why doesnt the big gingerbrave eat the little gingerbrave
hdm is honestly the closest i ever get to writing fanfiction. as sick in the head as i am about cookie run, i just feel so much more compelled to Write about hdm as opposed to roleplaying cookie run. a lot of this is brought on by spite for the second trilogy but also because like.... theres so much about characters that i want to explore properly. i really truly think of i sat down and did it i could write a couple chapters about will having to return to a Normal Life in the aftermath of the first trilogy. and also her transitioning. i want to actually examine what i think lyra and pans relationship would look like by the time of tsc in a world where philip pullman had a functioning brain between his shoulders and didnt forget every single thing about his main character. i want to analyze lyra and wills relationship beyond "true fated lovers" because ultimately theyre Traumatized Children and THATS why theyre so dependent upon one another in their brief time together. i wanttttttt to write oc stories in the hdm world to explore aspects of it that are not expanded upon enough for my taste........... sighhhhhh

like if were being technical he didnt even properly abandon lyra. like hes a shit dad hes extremely absent in her life and abuses her when he is there but he notably had no choice in the matter of whether or not to raise her. like thats the whole thing

just rewatched the 2007 movie and we were all so mean to her. the costume design. the love and care to put dæmons on almost every crowd scene. that whimsical feeling only 00s movies can capture. dakota blue richards was a perfect lyra. sam elliott was a perfect lee scoresby. did they fumble some things? yes. i'm not super into some of the "fantastical" technology. the faces of the dæmons are a bit off-putting at times. the changes made to the flow of the plot are kinda strange on the latter half. and making pavel try and poison asriel robs the master of jordan of some of his character. but overall? the vibes: impeccable. i will be angry forever that we didn't get to see the true ending and they ended it with lyra saying "the alethiometre says i'm bringing my father what he needs :)" WHEN YOU KNOW. also crazy there was not a single mention of the northern lights in an adaptation of nothern fucking lights lmao

the thing about mothers in fiction is that a lot of fandoms seem to be under the impression that the worst thing a woman can possibly do is be a bad mother. like they can forgive deadbeat dads easily but the moment a woman is a bad or even mediocre mother she's the devil incarnate to them. and then you're like "i like her and i think she's interesting" and they immediately go "oh so you think it's okay to be a bad mother (which is the most evil thing a woman can be)". and don't even get me started on how they react to female characters who are bad stepmothers
