Sergeant Noel Ramirez and Deputy Taylor Lindsey of the Gilchrist Sheriffs Office, Florida, were ambushed on the 19th of April 2018. The Sergeant and his Deputy took their lunch break at a restaurant when a male suspect entered the restaurant. Both Officers were fatally struck. The suspect was located deceased nearby in his vehicle by responding officers.

He’s a coward, period. We don’t have any more information to release about him - the criminal investigation will ultimately determine some facts, but there will never be a reason for what he did to Sergeant Noel Ramirez and Deputy Taylor Lindsey. Nor will it ever satisfy their families. They sat down to eat, and were here to serve.For those that want to ask about evidence, the gun for instance – again, this is an active criminal investigation into the murder of two men. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement will find and evaluate any potential evidence for this homicide investigation and make any information available then, and only then. Noel and Taylor, both on duty and in uniform, were shot by the suspect from inside the business.Our deputies were ambushed. They were unable to return fire. The suspect was found deceased in his vehicle, parked at the business, from what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot.“
