Ok, it's no secret that I have a few criticisms of the Unstable SMP, only because I really like the content and I feel like if you can't look at something you like objectively you don't like it enough.

One of the major criticisms that I currently have is that death no longer feels like a big deal. I've felt that way for a hot minute about how its been going and I've been making a spreadsheet about the deaths in Unstable so I've finally come to a conclusion about why.

It is fully because in the beginning of Unstable SMP, almost every death meant something. When any of the main characters killed someone, there was a reason for why they were killed and even if they were just part of a group, it was small enough for the character to be unimporant. With the 1000 player things going on (DONT GET ME FUCKING STARTED ON THAT TITLE BRO) seeing characters die doesn't seem at all important and it just seems like the filler characters are only there to die.

With smaller groups you can pretend that these characters are joining a group for a specific reason, with larger groups it becomes a lot harder to think of why 1000 players would all be there.

I know that Wemmbu's entire thing is his orbitals and they're meant for mass destruction/death, but none of it seems as solid anymore. In an ooc way it might be because they know their audience and adolescent boys are crazy abt mass destruction and shit so yknow full respect to the YTbers for getting their grind on ig.

a character who truly, legitimately goes “but why does that matter?” about their feelings when someone who cares about them asks. and the sudden falling of everyone around them’s faces as they realize that this person doesn’t recognize themself as someone who needs or should be taken care of. i want Everyone to hurt. surprise at the idea, worry for them, horror at not having noticed. do you see this person who doesn’t think of themselves as a person?

Jamato doesn’t WANT to kill. He doesn’t want revenge. He wants something adjacent to peace, and if I was being elaborate I may even say he wants ataraxis or harmony. He doesn’t want to fix the server persay like Lettuce wanted to (even though he wanted to initially enforce the WILL of the server, it got too out of hand).

Jamato wants that balance, because he has seen what happens when things aren’t. He has been out into the Farlands and Furtherlands, he knows of the Underworld, he knows of the exploits. He knows what happens when power already unchecked gets into even more unchecked hands.

Most notably Spoke, but also Wemmbu.

Now to go off of Rat’s points, I do think that Jamato has unsavory feelings towards them, but I don’t think he would actively seek revenge. He’s sort of like the overwatcher, and would step in if he saw that things were getting out of hand.

My guy is literally the Gandalf and/or Galadriel of Unstable.
