honestly, this phrase has been on my mind more times than i can count. i've kidnapped it, taken it as a hostage with no ransom money because i need it to live permanently in my head.

Going back to old writing is either just like:
1. “Who wrote this masterpiece?! It was ME?!”
2. “Who wrote this absolute shit? Oh fuck my life, that was me, wasn’t it?”

There's a feeling that's been creeping around at the back of my mind that the media we consume is slowly eliminating our ability to think. There's a subset of the current media landscape that feels like its unintended purpose is to replace thought. It's long, soft, full of another person's random musings with no interruption besides ads and I feel as if it doesn't really lend itself to learning as much as it is made to be consumed.
"If you use em dash in your works, it makes them look AI generated. No real human uses em dash."
Imaging thinking actual human writers are Not Real because they use... professional writing in their works.
Imagine thinking millions of people who have been using em dash way before AI becomes a thing are all robots.
REBLOG IF YOU'RE A HUMAN AND YOU USE EM DASH
One of my favorite thematic tropes in all of literature is the “Faustian Bargain.” There’s something so enticing about it, especially if the person going into it knows for the most part what they’re getting into. I love the naked fight between one’s desires and one’s morality. I love the idea of a demon picking away at someone’s idea of themselves with gifts of abundance, power or temporary fulfillment. The fact that demon’s exist puts to bed the question of eternal damnation in those tales, but still having a compelling reason or strong enough desire to sign a “deal with the devil” makes for an interesting protagonist in my book. It’s one of the tropes I could tell again and again and never get tired of it.
As a writer, I spend 90% of my time googling synonyms or searching for words I know but have incidentally forgotten right in the moment that I need it for once.
Childhood can be scary.

Does anyone else get nauseous as they read their own first draft of writing? Even just putting the words on the screen that I feel are a facsimile of what I want to say fills me with endless dread and embarrassment.
As a hobbyist I write work that is unreadable for most people and that is ok.
Me when the writing inspiration was just a tiny sprinkle and not a massive wave that drowns me in golden glorious inspiration
