Don’t think too hard about the fact that West Side Story meant enough to John and Paul that they wrote There’s A Place about escaping to their minds where they can be happy and it’s based on Somewhere, which is about taking comfort in the knowledge that one day you’ll live in a time and place where you can be together

And that everyone, including the two of them, refers to their relationship as “like a marriage” and that Tony and Maria aren’t able to get married but get married in their hearts and that West Side Story is a retelling of Romeo and Juliet with a different ending where one of them is shot to death and one of them survives

Don’t think to hard about that or you’ll have to stop and stare at the wall while you’re trying to do the dishes
