I imagined many things he might have thought of in the last ten seconds. I drew them all. And yet, when I finished, I began to feel that perhaps, in those ten seconds, he thought of nothing but the sun was too bright.

some fun facts/details about this illustration:

all of these people (yes even the vague outlines in the background) are somebody associated with ham. you can try to figure out who is who, but i don’t think i even really remember since i didn’t write it down (not very wise i know)

the timeline here is a little skewed, it’s supposed to be sometime in the late 1780s or early 1790s but some of the people like lafayette were simply not in the US at the time, some, like RKM weren’t anywhere near ham or had enough free time to attend a celebration, and some had already passed away like tench tilghman, but they are all still in the background because i don’t care, they deserve happiness

the whole situation is not very realistic either, as — to my knowledge — birthdays were not really celebrated as grand occasions at the time, and even if they were hamilton would not have had enough money, time or enthusiasm to throw a huge party with that many people

this took me approximately 5h and i don’t have the speed paint because i still have little idea how CSP works and didn’t press record 🫠 but it’s alright, i still have the finished piece and that’s good enough for me hehe

anyways my work here is done *tips tricone and vanishes into the thick morning fog snaking its way through the streets of the city. it’s not as cold as it could be, after all if it were there would be sunshine from the first hour of day and your fingers would go numb before you could ever feel them turning blue. you turn around and head back inside the warm building, a bustling of servants preparing for the celebration ahead. a woman with a pained expression on her handsome face approaches you “we should be done at eleven if we hurry. come, i need you to do something for me.”*
