially as the captain of a sport’s team where losing was half of the possibilities each time they stepped into the court.
So, when Kuroo fell in love with one of his classmates, despite the joy the feeling could bring, he inevitably made a list of everything that could go wrong. And more often than not, unrequited love didn’t have happy endings, and life didn’t disappoint him.
_____ had always called his attention. She had something that his eyes found attractive and soothing. If they were in the same room, his gaze would directly go to her, so when she appeared around the training camp, he noticed her right away. He had been surprised to see her, but glad all the same—ignorant that her presence there, on that day, would haunt him for months to come.
_____ had been walking with her friends around the installations of their school with her friends, probably there to do activities of her own after-school activities. At the moment he thought he was the luckiest guy on earth to have caught her before she could leave. He politely said hello to her, and she and her friends reciprocated the greeting before he started making small talk with her. They were good friends after all; there was nothing suspicious in that.
But in the current state his life was, he wished he’d never stopped her right there.
Within a couple minutes into their conversation, he had to interrupt it due to the big yellow bus arriving. He smiled and let the girls know all about the Nekoma long-time volleyball rival—Karasuno. He talked with confidence trying to impress the girl for whom his heart had a special preference without knowing he was digging his own grave. He should have told them it was time for him to go, so they could have done the same. But no, he had gotten greedy. He had wanted to impress her. He had wanted more time with her.
Kuroo received Karasuno with his casual pose and a half smile. In his mind she was looking at him attending his duties as a proud captain. It was silly, and almost stupid. However, he thought it was a unique chance for him to show-off.
Sadly and completely out of his knowledge, her eyes weren’t on him as he was thinking. Her eyes had diverted to someone else, and all of her attention was taken away from him. She couldn’t stop staring at the tall blonde that had stepped out of the bus. Her friends were snickering as they saw their friend blushing.
That was the day when Kuroo’s personal nightmare began.
The next Monday she had approached him with millions of questions about the training camp. Kuroo felt excited. It seemed she was having a new interest on him and that was more than he had hoped. It was a short-lived victory before life grabbed his heart and smashed it against the cold hard floor. With a sweet, shy smile and flustered cheeks that melted him to the core, she made the question that shattered him.
“I’m a little embarrassed for asking this but… uhm… who was the tall blond guy?” Kuroo must have made a funny face because she decided to expand her explanation a little further. “You know, from the team that came from Miyagi.”
Kuroo knew whom she was talking about.
He knew damn well.
He cleared his throat aware that if he didn’t his voice was going to come out shaken, almost broken. “Why?” was all he could pronounce.
Now she was the one who looked surprised. He bet she didn’t expect him to question her and he should not have done it since he had no right to sneak his nose into her business, but he needed either confirmation or relief. He needed to know what was going on or he would drive himself crazy trying to figure it out on his own.
She shuffled a little in her place before answering. “I mean… I feel curious, I just want to know his name.”
Kuroo closed his eyes and faked a smile like he was a professional actor giving the interpretation of a lifetime. If he had already dug his grave, he was about to put the first nail on his coffin.
“Tsukishima Kei. Middle blocker,” he said. Her eyes shone with the name, making him want to give up the fight. Suddenly a little, but incredibly important detail came to his mind. It was like a lifesaver being thrown at him before the furious ocean could swallow him whole. “He is a first year. Two years younger than us.”
“Uh, really?” she asked. He could hear the slight disappointment in her tone, and he hated himself for finding satisfaction in that. “He looks older.”
“Well, he’s tall for his age,” Kuroo shrugged. Whatever had bloomed in her for Tsukishima that day, he hoped it would wither away just as quickly.
“He really is,” she showed a faint smile. “Well, thank you Tetsuro.”
“You’re welcome.”
With that she disappeared. Kuroo had a mix of emotions. He might have ruined her newfound crush in Tsukishima, but that didn’t make him feel any better. It didn’t mean her feelings for him were changing. It really didn’t mean anything positive for him. He at least thought she was going to forget about Tsukishima in a week or two like most girls did.
Man, he was dead wrong.
Only a couple days later he had caught her talking with one of her friends in class. She was cheery and excited, and her hands flew everywhere as she talked. People said that curiosity killed the cat, and it was painfully ironic how much that saying applied to him.
He had heard what he shouldn’t have.
The age difference hadn’t done anything for what she felt. She was talking about Tsukishima, about how much she liked his looks and how she had finally found him on social media. His hands became tight fists and his nails clenched into his palms. He felt tears welling in his eyes and he had to make a superhuman effort to keep them in place, to not let his frustration show. He stood up from his place and left the classroom. He didn’t care if he missed classes or even volleyball practice. He didn’t care about any goddamn thing.
Time went by but nothing seemed to get better. Kuroo kept hearing about him. Tsukishima’s name reached his ears more and more often. The way she pronounced his name killed him and made him feel despair. He cursed the day he met her on the street. If he only had let her go her way she would have never seen him. She would be unaware of the blond and Kuroo would still have his shot with her.
The next time Karasuno came around Tokyo for another training weekend, he couldn’t help the sea of emotions that was currently eating him away. As soon as Nekoma had a match against them, he aimed his best spikes at Tsukishima. He was tactless with his attacks. So what if he hurt him? A bruise on his arms, a chipped nail or a sprained finger was quick to heal. It wouldn’t compare to the way his heart broke every single day.
He ignored the inquisitive looks some of the Karasuno guys threw at him. He was being more aggressive than usual, who cared? He would let them guess. That had been his initial attitude until Yaku practically yanked him and cornered him against a wall. He was smaller compared to Kuroo, but he always proved to be surprisingly strong.
“I don’t know what’s gotten into you, but you don’t have to be an asshole to others,” Yaku had said sternly and with a deep frown.
And he was right—it wasn’t Tsukishima’s fault. He had no idea the girl Kuroo loved was currently crushing on him. For god’s sake… Tsukishima didn’t even know the girl existed. And if Kuroo let his mind play a little, he would dare to say that even if he knew, he wouldn’t bat an eye about her.
What else could he do? He was currently under control of his emotions. He had never felt such a thing—such blinding jealousy. The pain he was feeling was a new experience, one that was shadowing his good humor and opaquing his easy-going nature. He wanted to forget it and never live again. His chest hurt every time he breathed. Every time he looked at her, he felt as if a hammer was smashing against his system destroying his sanity. What used to be joy, now only felt like torture. Her face no longer meant happiness. Being around her caused him nothing more than frustration. His chance with her had been ripped away from him. How was he supposed to deal with that?
And if Tsukishima wasn’t at fault and he had no right to say something to her, what in the hell was he supposed to do? He needed to vent his pain or he would go insane.
He blamed himself and blamed destiny—or coincidence. Whatever force had brought her to that exact street at that exact hour. Couldn’t she understand he was younger? Or that he lived in another prefecture? The possibility of them meeting was close to impossible, and then you had to add if he would even pick an interest in her. It was all too complicated. He wanted to scream those things to her face as his last attempt to make her forget about him.
Why was she crushing on someone so unattainable? he asked to himself. “Why Tsukishima and not him? Not him who was there, who was the perfect option. There for her, available to her, yearning for her. Why not him? Why? Why? Why?
Then, amid the desperate rant going in his head, he looked at himself in the bathroom mirror. After Yaku had put a stop to his hostile treatment towards Tsukishima, he had decided to excuse himself to the coach asking for a small break so as to level down his head. Given the last thirty minutes of the match, the coach had agreed. Kuroo felt embarrassed. Everyone had noticed his childish behavior which was so strange of him.
In the reflection, he did not only see the droplets of the splash of water he had thrown at his face but the tears rolling down from his angry eyes all the way to his chin. He looked defeated, and anyone who saw him would be able to tell how shattered inside he was, too.
The answer was right there in his own reflection. For his own sake… He had to let her go.

You watched Bokuto as he was carefully reading. The papers on his hands had a clean calligraphy full of colors encircling or underlining certain parts of it as to highlight the most important information. He was so focused in his lecture, he was oblivious of the pair of eyes nestled on him, unable to look any other way.
It was impossible not to look at the last months of your life in review. Without knowing what was truly to come, between study sessions, little talks at the hallways, and volleyball matches, you had put yourself in a complicated situation. It all began when you had accepted to be the tutor of Bokuto Kotaro—volleyball star of the Fukurodani Academy. He had approached you with his notebook hanging casually on his hand as soon as class was done. You had seen Bokuto talking to your professor before class started and had noticed the older man discreetly pointing at you more than once during their brief conversation, causing cold sweats down your neck every single time he did. You had guessed he had pointed Bokuto towards you for a reason, and he hadn’t waited to let you know why he was now standing right before you. Bokuto had gone into a small ramble about how his grades needed to improve if he didn’t want to have trouble with the volleyball team. While this was happening, you remained silent, sitting still in your place. You didn’t have it in you to add to the conversation, and even if you did, you wouldn’t find a space to do so given how fast he was going.
Everyone knew Bokuto was not only the captain of their successful volleyball team, but he was the ACE of said team and one of the best players in the prefecture. For him, the sport wasn’t just a club but his whole career and future after high school. For him, every training and every match was a step towards where he wanted to go in life. You were aware of this information because you had been assisting every Fukurodani match even prior to enlisting as a student. One of your closest friends from middle school happened to have an older brother who attended the academy and happened to be a regular on the volleyball team. Your friend had asked you only once to join her to see her brother play, and from that moment on, you would always tag along with her.
It was around the time you and your friend had joined Fukurodani together that you had learned the name of Bokuto Kotaro and all about his potential and goals. And then it had taken just a week for you to put a face to the name as your teacher role call and he made himself be known in its unique and energetic manner.
You had happened to be in the same class as him through your three years in high school but you had never talked. He was too much of an extrovert for you to date to come close. Even when you sustained a friendship with almost everyone in your class, his fired-up character never made it easy for your shy nature to approach him. Just looking at him made you feel overwhelmed. So, while you might probably be a stranger to him for most of your school years together, you were very aware of who he was.
You weren’t the most brilliant student, but your name was always found among the best grades of your year. With this, you weren’t that surprised to find Bokuto standing in front of your desk with that confident smile of his and unusual yellow eyes glowing at you. You had always found him imposing when he was on the court, and you were realizing having his undivided attention was equally intimidating.
After his small rant about the conundrum he was between his grades and the volleyball team, he had mindlessly grabbed one of the chairs belonging to another classmate, and dragged it so he could sit in front of you. Classes were over and the students were slowly making their way out of the room, leaving the place empty for the two of you. Your hands were clamping on your lap.
“Mister Abe said you have tutored a couple of people and you could help with mine, too,” he continued explaining. You were able to guess where it was going. He wasn’t there to just take pictures of your notes like many would usually do. You indeed had helped a couple of her classmates to better their grades. You could be shy, but you had never said no to lending a helping hand. “So, do you think you can help me for the next exams?”
Your heart was hammering on your chest as a nice smell of soap and something fresh came from him. You have never imagined the day would come where you would need to spend time one-on-one with the captain of the volleyball team.
“Yes, of course. I can help,” you said softly, feeling your cheeks growing warm. His presence was strong and demanded to be felt.
“Hey! Great! Let me get your phone number then.”
That was how it had all started.
The first study sessions were awkward. You didn’t know where to begin and he followed everything you did like a hungry puppy which made you nervous and amused at the same time. As you got used to him, it became strangely satisfactory to have him all for yourself. You had watched and clapped for him many games, so having the roles reverse was feeling a bit too good.
Thankfully, he was a fast learner and as soon as he started to understand, he contributed to the conversation, which helped your shyness to calm down. Inadvertently, you had become comfortable around him. As his back relaxed on his chair and he threw an arm over the rest of his chair, you could tell he felt the same way about you.
The exams came around and so your sessions with him came to an end. Bokuto had stopped by your desk showing you his good grades and thanking you for getting him through. You smiled at him, but your chest had tensed up with what could only be disappointment. You realized then your interest in Bokuto, that little twinge that drew your eyes to him, had evolved into something more—an infatuation.
You could feel the air escaping your lips in a soft sigh every time you caught him in the hallways or entering the classroom. And to worsen your situation, your dynamic with him had changed. You were no longer strangers. At first, he would say hi to you in the hallways—it was a very casual and fleeting gesture that stole your breath away anyway. You didn’t dare to make longer conversation, afraid of being too obvious and afraid of attracting too much attention.
Then, all on its own, the hello’s turned into small chats that would eventually lead to them walking to class together. Bokuto was so incredibly friendly, it was impossible for you not to fall into his spell. On the downside, there was no excuse for you to spend more time with him outside of those short walks to be with him. Like you stated: he was friendly, so if there was something Bokuto had, it was friends all around him at all times. You would need to do something drastic to be able to spend the quality time you desired so much. You just didn’t have it in you, so you just took what you could and remained silent.
Lucky for you, it was only three months later when the midterms rolled around and soon Bokuto was in front of you right after class asking for your help yet again. That time around, you weren’t as nervous as before. You were happy you would go back to spend part of your evenings with him, sitting close together as you went through your notes and that fresh smell that you couldn’t pinpoint but lingered on you for the rest of the day. You missed being under the spotlight of his piercing eyes. And there you were now, completely enthralled in how his brows knit slightly down and his lips puckered as he focused on what was on the paper.
Suddenly, Bokuto slammed the papers on the table. You were violently pulled out of your contemplative state and were forced to look away with your cheeks burning like wildfire. You had been shamelessly staring at him. It was a miracle you hadn’t been caught red-handed.
“I’m ready for tomorrow!” Bokuto claimed as confident as he ever succeeded in being. He turned to you and raised his hands with the thumb up. “That exam is going to be cake on a plate.”
You smiled, face still warm and hands hidden between your legs so as to not show their shakiness. “Yes, it’s going to be really easy.”
He stood up and extended his hand to you—offering it for you to take it. “Let’s get something to eat. It’s on me.”
You oddly looked at him. It was the first time Bokuto had invited you anywhere. You would hang out at school all the time, but after you were done with the studying sessions, he would give a big yawn and then leave home to rest. It had never crossed your mind that you were permitted to be together after school.
“C’mon,” he insisted with his hand still stretched towards you. You grabbed his hand softly—hesitant—and in return, he wrapped your hand strongly, bringing you up to your feet with one pull. You blinked fast, not expecting that at all.
You didn’t know where you were going. You were left to follow Bokuto as he talked and talked, explaining everything about the team they would play against next week at the qualifiers. He turned to you then with that confident smile of his. “You’ll be there, obviously,” he stated.
“I will,” you simply said. You had never been one to talk too much, but that was enough for him to nod satisfied and keep rambling without noticing how hard you were squeezing your hands behind your back.
The next week, you were loyal to your word. You went inside the gymnasium ready to see Fukurodani play, and as soon as you stepped in, you realized how much everything had changed. Before, it was exciting to see the matches for the simple matter that you have gained a liking for the sport through those years accompanying your friend. Now, you personally knew someone in the team, someone you were rooting for. You had seen Bokuto on the court countless times since your first year in high school, but had never really been there because of him—till then. Now he had your undivided attention to him. You were able to pick up on his mood depending on his expressions, a knowledge you had acquired through your study sessions with him. Your entire body had buzzed through the game watching him play. You had been so high on your own emotions, you swore it wasn’t going to be good for your health in the long run.
After Fukurodani closed the match with another win under their belt, you left the bleachers with your limbs tingling and your heart still in your throat for all the cheering you had done. The match was all you and your friends were talking about. Fukurodani was set to play another game that day since they had passed to the next round, and with a little time in your hands, you all decided to look for something to drink since your tire throats really needed it, but before that, one of your friends had exclaimed she needed to use the restrooms before you all headed outside and your other friend had decided to join her. This, leaving you alone in the hall.
As you waited for them, you contemplated texting Bokuto a congratulations for winning their first game of the day. You tapped your foot on the floor, thinking if maybe it was better to use it as an excuse to approach him. Before you could make up your mind, your friends came out from the restroom and you quickly closed your phone and pushed it inside your pocket.
You gave a couple steps towards the exit when your name was called. The three of you turned around, finding Bokuto standing a couple meters from you.
“You’re here!” he said with his hands on his hips, looking nothing else than victorious.
“Hello, Bokuto,” you said, heading to him and doing your best not to stutter. It shouldn’t be permitted for him to walk around still in his volleyball uniform.
“We did great, didn’t we?” he stated more than asking.
Your two friends nodded in silence. You felt like laughing. It was good to know you weren’t the only one getting all shy around the guy.
“Yeah, you were great out there,” you said. It was out of her character for you to be so confident, but somehow the words left your mouth with not much trouble. Maybe it was the need to show off to your friends how close you had become with Bokuto, or maybe it was your reckless heart taking control.
Your statement only caused Bokuto to get even more excited about his win and the next match. Sadly for you, he was taken away then by Akaashi who bowed at the three of you and kept directing Bokuto back to their group. You couldn’t help the sparks popping off under your skin. You could feel it in your chest, around your arms, all over your head. You felt… special. Bokuto had located you among the crowd and had gone straight to you. It had been a fleeting moment, but the intention was there. Intention changed everything, and you wouldn’t deny yourself indulging into the delusion of it.
Yet, this luxury was equally short lived. Your flight among the clouds was ended by the quizzical looks of your friends and all the questions that they threw at you. For the sake of keeping your interest in Bokuto a secret, you had avoided mentioning him to your friends. You had never expected he would approach you so bluntly during the tournament, but now that it had happened, you scolded yourself from not seeing it coming.
You shrugged at your friends, playing the interaction as meaningless–as if it hadn’t been like lightning striking down on you. “Do you remember I was tutoring a guy from my class?” you said to your friends. “Well, it is him.”
Your friends complained to you in unison, exclaiming how tutoring Bokuto was not just ‘a random classmate’ and you were unfair for keeping that little detail out. You did your best to wave them off, insisting that his identity didn’t change anything, even when you knew it did change everything. The guy was pretty popular after all.
That’s when another aspect of your relationship with him changed. Since then, Bokuto would look for you after the matches. Sometimes he would go to where you were. Other times, he would just smile at you from where he was and you would lift both your hands with the thumbs up to let him know he had done great. People always surrounded him, so you preferred to stay back.
You had tricked yourself into believing you were attending all the volleyball games because it was like routine by then, but deep inside you knew it had become exciting to see him play. Your feelings had been promoted from a silly infatuation to something stronger, and there was no use in lying to yourself. It was an inescapable situation. You understood this as his expectant eyes danced around the crowd till they landed on you. To have the attention of someone like him could captivate anyone. Going to the games was your new favorite excuse to have him looking at you.
With the preliminaries done and Fukurodani qualifying to go to nationals, you went back to the study sessions with Bokuto. You were surprised his discipline extended to the academic side as well. His grades had been great since he had bega studying with you, so why stop? It worked and he needed it to keep working. Or se he had said.
That’s why you were now sitting at a diner with your mind a bit fuzzy because of the school day and those extra hours you had stayed with him, and Bokuto across from you. You were up in your head, swimming in your feelings like you tended to do for the past six months. As you two ate dinner at a small, homely cafeteria, you wondered if that was how it felt to go out on a date with him. He was slightly frowning as he stared at his menu trying to decide what he wanted. You felt your stomach clench at the thought. You had been trying to confess to him for the past month and the words had always refused to escape your mouth. And like always, your mouth was feeling dry at the prospect of speaking the truth. You had decided you would do it after dinner. If he rejected you, then you could run away to cry your heart out in peace. You were done studying for the final exams, so your late hang-outs were done and with the winter break starting a week from them, you wouldn’t be seeing him
For the entirety of your dinner with Bokuto, he had run on his usual monologues. You would intervene here and there, but you had let him lead the night. You were too busy in your head trying to agree with yourself on how you were going to confess. This didn’t make time stop. Soon your dishes were served, you ate, you talked about what you were doing for the winter break, finished your sodas and paid the bill. In the blink of an eye you were back on the street amid the early, cold night. Time was up.
Bokuto’s long sight as he stretched his arms upwards and his back cracked told you he was ready to head home, but you were speechless.
“Well, see ya’ tomorrow!” Bokuto said as energetically as usual.
You held your breath. You only had to tell him to wait a second, that you needed to tell him something else, and then just let him know. It was all you needed to do—to speak the right words. But you remained silent and he started to head off, the lump on your throat felt worse.
For the last month you had been living in a torturous cycle. You would get too nervous to tell him about your feelings, and after you failed, you would feel pathetic for not being able to tell him. Today just seemed to be another horrible day where you miserably lost an excellent opportunity.
You loved the feeling of walking beside him whether it was on the school halls or on the street, you loved watching the fluctuation in his face every time he jumped from one mood to the other with ease. You loved to hear him talk about his day or to complain when he thought he had given a lackluster performance when most probably he had done great. You wanted more. You didn’t want to depend on study sessions or volleyball games to have time with him.
Out of nowhere, you evoked the courage to sprint away from your house and to where Bokuto had gone. You shouted his name hoping he would hear you and stop but he was nowhere to be seen. You ran for a good five minutes until you finally saw his silhouette. How fast did he walk?, you asked to yourself.
“Bokuto!” you called again. This time he did hear you and turned around surprised to see you running with such urgency.
“____, is everything okay? Did something happen?” he asked, worried.
You stopped in front of him panting like crazy. “I need…” you started saying, but shut your mouth immediately. There it was… your asphyxiating heartbeat . “I mean, I… I, what I mean is…”
You stared at the floor, incapable to keep staring at his eyes. You were still on time to run back to your house and lock yourself in your bedroom hoping you two could pretend she had never sprinted several blocks for nothing. “I wanted to, to, to…” you cursed in your mind. You shut your eyes tight, feeling a couple of tears at the corners. You hadn’t even been rejected, but the emotions were so strong and real, it was all too much.
“You’re scaring me,” Bokuto said, even more worried now. His strong voice had grown softer. It was so different from what it always was, he sounded like another person.
“I only needed to tell you…” you managed to complete a whole sentence. You took a deep breath. That was it. You had to do it. “I only needed to tell you that I have feelings for you, Bokuto. I don’t know how you feel but I need you to know that I like you,” you blurted.
Instantly, it was like you were lighter and heavier at the same time. You were out of breath and your hands were sweaty and shaky. The only thing you heard was silence and so the tears were now threatening to fall. You didn’t want to lift your gaze and risk catching the troubled expression on his face as he searched for the nicest way to turn you down.
“I like you a lot, actually,” he said. Simple and clean. No stuttering nor embarrassment.
Your head snapped in shock. One tear managed to fall across your cheek as there was nothing holding them back. “What? How?” you muttered. You had been so sure he wouldn’t feel the same, you didn’t even bother to ponder that maybe… he did.
He pouted, displeased with your answer. “What do you mean how?” he said, crossing his arms. “I think I was being obvious.” He was now looking away from you. He seemed to be as flustered as you were.
“Obvious?” You were trying to process his words, still in awe.
“I mean, the teacher told me to pick between you and other two, but I don’t know, you were always cute to me, so I wanted to see what you were like,” he explained and sighed loudly. “I thought I was doing a good job being obvious.”
“No, I… I thought I was getting the wrong idea,” you whispered. Your pulse had slowed down and was now beating in a more-less steady rhythm. All those times he made space to come to you after his matches, all those times he approached you on the hallways and pulled you to walk together with him to class, all those times you felt special thinking it was only in your head… it wasn’t. It was always Bokuto trying to make a move on you.
He faced you again with a smile back on his face. “We should go out, then” he started saying. The pink on your cheeks become more intense being visible even in the dark of the night. “Are you free this Friday?”
“I am,” you said.
“Okay.”
“Okay,” you repeated in a whisper.
The two of you stood there without a clue to what to do next. Bokuto let out a short laugh and bent down to deposit a kiss on your head. “Goodnight, see you tomorrow” he said and started to walk home again.
“Text me when you arrive home!” you dared to shout. Your good humor had not only come back, but you were head-over-hills.
He raised a hand to let her know he had heard you. “I will!”
You watched him go for a second and then turned around and started to run to your house. You could walk, but the adrenaline in your body demanded an outlet. You didn’t care what happened next. You liked him and he liked you back.
And best of all… you had a date on Friday with him. It just couldn’t get any better than that.
I'm so happy to see you're back!!💕💕

Sunburned & Lovestruck / Ushijima x Fem!Reader
When it comes to dating you, Ushijima had taken all the necessary steps to be a gentleman. This includes giving a good impression to your parents, which he had been incredibly successful. However, all his manners suddenly get challenged over a beautiful summer day. He had never thought of the complications watching you in a pretty bikini could cause him.
Original Request
Genre: Romance / Pure fluff.
Warnings: None. Just a teenage boy dealing with his cute girlfriend.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
If there was someone who knew what composure was, it was he, Ushijima Wakatoshi. No matter the situation in hand, he never lost the calmness in his factions nor in his voice. And if you were to ask him, he would give the most obvious solution to any problem without blinking an eye, his emotions never getting in the way. He was certainly distinguished not only for his killer left spike, but also for his immutable countenance.
But for the first time, the game seemed to be changing. He had been presented with a whole new situation he would have never been able to foresee.
Ushijima had been in a serious relationship with his girlfriend for good-and-steady six months. They had followed the steps of a commitment and everything had been sailing breezily. He had gone to have dinner at her house as to meet her parents, and he had left an utmost good impression on them. They had been thrilled to find that their one and only daughter was dating such a gentleman. He was everything they had dreamt for her, or at least, that was what they had proclaimed that same night as the evening reached its end.
Ushijima remembered feeling happy with the response—even proud. His feelings for _____ were strong, and to know her parents had given him their approval meant a lot. However, this certificate of approval only became truly palpable for him until her parents had personally invited him to their beach house for a week during the summer break. _____ had been radiant when she heard her parents extend the invitation. It had been a surprise for both of them, and this could only mean two things: One, they genuinely liked Ushijima. And two, he had to be on his best behavior so they wouldn’t lose their appreciation for him. He saw no problem with this. He had assumed it wouldn’t be a problem. He was serious and formal by nature. It was as simple as being his usual self and everything would go fine.
If only he had known.
His first day of the summer break began with a beautiful clear sky, fresh orange juice in front of him, and the sound of the ocean waves in the background. He was the first to be ready at the table for breakfast. The air was still crisp and the atmosphere was serene with the beaches empty, waiting for the world to wake and begin their activities.
He helped to get the table ready which was rewarded with a smile and a quick peck on the cheek by his girlfriend. Judging by the first hours, the day painted to be a perfect one. It was good to be away from the chaos of his regular life.
His problems began right after breakfast. _____ had hurried him to clean his plate so they could finally go to the beach. The previous patience she had portrayed all morning was gone, now she was restless, gathering everything they would need so she could rush down the wooden path and settle on the sand.
As they made their way down the beach, she had turned around and directed a big smile right at him before suggesting they should have a match of beach volleyball, insisting it would be fun for them to play against each other. While she wasn’t into the sport like him, he appreciated her eagerness to get involved with his main hobby, so with his own gentle smile he accepted, promising to go easy on her.
Ushijima followed _____ around till they chose the perfect spot and together began to put up their little camp which consisted of a big parasol and two large towels for them to use. Then, it was time for them to get comfortable, and that was when his inconvenience began. He took off his shirt without much worry and began digging inside their bag to pull out the sunscreen. He turned to her, ready to offer the bottle to her first, and that was when he saw her.
As the gentleman he was, he had never tried to take their relationship to another level, so what was in front of him was brand new territory. There she was in a two-piece swimsuit being the cutest thing he had ever seen. His eyes opened and something that hadn’t happened to him since elementary school happened again: He was blushing. It was like his eyes had been glued to her and it felt as if his heart was drumming on his throat instead of his chest. What was he supposed to do with all those emotions? What even were they?
Without noticing the effect she was having on him, she casually took the bottle of sunscreen from his stoic hand and offered him yet another smile. “Do you want me to put some on your back, Wakatoshi? The sun here is like in no other place. It will burn your skin,” she rambled, still completely oblivious of his flustered state even if she was staring right to his face.
He swallowed heavily, nodded and gave his back to her, the perfect excuse to hide his face until he could go back to his center. Soon he felt the cold of the sunscreen spreading on his skin. “You’re so tense!” she commented as she pushed the palm of her hands harder against his back. He closed his eyes and focused on the relaxing sensation of the massage she was basically giving him. He felt himself relaxing and his face cooling. He slowly breathed in and out regaining his composure. “Done! Could you help me with mine?”
Now, the problem was bigger. Hiding his hesitation, he stood very still and took the bottle. She gave his back to him, and with determination, he kept his eyes locked on her bare shoulder. He wished he could be more confident, but his hands were a mess as he spread the sunscreen unevenly on her back. He stopped right at her waist, and as he fleetingly blushed again, he decided not to cover her lower back. He would need to get used to the sight before he could go any lower.
“Done,” he said, voice stern.
She turned around and grabbed the bottle from him and placed it inside the bag. His eyes had remained locked on the ocean. “Let’s go for a swim. I can’t take the heat,” she said.
The truth was, he couldn’t avoid her much longer. He could give the wrong impression, and admitting what was actually happening would be ten times more embarrassing. He turned around thinking he was ready to face his girlfriend again, but when he saw her, he felt his face growing warmer again. He couldn’t even help it—it was a natural reaction.
She started running towards the sea, but he couldn’t move. All he was able to do was to watch her go. She waved her hand to him, shouting at him to join her. He swore he wanted to go with her, but his heartbeat was like a hammer nailing him on his place. A hand suddenly slapped his shoulder and squeezed it. He turned his head to find her father smiling at him. Under his arm he had two towels and from the side he saw his wife making her way to them. They were joining them at the beach. His problems worsen, then. Now he couldn’t afford to be obvious.
“What’s wrong, Ushijima?” he cheerfully asked. “You don’t like the sea?”
“I do, sir,” he said, and yet, he didn’t move. He felt as if he was choking. The older man gazed at him and a soft laughter came from his lips. “Look at you! You’re already red like a lobster! Didn’t my daughter warn you that the sun here is dangerous?”
Ushijima only blushed more as her girlfriend’s father laughed harder. It was not the sun’s fault, unfortunately. He gave it a quick thought. Maybe the sea could help him and he needed to escape her parents before he got discovered. Cold water would be perfect for his burning face. He gave a small bow to the man and awkwardly jogged to where his girlfriend was. Her glad countenance usually would be enough to relieve him, but he had concluded that as long as she exposed herself in such cute pieces it would be forever impossible for him to be collected again.
She gasped once he was in front of her. “Is that a sunburn or are you actually blushing?” she quizzed him, sounding incredulous. He gave up right there and then. There was no one more flustered than him at that exact moment. He didn’t answer, trusting his silence would be a better cover up than anything that could come out of his mouth. Slowly, he let himself fall backwards and floated. “Is that a blush!? Answer me!”
He heard her body shuffling through the water, then her face appeared in front of him. He had the horrible idea to look from the corner of his eye facing her body on that goddarn swimsuit. He shut his eyes tight.
“Wakatoshi! Answer me!” she insisted.
He didn’t say a thing. He was too focused on calming the beating of his heart. What a long week waited for him.

The Haikyuu Lovers & Co. is officially revamping
Hello to whoever is still here & whoever new comes across this post. My name is Bun, formerly known as Admin Bunny. After 3 long years after I abandoned this blog, I have decided to revamp it. Why now? What changed? Maybe it was the sudden Haikyuu!! Renascence going on, maybe is nostalgia, or maybe is my joy for writing coming back to me. Life can be crazy when you're going through your twenties. No one tells you how things can change so much, and among my changes, I ended up remembering how much I loved & appreciated all this blog gave me. So I asked myself... how to come back? How to do it? Well, I decided that as for now I'm not receiving any requests, but I'll be upgrading past ones! I have 3 years of past requests already done. Requests that if you ask me, can be improve so, so, so much. Not to look down on my own work but now I can see all the missed opportunities and jumble of ideas I was posting. So, why not go back & revamp my past works? Elaborate a little bit more, give more form & figure to the paragraphs, a more consistent line of thinking, or even use other words & similes. Will the match-ups come back? Most probably no. My decision with this is that people stopped asking for writing requests and all that I got were requests for matchups, and while it was fun a the start... it was also demoralizing to see people didn't really care for actual writing requests. Match-ups were a fun little game, but I got burned out. I was analyzing personalities every day & scrolling through the Haikyuu wiki characters' tab trying to figure out a perfect match. So... they're not coming back. Does this mean regular requests will come back? Eventually, yes. For now I want to focus on revamping back works and bringing them back in better shape. I do have a couple of golden pieces there I'm excited to polish. And I will finally be having a master list with the revamped works. I never got around to doing one so now I'm doing that correctly.
So, welcome back to the Haikyuu Lovers Company where we expect to give you and your most loving desires a warm welcome and pleasant stay.
Forever yours, Bun.
Hello, can i ask you a question?
What happen to your "himawari tsukishima" fic?
I cant read it anymore, have you deleted it?
And if possible, woyld you re-upload it cause i love that fic, thank you😁
Hello theree!!
Yeah, sadly i had to delete it because someone was publishing it on other sites as their own and no matter how much i tried, i kept receiving messages about that from lovely people who recognized my work and someone pretending it was their work.
I havent considered publishing it again! I might revisit it and try again! It was practically finished so it made me sad that i was never able to publish it completely… but i’ll take a look at it again and consider the option!
My writing has evolved in these years so if i publish it again, i might want to do some editing!
Thanks you so much for keeping the story so close to your heart that you remember it even if it’s been years since i took it down 🥺! It means the world to me !!!
@haikyuulovercompany
I love you baby 🥺🥺🥺🥺💜💜💜 @resuri-senpai
Whoever is in charge of tumblr is very disconnected to what tumblr is. Adding a pay wall????
??????
They have been killing this site since 2018 and now they expect to add a paywall when they’ve stomped on the love of people for this site??????
We’re all money hungry I guess
They will start sending copyright infringements to people bc if you’re making money off of a property, the owners of said property can come and have control over your work… Tumblr is not social media. It’s a page for the fandoms… so, are they really trying to kill this site i guess
