From the Trans Bodies, Trans Selves resource guide edited by Laura Erickson-Schroth. #trans #comingout
To be in #transition is not just a physical process, and in fact, I'd argue that for me it is, in fact, the intellectual and emotional transition that I've gone through that has been integral to the formation of my still fresh self-concept outside of the #genderbinary. It is the radical opening I've had to do of long-closed emotional doors deep inside myself that's really worked to my favor in this ongoing process of cementing my own radically #queer selfhood and identity in the world as it stands today. I'm trying to accept these feelings of fear in vulnerability and work with them rather than through them, recognizing them as a fundamental inevitability brought on by the lack of air in a cultural closet which queer folks keep getting locked in. But to live queer and open is to kick down those doors day after day (as long as you have the energy to do so), to hold demonstrations or even just go out and meet people and go to coffee or meet their families and talk about our experiences, raw, real, and uncensored. To talk about the actual physical and emotional toll of being queer in a society that doesn't dare dream outside the heteronormativity of the Utopian States of America, God bless all who have enough to buy a slice of our steaming apple pie, and then, to juxtapose it with the joy. If we can show the absolute, unbridled joy of living liberated from all societal expectations (just look at my face here), labeling oneself according to how one sees fit, or shirking labels altogether and turning our backs on the ideas of masculinity and femininity and just expressing ourselves how we choose and forming connections that transcend physical anatomy or societal standard, we can maybe help them see just exactly what is at stake here. The happiness, or even just plain emotional wellbeing of tens of thousands of people depend on how we frame the national conversation around gender identity and sexual orientation. We must all let go of the rosy idealism of the outdated, myopic concept of the nuclear family and open ourselves up to the idea of radically new, queerer ways of being and loving, even if not all of us want to necessarily BE queerer in being OR loving. #trans

From “Queering the Underground: An Interview with George Jackson Brigade Veterans Rita ‘Bo’ Brown and Ed Mead” by Daniel Burton Rose in That’s Revolting! Queer Strategies for Resisting Assimilation edited by Mattilda Bernstein Sycamore. If you think that anarchist direct action isn’t the way to incite change, you may need to take a second look at the tactics that it stands against. You will find much more inhumanity in the institution than in the rebellion, and as such you will find more liberty in rebellion than in the institution.
Good morning, world! #sunrise

being bisexual and having different feelings when ur attracted to guys than when u are to girls is so hard to explain bc being attracted to a guy is like “ah” and being attracted to a girl is like “oo” but that doesn’t make any sense to anyone but me
