"Dad will you go with me around the houses today for a trick or treat trip? Cora loved Halloween and wanted to go on a trick or treat trip like every year. She would go around by herself but mom wouldn't let her. Her father looked at her in apology while he was thinking about which tie to choose. "Sorry Cora, Mom and I have a date tonight. Maybe Laura or Derek will go with you this year."

My fic for day 6 of @hale-o-ween, for the theme "Harvest Festival." I always start craving monster stories around Halloween, and this write-in prompt reminded me how much I love the "let's throw a human sacrifice into the woods to die" trope :)

But he doesn’t intend to let some ancient god rip his heart out, not if magic can help it. If only Derek, his estranged best friend, would stop hounding him about his plans to escape.

The brunette boy stops in front of the large pumpkin patch, just two more steps and he would have set foot in the field for the first time. There are at least 100 different things racing through his head that he could do in the time he was standing out here. Sometimes he wondered if his mother was right, and his grandmother was just telling him stupid stories. The lanky boy took a breath to collect himself, he had come out here to find out just that. Did his grandmother just have a wild imagination? Was everything she told him true? Or would he be caught by the people who lived at the farm before he could find out?

Day Five | Corn Maze
Long fingers grab at his arm as he keeps walking, “Wait, check the vault?! What vault? Is this a pack vault? Do we have vault privileges by proxy?”
Peter raises his eyebrows, “You haven’t felt it under the high school?”
“UGH. That’s what I’ve been feeling there? You couldn’t have mentioned this earlier? I would’ve bailed after a year.”
Noah tuts, “Then you wouldn’t have become so close with Boyd. It’s important to have friends. A friend. It’s important to have at least one friend.”
Stiles sighs with his whole body, sinking back into his seat, closer to Peter than he was before.
“It’s true, I am a carnivorous social butterfly.”
