Robot fight nationals â
Wow this kid was a nerd.
He almost scoffed, but also he was mildly intrigued. Mildly, because robot fighting sounded like something he could be interested in, you know, if he outfitted a really fucking amazing robot that just smashed smaller robots.
âDunno if Iâve heard of robot fighting before,â said Bradley, his voice edged on teasing, enough to warrant a few chuckles from his companions, but he did raise an eyebrow to show a bit more interest, which made a couple of his gang slide this new fellow appraising looks. âHave you got any videos? Is it hard-core smashing stuff like a monster truck rally? Or, something tamer?â
Hiro flinched at how the energy surrounding the group changed so suddenly, as if Bradleyâs single movement would be enough to change everyone elseâs opinions on the matter. He told himself heâd never be part of a group like that, even though there he was, trying to impress the lot of them.
âWell, thereâs different categories,â he admitted, shrugging. âThereâs mini-sumo, which is tame and just pushing each other off the stage. But I do like the wrecking more.â
Hiro looked through his phone, and turned it around with a satisfied look in his eye to show his latest victory. It featured a bot that slid around the small round stage and, in a few seconds, reduced the opposing teamâs bot to shreds thanks to a pair of well-placed sawblades that made the defenseless metal creationâs parts fly all over the room.
âI donât do mini-sumo, though.â
