So I did this photo shoot recently with Colombian jewelry designer Claudia who was introduced to me by my very good friend Yuki Tansengco. The former has recently released the latest collection of her line from Calima Jewelry, and together with hair stylist Jandra Babiera and photographer Laya Gerlock, we were able to produce the very first photo shoot for the designer.
So here's how you can recreate the look I did on model Xandra Rocha.
I always start my models by cleansing their face with MAC Wipes which is great to remove any existing makeup or dirt in general. I then spray MAC Fix+ to hydrate the skin followed by Physiogel Moisturizer suited for her skin type. It's important to have the water particles of Fix+ still present when applying moisturizer to allow the sealing of moisture onto the skin. The next product is MAC Fortified Skin Enhancer in Neutralize which is a primer and a corrector at the same time for any red pigmentations. Let it set for a while before applying any makeup.
Foundation is up next and for a dewy finish on the skin I decided to use my all time favorite MAC Studio Sculpt. Without setting it with powder I went right ahead in applying a bit of contour using Harmony blush, and topped it off with a pale pink blush in Well Dressed. Just right beside the outer corners of her eye, I draw a C-shape highlight using MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Blonde touching the peak of where the blush was.
For her eye makeup, I went with MAC Veluxe Brow Pencil in Deep Dark Brunette to match her hair color. Using a MAC Prolongwear Paint Pot in Painterly, I applied it all over her eyelids as a base to what I was gonna put on top. I simply dabbed a MAC eyeshadow in All That Glitters where her eyeball was, Espresso in her crease, and Ricepaper in the inner corners of her eye. Quick trend tip, dont put a brow highlighter anymore. Finish the look with a very thin line of MAC fluidline in Blacktrack only on the top lash line, and 2 coats of mascara using In Extreme Dimension 3D.
For the lips, I didnt use any lip pencil since I wanted her natural lip color to blend with MAC Sheen Supreme Lipstick in Tea Ceremony.
As a final touch, set everything using Prep+Prime Transparent Finishing Powder Pressed and then spray MAC Fix+ once again to seal everything into place.
The designer wanted the look to be very natural so these colors are perfect to showcase the main product which is the jewelry.

Eye makeup of the day. So easy to do, using nothing but Clearwater prolongwear paint pot, Blacktrack, and Fascinating :) #hamformac #hamoriginal #macmakati #maccosmetics #maccosmeticsph #ilovemyjob
But that doesnt mean you no longer have the chance to view and test the products available in this collection. :)
With 5 days for the launch of the collection, MAC Makati also re-promotes the store as its flagship with an event as big as the store itself.
In the last two days, I got the chance to do a workshop for the members of the United Makeup Artists of the Philippines, students of SoFA (School of Fashion and the Arts), and CAS (Center for Aesthetic Studies). The workshop was not exclusive to the members, but everyone who was interested in listening were requested to stay. And may I say, a lot of them did which made the workshop a success.
So on the first day, I worked with Joanna, a European model who had gorgeous skin so I wanted to showcase that in the look i had in mind. I had to do a day look for the first set of the workshop. Going with the current AW 2013 trend, I went with a bold red lip and a very neutral eye using products from the collection.
On the second set of the workshop, I had to transform her day look into something she can wear at night. So using the darker colors of the eye shadows featured in the collection, I then paired the look by toning down the lip color with the nude lipglass. Everyone seemed to have learned the easy way of doing their makeup after the workshop since I have been approached by several people telling me so.
This is me and Joanna after the workshop (pardon the stressed look on my face). I was so happy with how great her skin looks without using too much coverage. Correcting imperfections and flaws using skin care definitely helps a lot prior to starting your makeup.
For the second day, I had my very good friend Yuki help me out for the demo.
The workshop was about good skin so I did a demo for an hour and half explaining in detail how to achieve such look. I wanted to show everyone that good skin is attainable especially if you invest in products that is perfect for your skin type.
Yuki, on the left had so much compliments with how great her skin looks. I had the freedom to do any look on her after prepping her skin, so I decided to maximize the chance of showcasing all collections that we had this September.
Au-Currant was my chosen trend. To achieve this, I used products from the Prolongwear Collection, Antonio Lopez, Illustrated, Retro Matte, and Indulge. Whew! It may seem like a lot of products, but I used very little of each to achieve maximum impact.
I think to sum up the whole 2 days of the workshop I did can be justified by the faces on these people. My biggest thanks to everyone who participated and made this event a success.
Reb-Elle. Yes, the classic smokey eye is back and it comes in jet black. A play on this look is re-introduced in a solid black color smoked out from the waterline and diffused as much as far as you want. Quick tip is to use a black kohl pencil such as Smolder or Feline as your base so that you get a rich opaque color before patting your black eyeshadow in Black Tied or Carbon. If you want to give it dimension, you can also use a paint pot in Blackground prior to the eyeshadow. If your Reb-Elle eye is matte, go for skin that's more satin. But if you choose to go with a shimmery/glossy eye, then make your skin matte. Lips should be nude but allow the natural pink to show through by going for a sheer lip color such as Mineralized lipstick in Luxe Naturale dabbed all throughout.
QUESTION: I have thinning hair or excessive hair fall. What do I do?
ANSWER: I hate to break it to you, but there is no solution for this. All you could do, is prevent further hair loss. Sure there are a lot of products being marketed saying they are able to cure such condition, or their products could help thicken hair, but there really isn't. A single strand of hair takes years before it fully grows, roughly 6 years to be exact.
PRODUCTS: For people with this concern, you definitely have to avoid hair products that are too oily. Oil adds up weight, weight could weaken the hair's strength and cause it to fall out easier. Manage your hair's condition by always doing shampoo and conditioner. Intensive hair treatments is what you need to bring the strength that your hair needs.
How to: First give the hair layers to control volume and enhance look of waves. For color, start with highlights using no foil to easily blend naturally then rinse. Apply color half an inch away from the roots then leave for 25 minutes before applying to the roots. Leave another 15 minutes for the roots to process then rinse. Blowdry till layers are emphasized.
How to: Section hair from behind the ear. Braid the side sections going to the back till they meet at the center. Secure with bobby pins. Back comb the top part to get volume. Secure it with bobby pins and to cover where the two braids meet.
