First shots of tiny worlds. One of the photos was heavily edited. I used a tripod to keep the camera stable and a Panasonic G9 with a 25mm and a range of apertures f/7.1, f/10 and f/11.

To blur or not to blur
Blur motionÂ
Technical: ISO 200, shutter speed 15sec, f/8, focal length 28mm and a tripod
Zooming
Technical: ISO 200, shutter speed 0.4sec, f/8, focal length 12mm and a tripod
Panning
Technical: ISO 1600, shutter speed 1/15sec, f/2.8, focal length 13mmÂ
Freeze motion
Technical: ISO 200, shutter speed 1/2500sec, f/5, focal length 35mm
Focal Length Task
The field of view becomes progressively narrower as the focal length increases. Due to the aperture and distance from subject everything remains in focus throughout each shot. The shields as the main subject becomes more obvious as the lens zooms in.
Technical: each photo had a f/8, ISO 200, the wider shots had 1\100sec and the zoomed had 1\125sec. I used a tripod for these photos. I was using a micro 4/3 camera so the focal length were approximate.

Still life plan
My plan is to produce three still life images. I will be producing them at home.
ObjectivesÂ
Create three still life images
Improve my research and development skills
Find suitable objects which are similar to the ones in the photo
Make the photos comparable but not the sameÂ
Find a suitable location to shoot the photos
Possible routes of investigation
I went onto safari and found this site: https://www.the-aop.org/find/photographers/profile/533/hugh-johnson. His still life picture of bread caught my eye and I went to his own website to get some more information. I also used this site to find Louise Hagger whose still life was a shot of fruit. Mickie Acierno was the last one I found on safari and his subject was rocks.
I found all these photos interesting because of how simple but detailed they were. The first photo of the bread looks like itâs just been baked and come straight out the oven. The loaf is sharp and the rest of the image slightly less. The picture has contrast with the multitude of colours on the bread and the dull grey of the slab. This photo was probably used for advertisement purposes. The fruit has been placed neatly one piece on top of the other like a sculpture. The background and foreground have contrasting looks with the former having a bright colourful look and the latter a more toned down look to it. The final photo is of rocks. A dark background is used and the subjects are being lit from above with a powerful cool temperature light. This seems like a personal project of Mickie Acierno.
Possible material and techniquesÂ
For this still life shots I will need rocks, fruit and bread
I will need to find a suitable place to take the shotsÂ
I will need to get light sources for some of the shots

John Hurt
David Eustace has captured an excellent close up shot of John Hurt who is in several of my favourite films such as V for Vendetta and Alien to name a few. The image has a very shallow depth of field as the background is blurred and even his ear is marginally out of focus. It was taken during the day and it looks like it was cloudy. Eustace is a Scottish photographer well known for his fashion, celebrity and art photography. This portrait of Hurt is a prime example of his celebrity work.
Berlin   Â
Erwin Olaf has taken a distant portrait of a boy sitting emotionless in a chair, staring directly at the camera . Everything in the shot is sharp and in focus. The mood is enigmatic: his legs are cropped and he is wearing gloves indoors. The dominant colour is brown and everything seems very angular. It was taken during the day and is using natural light from a window. Olaf is a Dutch photographer most well known for his commercial and personal work. This looks like the latter as he looks like he could've been at a funeral.
