Thought I'd try again and revisit an old idea from a different approach. Still not satisfied, but I'm OK leaving it like this. Little Megatron-to-be isn't even glued down yet. Simplifying his shape kinda gives a Darth Vader impression, I think.

Part two of working with @lovinglonerhybrid! I had a lot of trouble figuring out what to do for this piece. Starting out, the expectation was to keep him in base mode, but then I got the idea to show him on the move and, well, drawing him mid-transformation is rather beyond me so I settled for this instead, a nice basic drive, cruising toward a city skyline.

Once the scene was decided, I wanted it to be long enough to be convincing on repeat, to accompany any tune like a music video. I had the idea to have a variety of objects zooming into the foreground, 'cause hey, how tedious can animating be? Moving more little pieces isn't that much effort, is it? Except, turns out, I'm a rusty rust bucket who didn't even wanna alternate between two sets, so I plopped the extra building into the background and left it there. You can probably spot which one, on the far right.

How does Whirl scrunch up like that without clipping his leg through furniture? From which angle does the secondary light source enter? What's on the screen all blurry yellow? One of these questions miight be answered by reading The Beginning by Lonestararts.

This is the first piece I drew for this year's Big Bang. It's also the one scene I absolutely knew I wanted to put to paper when I scanned through the story outline. The overall composition more or less popped into my head as is—so from there it was really just a matter of adequately getting down the nitty gritty, bit by bit. Dare I claim several inches of pencil were expended in the process of shading this thing? All in all, a rather meditative experience. 10/10 (would not draw again)

There were so many interesting prompts this year, I kept getting distracted by what else was out there even though, when I signed up, I'd set out to draw fandom's favorite raptor birb, hoping for a grungy setting to cage him in—I had no idea I was still going to get that, but the universe delivered! I got my funky chicken, who accompanied me through watching a whole lot of TV this past summer...

I managed to finish early enough that I decided to have some fun piecing together a motion sequence, which was accomplished by overlaying multiple photos in certain sections and tweaking the lighting conditions for each shot. Love me some squinty distortion, though I gotta admit the skewed effect wasn't purely intentional; was also much much easier not having to line up all the edges just right :]

This isn't a preview, it's more of a what-if...which would've moved on to become watercolor if I had been assigned to that one mer!Jazz fic. Though it was not meant to be, the imagery still stayed with me, so I went ahead with visualizing the ultra climactic scene I already picked.

Sketching the composition for it was pretty satisfying...up until I had to figure out which other limbs to place where. And so I simply didn't.

Given the source material is ship fic, I knew the deuteragonist ought to feature in the next piece, and I had an idea for that too. My next choice to illustrate would've been the moment Rung walks in to witness Jazz's transformation getting out of the pool—that moment when he discovers the creature he's been seeing isn't so different from any other mech. I'd put in two reaction panels for him at the top then a splash page featuring Jazz, for whom I would've gone with a kneel/crouch dripping wet (in his IDW1 pre-war body?) but I never did get around to going any further than a rough gesture for the pose. So here's Mister Eyebrows getting an eyeful of something we don't :]
