Just another original story out of my head. Definitely borrows a lot of scenery and character inspiration from Gone With the Wind but it is an original work.

If he's half naked, and it's Jon, you can't see his belly button cause he's wearing those pants (or towels) so high they're nearly under his armpits. If it's a character, you can see his belly button and almost anything else cause he wears those pants/underwear so low it's almost indecent 😏

The nation once considered the United States has been plunged into a neverending conflict between territories claimed by divided factions in the land. Jax leads a squad in the Republic Federation and is assigned a defector from an allied faction. As a lifelong soldier, Jax is well versed in warfare, but knows very little about the softer relationships of life. Why do I love his eye flinch to something at the very end?

Okay, I didn't think of Shane when I was making that Julian gifset, but you're right, that nose scrunch is something Shane used to do. (I've definitely seen it in other characters too, but it was Shane that did that twisted twitch of his brow more often.) That's how good Jon is that I never look at a new character and see Shane or any of his other roles. We’ve already talked about this a million times, but I love how much work he puts into each of his characters, how he comes up with all their mannerisms, the way they talk, sit and walk... Even when he’s basically playing similar roles, I could never look at any of them and say that looks like Shane, or that’s Frank, or that’s whatever. Obviously that’s what actors do, but not all of them do. I’d love to see him in more roles like Julian, he did an amazing work despite the show being kind of a flop. He always stands out. That first scene alone when he’s being interrogated is just one of his best scenes in his entire career imo.

Hahaha, you can send those kinda statements any time you want, cause I can only agree with you 1000%. Going from playing Shane who slowly goes crazy, to someone as soft and kind as Julian takes talent. We've said it before, but Jon has sooo much potential. He can play anything and he will always give his absolute best for even the smallest role. That's something I really love about him, how dedicated and passionate he is about what he does. That scene you're talking about just broke my heart. It was fantastic, and I don't remember him ever playing someone as helpless and desperate as Julian. He's been desperate as Frank when he dreams again and again about his family dying, but it wasn't the same kind of intensity. The nuances he uses to adapt to each new character is incredible. But at the same time, as much as I'll never be able to mistake one role for another thanks to his acting, I also love getting little glimpses of other characters in his different roles. You can tell that some are his own mannerisms peeking through and that's fun. The habit he has to push up his nose with his knuckles like in that GIF. That's such a Jon thing to do, but then you have the nose scrunch and there's Shane showing up for a nano second. One thing's for sure, I'm looking forward to seeing him moving around as Frank again 😍

These are great observations! I would only add that he does it real life too and I love how his mannerisms translate to his onscreen performances. He really inhabits his roles in a deep, personal way - imo true “method” acting being able to pick it up and put it down when it needs to be.

Passing Ships

A single chapter story I wrote yesterday afternoon about crushing on someone you’ll never have and/or who doesn’t know you are crushing on them. Esp in the context of coworkers. Don’t know if I’ll expand it or not. Doubtful, but we’ll see.

For as much as I write you’d think I’d “sell” the story better than that, but it’s early, and I left my thinking cap in the other room.

How It Should Have Gone

There! I fixed the fucking thing! It's now up on A03 if you want to read it. Striving to make it 1000% less cringy!

In this reimagined version of the film, eighteen-year-old Sarah Jo is a caretaker for Heather and Josh's son, Zach. She lives with a religiously strict mother whose overprotective parenting has left Sarah Jo very naïve to many experiences in the world. Her sexual awakening with Josh grows her in unexpected ways and leads her down a very different path in life.

The title says it all and when I started writing this it was a place filler, but I didn't bother changing it because we all know that film should've been very different than it turned out. In my version Sarah Jo has been made younger (18) and is overprotected by her mother to account for the ridiculous level of naïvety her character exhibits in the film. It makes her much more plausible in the story (although I still didn't make her as idiotic as she was in the film). She also deals with self-esteem issues, body image issues, and an almost timid, crippling lack of confidence, all of which I feel helps contribute to her lack of awareness and her ultimately deep desire for connection to someone she mistook for being loved by. Ultimately, my hope is that it is a LOT less cringy!

The Specter

On my blog and on AO3

Travel to the past has just been revealed and it has opened opportunities to an entirely new experience without boundaries. All of society is clambering to visit other timeframes. Caspar and his friends make the past their playground to indulge in violent and hedonistic delights without fear of repercussion, since events revert to their preexisting form once the traveler leaves. That is, until Caspar accidentally discovers that some things can be changed, and some relationships of impact have residual effects when he falls in love with a woman in the past. When his contemporary partner finds out she reacts with a vengeance altering his and their friend's lives irreparably, thus twisting Caspar into a dark creature filled with a singular goal: revenge.

While this is an origin story it is a prequel to the first story in this series, Mending Time. Ideas and introductions of scenes from the first story are retold here but are truncated in this version. One will miss a lot of what is happening contextually and the definitions of created terms, ideas, and structures unless they read the other story first.
