Blinkie Tutorial

Templates you'll need:

First step, open IbisPaint and import the pink blinkie base. This is just to keep the aspect ratio the same, so don't worry about preserving the pink blinkie after you import it.

For this tutorial, I'll be making a CFS blinkie with this flag as the background. You can use any color or background. If you're using a horizontal striped flag like I am, be sure to select perspective form so it will automatically resize, and then you can stretch it to fit the blinkie.

Now that your background is done, you can add text, decoration, etc!

Now it's time to add the actual blinkie part. Insert the black and white template on a new layer right on top of the background. It should fit perfectly.

If you want to keep it black and white, ignore this next step. Here I will show you how to color the dots easily. I'll be picking purple and blue for my dots.

Make two layers above the blinkie part and set them both to clipping layers. One will be for recoloring your white dots, the other for you black dots.

Color one of the layers entirely with your first color, then set it to "Lighter Color". This will color only your black dots.

Do the same with your other color on the other layer, and then set it to "Darker Color". This will color only your white dots.

Boom! Now you've got your first frame!

To get your 2nd frame, simply click the invert button on the blinkie frame.

Now you've got both your frames!

Now just pop these frames into EzGif's Gif Maker (or any other gif maker), and you're done!

Congrats! You've made a blinkie!

The reason that BIPOC-exclusive presentation terms are coined is because BIPOC are excluded from terms such as femme, bear, otter, and the like because of being people of colour.

I, as an Indigenous man, cannot wear long hair (which is masculine in my culture) and call myself a butch without being told that my hair is too long for me to be a butch, due to the colonial gender binary that is put onto me. Black twinks are told that their skin is too dark for them to really be twinks, and Black femmes have their femininity denied to them for being Black. East Asian men are constantly put into the box of twink for being East Asian thus assumed to be feminine based on, again, the colonial gender binary.

This is why people coin BIPOC-exclusive presentation terms.

A presentation term coined to be exclusive to Germans, which I have seen at least three flags for, has nothing to do with this. I genuinely cannot see a reason why one would do this except to feel included as a white person.

our Ko-fi is meant as a way to show thanks or to help us out with finances. at most, what you get from it is our appreciation and you can tell us if there's a specific type of archival work you want us to focus on for the day, like backtagging, queueskipping a specific type of post, or doing image descriptions

we're unable to get a job for the summer and need funds for our university residence, food, and Judaism course. we're not in a life-or-death situation, so don't feel bad for not donating, but we wanted to put the option out there for anyone who wants it

we aren't going to be pushing this. there'll be a link to the Ko-fi on the tag directory, a link in our pinned post, and we'll only bring it up when asked or when in a tight financial spot. it is purely there on the off chance anyone wants to donate

i'll be reblogging this a few times during the day as posts can get pretty easily buried on our blog, but after that it will fade into the background
