Rant about SOME people in the Black Phone community.
Just so you know I talk a LOT about the implied S/A of the boys and mention some of the indicators I noticed. If that makes you uncomfortable, or is a trigger for you, scroll.
I watched The Black Phone with my friend last night and we both loved it, so, naturally decided to go online and explore the fandom.Ā
Iām not lying when I tell you I CRIED out of anger at the literal second post I saw.Ā
It was a picture of The Grabber when he tried to play naughty boy the first time, and the caption had something to do with Finny being ālucky to have those pillows all to himselfā, referencing The Grabberās chest and stomach. One of the comments said Finny was being fucking greedy for not sharing. And, like I said, it was genuinely so insensitive and disgusting that I cried.
I donāt understand how people can sit here and post shit like that online. I donāt understand how you can sit here and make a post like that. If Finny couldnāt hear shit from that phone he would have been sexually assaulted and killed like all of the rest of those boys, and itās not something that anybody should be joking about, regardless if itās fiction or not.Ā
Not only have I seen disgusting shit like that, but me and my friends have discovered that people genuinely believe that those boys were not being sexually assaulted, which astounds me.Ā
Some of youse need to actually pick up a book or go back to fourth grade ELA classes, because tell me why people canāt see what is set out right in front of them? You shouldnāt have to see a five minute scene of the grabber sexually assaulting someone. You shouldnāt have to when itāsĀ Ā so heavily implied.Ā
If half of these people had any media literacy that would have picked it up. There were extremely obvious similarities to John Wayne Gacy. The Naughty Boy game should have been self explanatory. Just the way The Grabber was touching Finny that first time he came into the basement should immediately have turned anyone off. How many wounds did we see on Vance? Not many, right? So what did The Grabber ātake his time withā
It is self explanatory, and people need to start using their brains.Ā
It isnāt funny to make jokes about rape and sexual assault, whether itās in a fictional setting or not. Itās not quirky to simp over a rapist pedofile. Itās not funny to not be media literate. And you shouldnāt need a rape scene in Black Phone to understand whatās happening when the directors so heavily implied it.

Iāve been a fan since the first movie I just canāt yap as much when I donāt see contentš (also the grabber likers and TBP 2 kind of ruined it??? I swear there WASNT as many weird people before it came outā¦also I donāt really like the second movie after the initial watch ermā¦)

Hoping the biting pain of his nails digging into his palms would help him ignore the ghosts on the other end; ignore the trauma that resurfaces whenever a phone starts ringing. He wasnāt in the basement. He made it out, moved away and changed his name. He wasnāt Finney Blake anymore so why couldnāt the ghosts just leave him the fuck alone?!
