How HarMonica Works: The Spiral Isles & The Archives

The Spiral Isles are , as their name suggests, a duo of isles that form a spiral. Many HarMonicans and HarMonicologists come to the Isles seeking knowledge from the expansive and enigmatic Organ Archives.

The non-musical residents of The Archives are very curious. They somehow seem to know the answers to whatever question a visitor may have, albeit sometimes answered very confusingly.

The Isles are also home to one very strange creature, the [???]. Named UnLyriCan by HarMonicologists due to its ability to sing in perfect HarMonious, the [???] Is one strange mishmash of parts.

UnLyriCan was originally created to be the perfect amalgamation of every Gene discovered on the Spiral Isles, according to concepts and notes found in the Organ Archives. Something went wrong during its creation, however [most likely the addition of the Web Gene], which lead its creator to deem it a faliure and abandon it. The UnLyrican now wanders the Archives, seemingly searching for something, perhaps a name, or some object of power that it believes will make it no longer a faliure in the eyes of its creator.

How Harmonica Works: The WebWob.

The Greater WebWob is a large crescent-shaped landmass partially surrounding the Lesser WebWob. The Lesser WebWob is a very small island housing the Web Workshop.

The WebWob as a whole was once very welcoming and hopeful (frutiger aero type energy ) , but due to the Schism, it was completely destroyed and corrupted. It is now completely abandoned and filled with all kinds of bugs, both literal and digital. This destruction is what prompted the alternate name "the continent of Ruin" for the WebWob.

I feel the WebWob is also quite cold, due to it"s proximity to what looks to be a very snowy continent atop HarMonica.

How HarMonica Works: Languages.

The typical language spoken in HarMonica, besides Music, is named Harmonious. Harmonious is spoken by almost all HarMonicans, albeit with some variations to words depending on the region it is being spoken in, sort of like a dialect.

Harmonious has a written form too.

There is also Loonian, the language the Moon/Loona speaks. Almost all Nonsense-gened HarMonicans can understand Loonian.

And Gamma-Monsterous, the language the Gamma-gened HarMonicans speak, which is just basically Monstrous from MSM.

Any HarMonican that sings in English in-game would be speaking Harmonious in-universe, with the ecxeption of the Mutomic Metropolis lyricist, who is singing in Gamma–Monsterous, and Loona, who sings Her lullaby in Loonian, of course.

this is the first post in the series of "How HarMonica Works" which is going to be a multi-part series of textposts about well, how HarMonica works! [They will be quite theory/headcannon heavy though, due to the lack of info] This post focuses on the planet of HarMonica, as well as it's regions.

About The HarMonican Planet🌍

☆ HarMonica is a spherical, earth-like planet, with multiple landmasses housing Regions. The Regions are places in-game where you would be able to obtain HarMonicans, and collect them to form the regions song. There are eight named regions, with two having revealed designs.

The regions are;

☆ Web Workshop [part of the Lesser WebWob, within the Greater WebWob]

☆ Organ Archives [most likely part of the Spiral Isles

☆ Flora Farmlands [part of the OverGrove]

☆ Nonsense Island (?) [On the moon]

☆ Gamma Gulch [underwater]

☆ Undead Island/M'duuza's Manor [part of the Heeby-Jeeby Hills, which seem to be next to the Spiral Isles]

☆ Mutomic Metropolis. [Underwater]

M'duuza's Manor, Gamma Gulch and Mutomic Metropolis are special regions, each with planned gimmicks. I will talk more about this in a separate post.

The biggest landmass in HarMonica is The Greater WebWob, and the smallest seems to be either the Lesser WebWob or the Spiral Isles.

The planet is also orbited by a single moon, known as La Loona by residents of HarMonica. La Loona gets Her name from a character in what seems to be a HarMonican [most likely OverGrovian] fairy-tale.

The next part to this will be the language[s] spoken on HarMonica .

I need to dump some headcannons/theories about HarMonicans onto yall long post ahead

☆ first of all, the HarMonicologists mentioned in a few monster's bios are not human. To me, they're sorta humanoid creature things, that have a common ancestor with HarMonicans such as mod.ma, and they are basically the HarMonican equivalent to Monster-Handlers.

☆ the language spoken by the HarMonicans is called Harmonious. Harmonious also has "variants" (?) depending on the region it's being spoken in. A Harmonican from the OverGrove would speak Harmonious slightly differently than a Harmonican from Web Workshop for example. Another language spoken is Loonian. The HarMonican moon sings in this language, and most Nonsense-gened HarMonicans can understand it.

☆ the Harmonicans in Gamma Gulch speak a language practically identical to Monstrous. (Because of, the previous association to MSM.]

☆ Evergreen Marsh exists in HarMonica as part of the OverGrove, and Harmonicans from the marsh basically have the Harmonious equivalent to a southern accent (?)

☆ UnLyriCan was planned to be the perfect amalgamation of all discovered Genes at the time [nonsense and flora hadn't been discovered yet while it was being made] , but something went wrong during its creation and it was deemed a faliure and scrapped. It was never named officially by its Creator, which lead it to the Archives in search of a name.

☆ Handmond was originally Andmond, a Gamma-gened Harmonican. It wished to arise to the surface and see all of HarMonica. That wish was granted, but not in the way it hoped it would.

I also need to talk about how HarMonica was affected by The Schism.

☆ The Greater WebWob was the most affected, becoming chaotic, distorted and run-down. The Lesser WebWob was also heavily affected, with intense infestations of bugs, both literal aand digital. These bugs still exist within the Lesser WebWob, although much less due to Harmonicans such as Eyeris and Mod.ma

☆ The Organ Archives were affected too, with many of its records being corrupted, edited or destroyed, and the Archives themselves being vandalised.

☆ Gamma Gulch was split in two, and the Gamma-gened HarMonicans separated from the others went into hiding , later becoming what we now know are "Mutomic" HarMonicanns.

☆ The OverGrove was the least impacted. There was destruction, which lead to many plants going extinc, but it stayed stable, unlike the WebWob.

Most of my theories, headcannons and overall HarMonicans-related blabbering goes here now so as not to clutter my main. Of course, i will still post about HarMonicans on main but this blog is for theorizing and trying to build on the world of HarMonica.

I am not/was not part of the HarMonicans dev team, this is just for fun.
