Who wants to have a long and heartfelt discussion about the very open displays of platonic affection in 03, created right in the thick of 9/11's aftermath so much that the first few episodes include the towers on the city skyline, and thus were able and willing to portray a softer side of masculinity that has since gone extinct in media SO badly that kids these days™️ MUST interpret all physical affection and deep, less superficial friendships as romance?

Oh also. Short friend moment.

There's a part where-- and I forget which episode-- April hugs both Donny and Leo after not seeing them for a hot minute and the way they just open up their arms like "aw yes April hugs :D " warms my heart every time.

Idk the little platonic relationships they all have is so. Grips fist.

AND LOOK. Look. I love shipping Leo and Usagi. But also the platonic relationship they have is just as important to me. Like, Usagi putting his hand on Leo's shoulder to comfort him during Samurai Tourist, when Leo's at a crossroads? Leo was genuinely comforted by it. AND IT WOULD HAVE HELPED, HAD GEN NOT BEEN A DUMBASS AND GONE MISSING. Usagi was the only one who Leo was even remotely willing to listen to because he's a fellow fighter, he knows what it means to lose an important fight.

There's also the part where they find Splinter again and just immediately scoop him up all together and snuggle him and I love it so much.

I love Golden Puck where Casey picks up Leo and shakes him. Like it's such a friend thing to do. I love it. fhgdkjfgh

I love that scene in one of the farm episodes where, while Casey and April are trying to have A Nice Scene, Leo gets yote in between them. The way he grins at them, dusts himself off and apologizes before going on his way is SO CUTE. And the way they act with Casey in the Ep where he takes April out in S2? SUCH brother behavior.

And YEAH, Usagi and Leo Samurai Tourist. Hang on hang on I gotta go feel emotions-- Leo being willing to consider that maybe if Usagi failed his singular mission, had his worst case scenario already come and gone, maybe Leo could forgive himself too. That he even considers it for a moment speaks so much to the friendship there and the level of care Usagi has for him.

When April's moving out and she tells Mikey that she used his comic books for wrapping and he shrieks and she's like "hehe no I didn't :) " and then he TURNS OFF THE LIGHT WHEN HE LEAVES the pETTINESS the SIBLING OF IT ALL I love them so much

ALSO YEAH YEAH Leo was willing to LISTEN, he could have GENUINELY been brought out of it if he hadn't been put in ANOTHER situation where he was helpless and his brothers were hurt. Usagi protected him while he was blinded by the powder but ough. Leo could have come out of it if not for that.

Also Leo helping April do all the apple stuff for Casey's mom to help her look good... just... very little brother behavior... love that for them...
