I don’t think i reblogged this before but drinkyourfuckingmilk had some awesome tags that I really like!

#i think its really sweet how Hange was the only one in the survey corps who didnt treat isabel farlan and levi like criminal dirt#and actually made an effort to get to know them and be friends#i think its important as fuck to acknowledge this#what a cool human being#not to mention I think that would leave a big impression on levi#someone who his two closest friends approve of is kinna a big deal idk

That’s what I thought, too. That I think Levi’s so ?????? because 1.) he’s not used to praise, 2.) he’s not used to people acting positively toward him or his friends, and 3.) nobody else thus far has made an effort to be nice or even cordial to him or his friends. And here’s this random woman coming out of freakin’ nowhere all excited to tell him how cool he is and how much she admires his skill and it’s like. What. Why. Who are you. Why.

There is no doubt in my mind that Levi will never forget that. Ever. People don’t forget kindnesses like that. Everyone else treated him like a criminal/leper and Hange shows up and doesn’t give a shit she thinks he’s pretty neato and she’s gonna tell him. And it’s not a dare or anything. She’s genuinely. Interested. In him. (And his friends but mostly him since he’s the one with the skill.) But like. UGH. She’s just so nice and friendly here.

I mean consider the last or only time that Levi has had someone tell him that he (or something he did) was amazing.

I feel like it’s also significant that this positive attention isn’t restrictive, like in an oh-god-you’re-so-great-I-can-use-you-to-my-advantage sort of way. It’s actual appreciation for its own sake, and when you’re in Levi’s position, that’s pretty friggin rare.

yeah man, this is one of the most important aspects of levi and hange’s relationship that I like - she seems to be one of the few, if only people, who treated him like a person in his own right and not some hyper-powerful tool to be used to get an edge in battle or like some intimidating thug scum from the underworld and you can’t discount the effect that would have on someone like levi. and maybe out of everyone, he’d only ever be comfortable or willing to discuss isabel and farlan with hange since she was the only one who got to know them as people and seemed to really like them - she wanted to take them out for dinner after the expedition ffs. i think that’s quite important to note about their relationship.
