Are you into resident evil? What games have you played?

Oh, hello! It’s been a long, long while since I’ve tried to actively return to Tumblr, so your ask was a surprise, but a very welcome one. It made me happy <3

To answer your question: I’d probably call myself more of a mid-level Resident Evil fan than a hardcore one, but yes, I do like Resident Evil very much depending on the title!

For example, I’ve played and immensely enjoyed Resident Evil 7, because it leans much more into the kind of horror I love which is the sort that creeps up on you slowly and then suddenly has its hand around your throat from behind. It felt much more organic at heart compared to some of the earlier titles I only watched others play.

Resident Evil 8 was a lovely continuation of Ethan’s journey, and I have to say, I adored the lords we got. I grew especially fond of Lady Dimitrescu and her daughters, and I was honestly sad to lose them so soon. I wanted so much more lore for them. Actually I wanted to write for them as well to dig in deeper, but as you know... life. Oh, and the DLC with Rose was so sweet. I hope to see more of her in the future!

And then there’s the newest one, Resident Evil Requiem. Well. It’s Leon fucking Kennedy. He’s a hot daddy, he still has the same gloriously dumb one-liners, and truly, what more is there to say? xD I really enjoyed the mixture of action and horror there too of course, it worked very much in my favor.

(Except for the fucking spider. Absolutely fucking not. That was awful. My phobia kicked in hard >_<)

Grace, though, was a pleasant surprise which I had not expected to like much. She really grew on me, and so did her chapters in the story. My poor girl, living trauma after trauma. And no joke, I even got a little attached to Gideon and Zeno too, for their… respective qualities. I have seen a lot of fanart since then. Ehem. Nice.

Needless to say, the game also felt like a heartfelt homage to Resident Evil 2, and even though I only know RE2 through watching a Let’s Play of the remake, the creators really did outdo themselves with how insistently they rang that nostalgia bell. I hope this answers your question. Thank you very much for the ask^^

I'm not sure if I seen any posts going around discussing the recent VERY DETAILED (and honestly kind of poetic in how vitriolic they are) AI generated spambots on AO3.

I feel like I just need to spread the word, because these guys are NASTY. But they aren't real! You can tell that by the fact that they don't mention a fandom, a character, or anything even remotely about the fic itself.

Just wanted to put it out there in case anyone gets one of these and it crushes them. Never stop writing. Writing and story telling is one of the oldest ways of connecting with other humans. It's a gift to this world. Keep writing!!!

“how to recognize AI in fanfic” — hey so this is another not-gentle reminder that AI stole from us. it’s using OUR words and OUR sentences and OUR styles.

writing “long” paragraphs is not a sign of AI — it’s a common narrative choice many writers make both in fanfiction and in traditionally published novels, and AI stole it from us.

using an em dash is not a sign of AI. it’s a stylistic sentence choice that’s been an option in place of commas and semicolons for a very long time, and AI stole it from us.

long sentence structures are not a sign of AI, but are yet another stylistic choice writers often make to create a cadence and tone that mimics the flow of poetry, and AI stole it from us.

“YA narrative breaks”? i don’t even know what the fuck this means, but i can guarantee that AI stole it from us.

italics are once again a stylistic choice that many writers love to use to create emphasis, and it’s a more stylistically acceptable and traditional form of emphasis than bold or underline text. oh, and just to be extra clear: AI STOLE IT FROM US.

stop creating fandom witch hunts over AI when you know fuck all about what it means to sit and write a story, and to spend hours fiddling with sentence structure and dialogue to get the exact right tone. writers will stop writing out of fear that their work “sounds like AI” — IT DOESNT! AI STOLE FROM US! AI SOUNDS LIKE US! — and after a while, all that will be available on AO3 is shitty AI-generated fanfiction.

because yeah, people are going to continue to use AI to write fanfiction whether you “call them out” or not. but making a laughable thread on X that uses asinine criteria is not going to fix that problem. it will just push the real writers out because people will accuse them of using AI when they haven’t, and they will (rightfully) stop writing for spaces that attack them.

anyway. fuck ai.
