School Year Ambassador Program - Boston & New York City

The Olmsted Center for Landscape Preservation School Year Ambassador Program provides young people in Boston and New York City the opportunity to explore resource stewardship practices through a variety of educational workshops and hands-on field experiences during the school year. As School Year Ambassadors, youth provide support to national parks and are engaged in training sessions to address on-going landscape stewardship projects. Throughout the year youth continue to build professional development skills and explore career and education pathways.

The 2018 Ambassadors are Jeremiah, Connor, Songrun, Ardo, Ehab, Jaden, Joshua, Sally, Tyrese, and Joel! Please take a minute to read their introductions and follow their journey on the School Year Ambassador Blog and Instagram.

I just learned that climbing the Mount Everest cost between 45 and 110 000 dollars and you have 1 chance in 10 to die.

This is complete madness. You are basically paying a huge amount of money to maybe (maybe) get at the top…. but are most likely to get sick, lose a limb or die before you even get to the the top. 

And bonus part: If you die, your body is gonna stay on that mountain. There is dozen of very visible bodies on the way to the top. They are so visible that they became point of reference for climbers. 

I cannot understand why anyone would go through this just to what ? Say you have been at the top of a mountain and contributed to pollute it ( because yes the mount Everest is now covered in trash left by climbers )

It's been ages, and I was feeling really down, but Stella and I got back on the trail! We struggled with pictures a bit, but it all came together. It was a perfect post-labour day hike. 💚

Did you know Wisconsin has its own Yellowstone [Lake] State Park!? Got the boys out for a hike! We learned about some plants and that there are BEAUTIFUL state parks in Wisconsin. I love it.

Getting into some State Parks! The Governor Dodge State Park was perfect! So welcoming and so green! It's exactly the kind of forest I like. And Stella had a blast getting into the lake. 10/10 will hike again.
