She smiles politely and points over her shoulder at the high cabinets. "I can't reach where they put the gauze." Admitting she was too short to reach something was not new. "Whoever restocked it put it on the highest shelf; our stepstool has been commandeered, and Lena said if I use a chair or climb, she's putting me in time-out." It's half joking; the stepstool really has been absconded with. "I'd really appreciate the hand. Either that or distracting Lena so I can use a chair to reach the shelf." Both were valid options in her book.

the movement of her hand draws his attention back to her. blue following the movement to where the issue was. teeth dig into his tongue for a moment to keep himself from saying something that would get him in trouble. though he's not entirely sure why she's going for the gauze that's in the restock inventory.

"are the carts out?" it would be the first time outside of a MCI that he would have ever witnessed all of the carts be cleaned out of gauze. "or are you like... stocking one?" which wouldn't be unheard of but it would be pretty weird for a med student to be doing that.

the answer didn't really matter in the long run. he was already moving towards the cupboard to grab it for her. "also listening to Lena is pretty much the only way you're going to survive so. approved stools or bust. what size do you need?"

The bottle is placed in front of her, Sterling hanging over her desk before she can say anything, he's pushed it in front of her. She must look a mess that he'd taken time out to give something to her when there were clearly emergencies going on around them.

It's a shy smile she offers, "Thank you. I sometimes don't think about this...and I forgot my tumbler at home." The explanation is weak. But between calling for consultations, changing the board and doing intake papers she's sure her hair is frizzed from the stress.

it was never what one could call hot in the ED. but with the heat outside putting the HVAC to work it was no where near as cold as it usually was. and maybe she didn't need the water, but none of them could afford to drop from dehydration these days.

"I did notice the absence of the emotional support tumbler. besides if you drop what the hell are the rest of us gonna do? it would be chaos in here." sure the nurses and the doctors might be the 'face' of the department. but it was people like Nora that actually kept things running in a way that vaguely made sense.

"yeah, I'm good. I mean if I don't think about the way my feet feel like they're going to fall off. or that my back feels like it belongs to someone three times my age. just a normal Thursday."
