We all know Moria loves to torture us so I think Gilbert DOES propose, and he take Winnie to graduation/prom. They look all nice and happy and everyone is congratulating him and then he sees Anne and he’s taken aback by how pretty she looks and he’s doing the heart eyes. Somehow they get alone to talk and she’s all crongrats on Winnie and they’re talking about school and then...

She mentions the pen. And how she asked for it back. Gilbert’s confused, his eyebrows wild. She see’s this and mentions the note.

“Note?” Says Gilbert.

Now Anne is confused.

“The note I left for you? The one where I asked for my pen back and confessed my...”

They’re staring at eachother, Gilbert realizes he’s made a terrible mistake and Anne realizes he never read it, Winnie appears again on Gilbert’s arm as they both stare at eachother in realization of the mess they’re in.

in season 3 episode 5 gilbert is seen cutting up carrots. here, carrots may be interpreted to represent the character of anne shirley cuthbert (on account of her having red hair). in conclusion, in season 4 gilbert will slice anne into pieces

Theory-

The end of this season will be Anne and Gilbert realizing their feelings for eachother. They’ll go their separate ways, but it’ll be implied they’ll come back for eachother. If there is a season 4, it’ll be a time jump to after queens.
