The more I am trying to help fundraisers reach a wide berth of people, the more I am realizing that tumblr is a very performative website. Posts which are detailing a fundraiser have very little interaction, as opposed to those that point out the injustice of it all and have a tone of anger. But anger is not sustainable...if you want us ( those who are actively monitoring the fundraisers ) to give you a cause to rally against, if that is the only thing what moves you to donate, then how long can this go on? What does it even say about how you view the lives of people who have been forced to fundraise? They are not tinder to keep stoking your fuel of righteousness.

Every fundraiser which I am personally monitoring seems to only crest when the tumblr community at large either feels that appropriate bit of "oh yeah look I am so cool for rallying behind the cause." Or if there is a tragedy, an unimaginable pain a person has been put through and thus can evoke enough empathy/sympathy in the masses....what is this? What can one even say to this?

Its always needs to be shocking and awful for people to give a shit on here, as if the situation isnt constantly shocking and awful. Even if we have momentum now i cant relax because i know it will die in a matter of hours and i will have to come around begging again for people to give a fuck.

I cant even imagine the pain and humiliation of being the palestinian person who actually needs help and has to beg people to give a shit, and so many people will straight up report them as spam and try to get their account deleted.

And tumblr will LET it get deleted because they are just looking for excuses to delete and silence ANYONE who isnt white or happens to be a trans woman.

Do you realise how dehumanizing that is? That people will automatically assume that you are not a real person because you dont speak the right language? Because you havent been immersed in the ambiently american culture of this website enough to navigate it "naturally"? Because reporting as spam is easier than doing the extra effort of even listening? All this while theres a genocide going on by people who have assumed that you are not worthy of the dignity of being considered human.

Shahed is a photographer did you know that? She has 6k followers on instagram, and its not a wonder why, im in awe of her use of colours.

She has had 6 tumblr accounts deleted since this genocide began, and she cant post her gfm on her instagram or her tiktok because she is afraid she might have her account deleted there too, as has happened to many other palestinians when this genocide began.

She told me that her family is in danger, that her little sisters are in constant pain because of the hepatitis, that she has to comfort those little girls when they cry because of all the noise from the bombings even when shes weak herself, that her parents are sick but pretend to be strong for her sake but she sees through the act, that she has to support her older sisters and their families too because she is the only one with any kind of income at the moment because of the donations

She also told me that she calms her little sisters down by telling them she will evacuate them soon, that she will egt them treatment soon, that she dreams of drinking clean water one day and being safe, that one day she will able to be sleep in peace

She told me she misses feeling safe

Have i made the case for her? Did i do it right? Did i prove to you that she is a talented artist who deserves to be invested in? Did i prove to you that she is a good and kind person who deserves to live unlike all the other dirty brown people of the world who dont?

Is that human enough for you? Is that real enough for you?

What more will it take? How much more evidence do you need? She will provide it because she is desperate enough. She has a family to care for.

Tumblr reblog chains are in danger.

It seems that the staff is actually going to go forward with their decision to remove reblog chains, where reblogs will basically work like regular comments on other websites.

This doesn't just make the site completely unusable, it removes the soul of the community that has managed to build up here over the years, and that I'm so happy to have recently joined.

It makes impossible the creation of great posts where many people build up a single thing, until it is a gem of expressed human creativity.

There will be no more world heritage posts, no more messing around with your mutuals, no posts worth remembering.

There will be no more Tumblr, and the Tikblr or TumbTube or whatever monstrosity is born from its corpse will soon die, as is probably the best. And then there will never be another place like this on the internet, no place anymore to run to, no more fun, no more community.

I recommend a simple course of action. When these changes get imposed upon us, stop using Tumblr. Get your mutuals' discords, your favourite artists' websites, and leave. If the Tumblr we have once known returns, we well too. If not, better let it die quickly than suffer a long and painful decline.

I beg you to reblog this, for the more people see it, the higher chanses are for this to work.

And add something, so we can show them what Tumblr is really for.
