Lavender shows Nandi Rose Plunkett coming to terms with the reality that pain is often an important intermediary to wisdom.

I haven’t used this Tumblr much recently, but it’s amazing to scroll through it as a time capsule of my life, and of this project. I was posting photos and bits of inspiration long before anyone was there to receive it, so it remains this public snapshot of my private reveries.

Sitting here with a cup of coffee, six years from when this all started, and now NPR is streaming our new album. Wow. I want to take a second to say to my self back in 2013, when things were pretty low and I was living in a cockroach-infested apartment in Bed Stuy, that I’m proud of her for not giving up on her dream. And I want to say thank you to anyone who has listened to this music, come to a show, shared a song with a friend, reached out, given us a place to stay on the road, offered the kindness of belief. It has been a humbling journey, and I feel it’s only just getting started.
