I think Dracula’s “dead wife” is actually Vanessa. Remember the show’s mythology: Two fallen angels. One banished to Earth (Dracula) and the other one to Hell (Lucifer). And both of them have been searching for the reincarnation of the ancient Egyptian goddess Amunet (Vanessa). I think Dracula is just rewording the story a little bit to make it sound like he lost his wife recently, when in fact he lost her thousands of years ago.

Actually I think he meant Mina. Dracula kidnapped Mina Murrey at one point (we didn’t get to see that). Sir Malcolm and Vanessa were trying to save her from the dark forces, vampires and what not, hired Ethan to kill whatever creature shows up in front of them, but couldn’t find her, until she showed up as already transformed vampire. He mentioned that his wife was dead for over a year; Mina got a bullet in her forehead last season.
