Watching someone sleep is pretty high up on the list of things that you shouldn't do.
He should stop, but there's something that freezes his feet in place, something that stops him from leaving when Hanbin snuffles and shifts onto his stomach, hair fanning across the blankets and his eyelashes defined against the pale curve of his cheekbone.
Hanbin's jacket is still on. He is covered from head to toe, and he's barely made it onto the bed before passing out, in a sleep so deep that he hardly moves.
There's concern, of course. But underlying it all, Hao likes–or something else–Hanbin, and he can't help but think that he looks peaceful in sleep. Pretty.
The tight line of his mouth spreads itself out again when he sleeps, parted slightly, each soft breath causing his chest to rise and fall underneath the comforter.
The urge to reach out and stroke his face surfaces temporarily, and Zhang Hao doesn't manage to smother it in time. He pats the back of Hanbin's head. He still looks – if Hanbin's eyes were open, he would smile, say something witty about Hao's insistent staring.
It was a hard day, Hao thinks, and it's more than practice that has Hanbin so exhausted. It's the weight of being the center, the weight of first place, the weight of the performance and the pressure of all the eyes looming over them.
Hanbin twitches slightly, wrinkling his nose. His breathing hitches, and Hao wonders briefly if he's having a nightmare.
Then something warm floods his stomach when Hanbin lets out a quiet, gentle sort of noise. Like a cat. Definitely not a nightmare. His expression is calm and relaxed, breathing even. The sound cracks at his chest, his heart open and wanting, warmth blooming into impossible fondness.
Hanbin takes care of everyone else. Hao wants to take care of him.
He moves the box first. He doesn't want Hanbin to bump his knee while he sleeps. He sets it on the dresser as quietly as he can, barely rustling the contents of it as he moves.
Hanbin gets warm easily, but still, he should sleep with a blanket over him–the rooms get unusually cold at night. The blanket is still folded neatly at the top of the bed, smooth and perfectly creased because Hanbin is a perfectionist in a sick kind of way.
He moves the blanket down from where it lays under Hanbin's hand, doing his best not to jostle him.
Hanbin raises his head, bleary-eyed and softer than ever. "Hyung," he says, so quiet that the cameras don't catch it.
"Mm," Hao responds, and he keeps wrapping the blanket around him. Hanbin rubs at his eyes, soft and puffy-faced, and Hao wishes he could hold him without the world bursting into flames.
"This is nice." Hanbin yawns. Hao drags the pillow down and folds the blanket over him again. Hanbin is awake now, and as much as he hates to admit it, he's a grown man who can probably take care of himself.
They're not even in the same dorm anymore. He should go.
"Good night, Bin."
"Hyung," Hanbin says again, and he's holding Hao's arm in both of his own now, like a sleepy, warm, koala.
"It would be nice," Hanbin holds his arm tighter. He's rubbing his cheek into Hao's arm, and Hao freezes, heart thumping rabbit-quick in his chest. "If you were my boyfriend."
"What?" Hao gapes. In his surprise, Hao falls over his own feet, landing in the bed with a soft oof. And he's falling, but his heart soars, threatening to break a hole through his chest.
"Ow," Hanbin cradles his arm where Hao had hit it while he'd fallen. "Wait, this isn't a dream?"

basically I have a group of binneul enjoyers and we've been talking about many concepts for haobin in that sense 🙏🏻 it's funny because somehow we created this thing about hao always wanting to get creampied and it Must be a coincidence but now in every fic it happens.
omorashi tho is a very me# thing im not even into it irl but I kinda like (love) the idea of permission/denial and humiliation that might come with it so that's why I want a haobin fic like that. of course hanbin is the one asking for permition and hao might keep saying no~. accidental kink for them

Every time I'm reminded that we are basically a week away from debut my stomach starts hurting... it's so NICE to be excited for everything an artist does and I know zb1 is going to change things forever. Being in my 20s and being able to enjoy being a ~fangirl~ makes me quite giddy.
