Tumblr mobile cons; the most graphic and horrific ads you have ever seen in your entire life
just received the best text message I’ve ever had. from my mom

Even in left wing circles it’s literally like pulling teeth trying to get people to take misogyny seriously as a real problem that is killing women and ruining their lives everywhere all the time and not like a haha silly 1950s problem we just make jokes about now
Seated
Stuff like this always makes me remember how sensationalized the “hide your kids, hide your wife” video was, also known as the “bedroom intruder meme” 🗿.
The guy was clearly one of the earliest memes of a black person expressing frustration publicly (it was a news report of the man explaining how he’d run off a predator trying to rape his sister by the way) but in a “funny way” (the way that nbs and whites find entertaining at least because they don’t see black trauma as something that should be given grace, and shown empathy right from the very start over their own intial enjoyment because that’s no fun), and something like this became a huge joke. Like, this meme was literally everywhere in the early 2000’s, and I think people forgot that his sister was almost raped 🧍🏾♀️…………………………..!
Forgot to mention just in case people start acting stupid oh this post if it randomly blows up (I’m not popular here so I might be free 🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀) but the bedroom intruder meme was turned into music, merch, the brother was even on tv shows, and tbh, I personally never cared if poor black folks decide to capitalize off of a meme that made them viral to change their situation. It’s better they get something out of it because whites and nbs are laughing anyway, while making their money off of black trauma. That’s how it always is with these memes. It’s awful.
Holy fuck I had no idea. Never used that meme myself, but that's just vile, poor guy.
sorry I saw a post about AAVE and got fired up and had to make this
Yes! Yes! Yes!
Also include all accents.
Like the way people exaggerate the 'Indian accent' is so horribly racist
indian english is actually its own fully robust dialect of english, over 250 million people in india speak english and the language has been used for official communication in india for over 150 years. it has its own phonological rules and unique vocabulary!
other "accents" like mexican-american english are also full dialects with native speakers, and not just by people who haven't fully learned english as people often assume. but india is literally the country with the second most english speakers in the world!
what really gets me about the whole "I see m/m as an escape from misogyny" thing is that a lot of the time the time at least one of the two men they're shipping is like. canonically misogynistic. like if you can ignore that the the point where you consider his relationship to another guy as a refuge from misogyny you can ignore the misogyny in whatever media you're consuming for long enough to engage with a woman
can we please acknowledge that tma/tme is a meaningful distinction? a justice of the US supreme court is openly saying that it's legal to discriminate against trans women because the same laws do not target trans men. the transmisogyny is what makes it permissible. your transphobia is fine as long as it has carveouts for men.
since i posted this, many comments and tags have accused me of not caring about trans men's feelings. let me go on the record: they are correct; i do not care about men's feelings. i especially don't care about men's feelings when the US Supreme Court rules that categorical bans on trans women's participation in women's sports are constitutional, overturning precedent from multiple lower courts, and establishing a legal basis for weaponizing Title IX against us.
describing this as generalized transphobia flattens out the differences in how variously trans people are variously discriminated against. framing this as transmisogyny correctly focuses our attention on the ways in which discrimination which uniquely targets transfems is weaponized. there will no doubt be downstream effects felt by any number of transmisogyny exempt people, and they will rightly feel upset about the injustices they will experience. i do not want those things to happen, but they will and it will be bad and wrong when they do. but the first people targeted will be those least able to exempt ourselves from transmisogyny, those named explicitly in the majority opinion.
you'll pardon me for not sparing much consideration for future injustices when my sisters and siblings are already suffering, already being cast out and labeled as dangerous, things whose inclusion is a bourgeois luxury reserved only for when we have the time to weigh the complications and the nuance.
to hell with you all.
Frankly if youre transmasc and you read the above and all you can think is "But what about meeeee" instead of "Oh my god, I'm being used as a justification for the discrimination of my sisters, I must speak up for them, and fight for them with all I have!!! I do not want hate being pushed on transfems in my name!!!", you are heartless, and should make your first priority to find wherever you lost your heart.
This is transfeminism!
(writes something) god this sucks so bad. this is awful. i'm the worst writer ever. this is nothing. (rereads it a while after writing it) oh dude this is fire. i'm the god of writing. (writes something again) god this sucks so bad. th

sorry for the delay in responding to your message. I was walking around the house with unclear intentions
feminist killjoy hours again, what the actual fuck is “weird girl literature” and how often do we acquiesce to the latest degrading gendered advertising campaigns
Women did not fucking pioneer horror, thriller, and science fiction as we know it for publishing to infantilize it into a high school phase
is Stephen king “weird boy literature”? Or does he get to be an adult horror novelist?
so in the 2003 Aquaman series they introduce a new backstory for archvillain Black Manta in which the entire reason for his (hyper)fixation on destroying Aquaman's life was severely maltreated autism, which Aquaman then cures him of with his magic water hand to completely redeem him. and this is obviously insanely stupid and ill-conceived and genuinely hateful, but given all of that, this is still one of the funniest speech balloons i've ever read in a comic. me @ myself when i remember how i acted in high school or whatever
i'm so sorry but also delighted to report that after black manta betrays aquaman it gets even funnier
"I've never heard of Megan Thee Stallion before" if you've ever said any variation of "Hot Girl Summer" then congratulations you've benefitted from an internationally popular Black female artist's creativity
"I thought those were just memes" yeah y'all tend to do this to a lot of things Black people create and/or do, while conveniently cutting them out in the process. You should really consider how easy it was and why that is. I do have a suggestion.
I feel like there’s also a racialized element haunting the conversation around shaving that I haven’t yet seen anyone really address (at least on my dash, I’m sure people ARE talking about it in general because I cannot possibly be the first person this thought has occurred to). there’s like the very basic point that if you are someone who grows thicker, courser body hair then you will be more prone to painful ingrowns and shaving regularly will absolutely exacerbate this, it was a thing I dealt with for years when I was still shaving my body hair and having stopped doing that has been tremendously helpful for my bodily wellbeing. but also overall I do think racialized people (obviously especially racialized women) can be more heavily targeted by the pressure to shave. not even necessarily because of the claim that we are “naturally hairier” or whatever because that’s really not universally true and I don’t think it’s super helpful to parrot that. but in my experience our body hair, largely regardless of its appearance or quantity, is frequently treated as more unsightly and less acceptable than that of our white peers for any number of reasons. and I do think that should be part of the conversation around abolishing a culture of shaving. it was something that impacted my life from a very young age in a way that was markedly different from and often actively enforced by my white friends and classmates.
literally why on earth are we ceding ground on the whole "trans women are women and trans men are men" thing isn't that like the one thing we should not be budging on i don't understand
Unfortunately a whole lotta trans men hate trans women so much they'd rather misgender themselves and all other trans men than accept the fact that they have male privilege.
