I have a theory about the Digital Circus 🎪
I know it’s supposed to be inspired by the I have no mouth and I must scream book
But after thinking about it a lot it also reminds me of Portal
Why Portal? Because in Portal you are a human that wakes up in a building controlled by one robot, Glados, and Glados hates humans and only has them do tests promising cake 🍰 so she can burn them at the end of the tests. But Chell our character escapes and destroys her leading to a comic and Portal 2 where you meet Wheatley a core that talks throughout the whole game.
How do I find this similar to Digital Circus 🎪?
Now in Digital Circus 🎪 everytime some abstracts someone new appears in the circus, yes?
What if Caine has all the planets humans in sleeping pods with headsets on and everytime someone abstracts he can just move on to another human in a sleeping pod, and when putting the abstracted people in the basement he just puts a big red ❌ on their door because he’s done with them, unlike in Portal where Glados just burns them after she’s done with them, Caine leaves them with a damaged mind in the sleeping pods.
And the flashbacks we see Jax have could be what happened before he ended up in a sleeping pod.
And Kinger being a worker who worked on the Digital Circus 🎪 could be the only worker who has been able to keep themselves together, just like Doug in Portal, he seems to go mad talking to a companion cube the whole time because he doesn’t have his medicine in his system and when he does the companion cube stops talking to him, and he later goes into a sleeping pod voluntarily.
And unlike in Portal 2 where Chell escapes to the surface, there is no exit in the Digital Circus 🎪.
In Portal Chell doesn’t age because she’s been in cryo-sleep for years, but in the Digital Circus we don’t know the state of the human bodies they could be ash or just bones, we don’t know if the sleeping pods even keep themselves together humans from aging. And if there are no more human bodies left that means Caine only has ether just their minds or their brains left.
Caine looking at the pictures could be him looking at kinger’s memories because our eyes are like a camera lens.
