Michaela tried not to jerk back as Halcyon reached out toward her face, closing her eyes and allowing him to touch her softly as she bit down on her lip to keep from giggling. “Really? Absolutely aggravating?” She teased as she opened her eyes, looking down at the small hair. Smiling, she leaned forward and blew out softly, the breath taking the eyelash into the wind.
“Well, yes. Absolutely aggravating. It’s quite like--have you ever sat or stood behind someone for a long time and they had a hair stuck on their shirt? Or their tag was sticking out? Or been sitting in a room where one--just one--of the picture frames wasn’t level? It’s those little things that are nearly perfect, but not quite there that I find the most troublesome.” Halcyon smiled, glad that someone hadn’t lost their sense of childlike wonder. Most thought wishing on eyelashes or coins or dandelions was for children. Halcyon thought a little bit of wonder was for all. “May your wish come true, Miss.”
