she assumed as much, it was an idiotic question to ask in the first place. the fact that he was sitting in front of her was strange and she stood there for a few moments quietly analyzing the situation. “ yeah… i’ve been here for almost three years. ” she replied, watching the cat and keeping her eyes everywhere but his. “ – i guess the normal thing to ask right now is how you’ve been. so, i mean, are you liking it out here ?? ” teagan had a way with making everything awkward when it didn’t have to be. she cleared her throat and hugged her arms across her chest.
haz gave her a small look at her obvious attempts at being casual and nice. he set his guitar to the side and scooted over, patting the spot next to him so she could sit down. “it’s not too bad. meet a lot of interesting characters and i like being near a beach,” he replied. “how’d you end up here?”
She had few rules in this world, one of the main ones being-never get involved with a client and the other being don’t trust the boy playing the guitar. She’s enjoying some aqua fresca when the notes find her, putting down her issue of vogue she looks up and swallows. Instead of a tip she leaves him a card-her card and then she goes back to her ready and drinking.
Haz noticed the woman place a card in his case, so after he finished whatever it was he was playing he collected the cash and coins, put his guitar away, strapped his case to his back, and then made his way to where she was sitting and reading. “You left this card?” he asked, showing it to her, holding it between to fingers.
Enjoying a day off she was wandering around the city with her camera in hand. Parker found herself relaxing more when she was taking the photos, it allowed her to take her mind from recent events. With headphones on, music was filling her as she took another photo of people in the park when from the corner of eyes she saw a guy with a guitar and cat? She was intrigued by the duo, removing headphones she approached them and took a few photos before standing almost too close. “Haven’t heard this, are you a composer?” she asked quietly not wanting to disturb the man or the cat.
Haz noticed a girl taking pictures of him, but he assumed she didn’t want him to know that so he just kept his head down, eyes on his instrument, a peaceful expression on his face. He only glanced up when she approached him and he smiled a bit. “Composer? I wouldn’t say that. I’m a journalist, actually. But that wasn’t anything in particular, just some chords I think sound nice together.”
Teddy was kind of in awe of anyone that could play a musical instrument. He did not have a musical bone in his body and was completely tone deaf; when he was younger he’d always envied the kids who had those talents. As he’d grown older, though, he’d grown less jealous and more appreciative. So, when he noticed someone strumming a guitar in the park as he walked his dog, he had to approach and listen for a moment. When the playing stopped, he pulled out his wallet and placed a $20 bill in the rapidly filling guitar case. ❝ You’re good, man. Really talented. ❞
Haz raised his eyebrows when a guy who’d been watching him for a couple moments dropped a twenty in his case. “Thanks,” he replied gratefully, resting his wrist lazily on his guitar to give his fingers a short break. “Self-taught, believe it or not. Gave me something to do when I was traveling.”
Since he knew the rainy season was quickly approaching, Andrew had been spending more time doing his cardio outdoors. Mostly the park but he’d taken a few runs on the beach as well. He was getting it out of his system before he was stuck only doing cardio indoors. He’d stopped to get a drink of water and managed to catch the strumming of a guitar over the music blasting in his headphones. Wiping his mouth with the back of his hand, he followed the sound of the guitar until he was standing a short distance from the bench he’d taken purchase on. “You’re pretty good with that guitar. What song is that?”
Haz glanced up from his guitar when he noticed a pair of large running shoes in front of him and he smiled at the man wearing them, expression as warm and welcoming as ever. “Thanks. I’m self-taught, so that’s a pretty big compliment.” He quieted his playing to mindless strumming and he shrugged his shoulders. “I just play whatever happens to pop into my head.”
Adrian had lived in Los Angeles for his entire life, which meant that he’d come across more than his fair share of street performers. Usually he paid little attention to them, ducking his head and quickly walking past so that they wouldn’t think he was interested in whatever they were playing. He wasn’t a sucker for musicians by any means - but he was a fool for animals. Adrian fancied himself more as a dog person, but every part of him felt like it was some kind of sin to walk past the cat without stooping down to say hello. He carefully ignored the musician, choosing to focus in on the cat instead. “You’re almost as small as my puppy,” he said, obviously to the cat instead of to the human.
Hari continued playing when the man knelt down to say hi to Mishay. He merely glanced at the two of them, smiled, and continued on with his song. Mishay enjoyed the attention, rubbing up against the man’s legs and hand when it was offered. After he finished the song, he reached into his bag and silently offered the man a small tin of cat treats so he could offer one or two to Mishay.
the girl’s usual strolls through the park were never very long. she always found herself sinking into her own little world, completely oblivious to everyone else. teagan didn’t have to be ready for work for another two hours and the early evening breeze was keeping her in a good mood. she glanced up from her path as she started to hear the closeness of chords being played on a guitar. as she came up to the man strumming, she intended to drop the two dollars she had in her pocket into his case, but after taking another look over him she clenched her fist around the money. “ –- haz ?? ” she said it quietly, but loud enough to for him to hear as she stood to his side. maybe her mind was playing tricks on her and this man was someone completely unrelated to her high school sweetheart. “ uh…. um, what are you doing in la ?? ” she questioned once more as a cat came up to her ankles.
haz glanced up when someone said his name, an easy smile on his face until he recognized the girl standing in front of him. “teagan,” he greeted, his eyebrows resting a little lower than usual. “i’m... living here? going to school. existing.” he cleared his throat and carefully set his guitar down into a more comfortable position and mishay hopped up on his lap, settling down to nap again. “i’m surprised to see you here. didn’t think you’d leave louisiana.”
Halley loved taking the tiny human out on a mid day stroll through the park. Fresh air was good for the both of them, and she loved the way he babbled away happily to stranger as they passed. It wasn’t the first time they’d come across the young man and his guitar in the park, nor the first time they’d stopped to watch him play. This time Halley had come prepared, reaching under the pushchair she pulled out a square cake tin and twenty dollars from her purse. Waiting until he’d finished his current rendition, Halley dropped the note in his case and then held out the tin.
( “For you. Butterscotch cupcakes, homemade and
utterly irresistible - if I do say so myself.” )
Haz beamed when he saw a familiar woman and little boy stop in front of him and he changed the tune to something the baby might recognize. He chuckled as he clapped along, nodding his head supportively. At the end of the song, his eyebrows raised when he saw the woman drop a twenty in his case and he reached out to accept the tine.
“Butterscotch cupcakes? Sounds amazing. I have a feeling this will be a real test on my self-control,” he said gratefully. “Y’know, I’ve seen you two quite a bit but I’ve never caught your names. Since we’re on the cupcake base we should have a formal introduction. I’m Haz. Great to meet you.”
Thomas usually changed the environment in which he worked - it allowed him to experience and draw from different sound atmospheres. He was sitting on a bench when he noticed someone sit on a nearby bench. And then he heard music. It was better than he was expecting and allowed him to write a few poems.
He turned to where the noise was coming from. “Do you frequent this park?”
Haz had noticed the man sitting nearby when he’d settled down on his bench and tried to be quiet enough that he wouldn’t bother him too terribly much. They went about doing their respective tasks for a while in verbal silence, so he was surprised when the guy spoke up.
“Me? Oh, yeah. I suppose so. I try my best to explore other areas of the city, but it’s pretty close to my apartment so it’s an easy stop when I don’t feel like getting lost. What about you?”
Preston was used to seeing musicians on the street - it was almost an every day occurrence. Sometimes he even would practice his rather lame guitar skills out in the sunlight instead of in the confines of his own apartment. What he didn’t see every day was a musician accompanied by a cat. He had to do a double take to make sure he wasn’t seeing things. The odd sight drew him in closer, and by the time he got over to the man, Preston was leaning down to give the cat a pet hello. “Does it always sit with you like this?” Preston called over the noise of the strumming.
Haz glanced up from the strings, his fingers still plucking away at them with practiced ease. His gaze shifted from the stranger to Mishay and he couldn’t help but grin. “She does. I wouldn’t say she’s my cat, we have a pretty open relationship, but she stops by my place for food and likes to chill with me when I go places in the neighborhood. Pretty cool friend, if I do say so myself. I call her Mishay and she seems to like that well enough.”
Life typically wasn’t so hectic, but between smashing his phone on set and the sudden absence of his manager Isaiah’s life has become a whirlwind of action. If this is what he could expect in LA, he didn’t imagine staying long willingly. Sunday was a much needed break for him, his agency promised to find a new agent for him soon and his new phone was delivered the night before. Things were turning up as he left the AT&T, his phone was still configuring, downloading all of his old information as he walked down the block. Taking a quick shortcut through the park he was surprised to see a cat of all things sitting next to a man with a guitar. “Do you take requests?”
Haz glanced up when a passerby spoke up, smiling a little. “Yeah... why not?” he replied, strumming a random chord to end the tune he’d been making up. “What can I play for you on this fine day, sir?” Mishay got up from where she was lounging in the sun and began rubbing against the stranger’s legs. That was always a good sign.
Haz had found himself bored out of his mind after studying for a little while; he adored learning but his math class was killing him slowly. So he did what he always did; he packed up his backpack, grabbed his guitar, and set off down the sidewalk with his cat, Mishay, walking by his side. There was a park not far from his apartment that he liked to sit on a bench and just play. Sometimes people left money, sometimes they didn’t, but it made everybody around him happier. So he set up shop, relaxed back on the bench, and mindlessly began to strum whatever popped into his head.
Heyo. Below is some information about Hari, feel free to like this or message me if you’d like to plot.
Is that [AVAN JOGIA]? No, that’s just [HARI "HAZ" REESE] the [22] year old [JOURNALIST]. In Olympus [HE] was actually [HERMES] but they have [NO] recollection of that.
Haz was born and raised in Louisiana. His father is an extremely, extremely wealthy American man named Michael Reese (owner of a series of successful businesses in several different industries) and his mother is an Indian socialite.
He has an older brother and an older sister who are both extremely successful in their respective fields, as well.
He was never willing to fit into the mold his family wanted him to. He thought the way his father conducted business was deceitful and cruel and certainly illegal. So he went about trying to sabotage whatever he could whether it be business relationships, orders, numbers, etc.
When he was seventeen he wrote an article about the corrupt nature of his father’s companies and sent them to major news outlets. HIs father found out, however, and was able to cover things up enough that the work amounted to nothing.
After he graduated high school his family was done with him and he was done with them so he took the money they threw at him and traveled. He’d always been a talented writer and had no problems selling off his freelancing articles to make a living.
He’s in LA to start taking classes at UCLA and settle down for a bit (though it isn’t unusual for him to take off on random road trips or camping trips; he prefers life on the road and finds living in one place too long constricting).
other things:
His name is Hari but in his writing and in general he goes by Haz (it was a way for him to kind of remake himself after moving out). He only allows certain people to call him Hari.
He’s extremely intelligent and cunning.
He’s really laid back and easy to get along with for the most part.
He adores helping people and talking to strangers.
Took in a stray cat he named Mishay and they’re buddies. She comes and goes as she pleases but always returns to him.
Hermes, an Olympian god in Greek religion and mythology, the son of Zeus and the Pleiad Maia, and the second youngest of the Olympian gods. He was the emissary and messenger of the gods. He is described as moving freely between the worlds of the mortal and divine, and was the conductor of souls into the afterlife. He was also viewed as the protector and patron of roads and travelers.
