hh i can’t stop thinking about how refreshing and groundbreaking it would have been if they had kept soren paralyzed
sigh.......... i dont like......... that the adult characters who are the kindest and learn from their mistakes are always the ones who get killed off in like, media in general. i love harrow but strongly dislike the messages the show is sending about him, probably unintentionally.
i just find it interesting how his and callum’s conversation in s1 completely contrasts what he says in his letter. “there are centuries of histories, generations of wrongs, on both sides. i know i will pay the price for the choices i’ve made” vs “history is a lie. do not let the past define your future as i did” i don’t like how they make harrow exclude himself from this freedom.
i suppose i don’t agree with narratives that hinge on the promise of younger generations having a clean slate, being better and stronger than the older generation because it takes away agency from people who do in fact have the power to change at any time. it seems.......... weirdly cheap. if you want change, you need to work for it. harrow didn’t need to lay down and die to find redemption. in fact, it pretty plainly goes against everything he says in his letter? perhaps this is supposed to be part of the irony and meant to exemplify a character flaw but that’s not the vibe im getting from the show atm.
hmm... i really like the dragon prince, but i feel like there needs to be a few more layers of polish for it to be a show i’d really enjoy wholeheartedly
me every time viren shows his ugly mug on screen:
