Transformers Prime: College AU! [REDO]
I’m giving the main [human] team an aged-up redesign! I still very much want to make time to expand on their personalities, backstories, and relationships with each other and Team Prime. 👀 😭
But for the most part, they are all tired af college students that got caught up in the Autobot-Decepticon conflict, with Vince and Sierra joining the action. Their last names basically belong to their VA’s. LOL
*I wanted to give ALL the characters better range in terms of their field of study. It could tie in very neatly with their affiliation with Team Prime and/or just my personal interpretation of what their character is like/could be.* 🥺👉👈

Clover Will Be Revived With the Staff of Creation
So as you are all no doubt aware I (and half the world) have not been taking Clover’s death well. Out of that grief and desperation to have him back my mind concocted a theory (I’d only briefly considered it a possibility after last week’s episode, but with added context from Episode 13 I think there’s a reasonably solid case to be made). So as per the post title, my theory is that Qrow will use the Staff of Creation to bring Clover back to life.
“Can the Staff even do that?”, I hear you ask. Contrary to what some might believe the Staff being purely an energy source is likely not all it can do. I believe the God of Darkness already indirectly told us what the Staff is capable of back in Volume 6.
If the Staff really is capable of reviving the dead I’m sure it won’t be without it’s own drawbacks, much like the Lamp. But that’s not important right now. What is important is establishing why I think Clover will be revived in the first place.

Part 2: Ironwood, Oz and Penny
The Cost of Revival And James’ Redemption
As the God of Light alludes to back in V6, creation is not as simple as bringing the dead back to life. Or at least it’s not meant to be.
So for the Staff, I had the oh-so-original idea that in order for it to work it would need something of equal value sacrificed. In this case, another human life, obviously. And while I think the grief stricken Qrow wouldn’t hesitate to offer his life in exchange for Clover’s, James, who is in desperate need of redeeming, would take the choice out of his hands. Learning that his own stupid order to have RWBY and co. captured is the reason his right hand man was slaughtered might be the the push he needs to realize that Salem won before she ever arrived at Atlas by creating conflict between allies.
Twice in the volume Clover mentioned that he trusts James with his life. If the crew wants to show that their theme of trust isn’t as black and white as “trusting Ironwood bad, trusting RWBY good” then this would be the perfect way to show that. Have Clover’s trust in Ironwood be rewarded by way of James sacrificing himself to bring back the man he inadvertently got killed. In the event this is what happens, we even have two lines that would serve as foreshadowing for it.
Clover says he had to take the fall, but Qrow corrects him by saying James will be the one to take the fall. Clover won’t die for James’ mistake, James will.
Qrow and Oz’s Reconciliation
Back in V6, we had Qrow and Oz’s falling out when Qrow found out Oz had been lying to him for half his life.
(Sidenote: Interestingly, Qrow was talking here about how no one wanted him because he was cursed. You know who never cared that Qrow’s semblance was misfortune?)
Now that Oz’s consciousness has reawakened within Oscar we finally have an opportunity for these two to talk and reconcile.
But trust shattered that badly is not easily restored. What better way to reestablish that trust than by helping Qrow get his best friend (future husband) back? And we know for a fact that Oz knows what each relic can do.
And Clover’s death had a profound effect on Qrow that Oz is bound to pick up on and ask about once they meet back up in V8.
So assuming the Staff can resurrect the dead, I don’t see why Oz wouldn’t help Qrow use it to bring Clover back. It’s the least he can do.
Additionally, during Oz’s monologue in Episode 13, when he’s talking about the fear of growing close to someone and the subsequent fear of loss, we get shots of Qrow. Qrow already lost Summer to death, and Raven and James to betrayal. A pep talk isn’t going to cheer Qrow up after losing another person he cares about. At this point his fear that those who get close to him die or end up leaving has been validated too many times. If Oz doesn’t help him break that cycle with the power of the staff, I don’t think I’d buy Qrow’s recovery and healing. Assuming the writers care to have him recover.
Penny
As I established in Part 1, Clover’s death paralleled Penny’s in multiple ways. If this theory holds true, they’ll be further connected in two other ways as well. For starters the Staff’s vault can only be unlocked by the winter maiden, who is now Penny.
The character whose death Clover’s parallels would have to play a significant role in his revival (I’d think that’d be poetic if Clover dying in the first place wasn’t a slap in the face). But also, this explains something that always bugged me about Episode 5. Why were Qrow, Clover, Penny and Ruby all chosen to defend a single transport? Surely Qrow and Clover are already overkill for the job, why have Penny of all people tag along on the mission alongside Ruby? To further draw a connection between the two deaths. As you saw in Part 1, Ruby and Qrow mourned Penny and Clover respectively. What seemed like an odd choice from a meta perspective suddenly makes more sense if this is the intended route they plan to take for Qrow and Clover.
(-rips my hair out as I realize the framing of this puts the resurectees on the left and the mourning scythe wielders on the right-)
It’s important to remember that this is the first time the story for two Volumes were being worked on at the same time. So connections that would otherwise seem unlikely deserve a second look.
I actually have several more points to get through, but I guess I’ll save those for a Part 3 and maybe 4.
Part 3: Tyrian, Qrow and Clover’s Pin
Tyrian, Fair Game’s Adam
@astraguardian already made an excellent post detailing all the parallels between fair game and other romantic couples/flirting which you can find here. To summarize the parts relevant for this section though, in the short amount of time Tyrian interacted with Qrow and Clover jointly he’s already paralleled Adam’s opposition to bumbleby three times.
Worth noting is that Qrow/Blake and Clover/Yang consistently occupy the same spot in these parallels. A fact that becomes all the more cemented when you consider that Adam’s main target was always Blake and Tyrian’s unfinished business was with Qrow. On top of that, both Blake and Qrow received injuries in their abdomen from their assailants.
Lastly, as is also mentioned in astraguardian’s post, Qrow and Blake were both wary of growing close to others, fearing that something bad would happen to them eventually (Blake’s connection to the White Fang catching up with her, Qrow’s semblance causing them harm). Blake faced her fear, reunited with a recovered Yang and defeated Adam; it follows that to complete the parallels Clover needs to come back and he and Qrow need to face off against Tyrian one final time together, putting an end to him once and for all.
Qrow’s Journey
More people than I can count have said it already, but killing off the first friend Qrow’s made in who knows how long is an absurdly cruel decision by the writing team, especially considering no other Ace Op met the same fate. Qrow has nothing left to learn from grief. This is a man whose entire life has been defined by not being wanted and fearing for the well being of the few loved ones who do want him around. He already lost Summer, he lost his sister (betrayal), he lost Oz (betrayal) and he lost Ironwood (betrayal). And now he lost Clover too. At this point it feels like the writers have it out for him. That’s why a small part of me has hope that the writers aren’t maniacally evil enough to not allow Qrow a win next Volume.
I already mentioned this in part 2, but I cannot buy Qrow coming back from this unless Clover is revived. He’s been proven right too many times, too many important people in his life have died or abandoned him. I think the only compelling direction they could take him in now is to have him be responsible for achieving his own happiness. Have Oz tell him about the Staff, have Qrow work towards that miracle, have him be proactive since he’s been passive/reactive for 2 Volumes now.
Clover’s Pin
Why does Qrow have this?
I understand it meant a lot to Clover and Qrow would want to hang onto it because of that alone but… what’s he going to do with it? He’s not going to wear it, there’s no way he’d feel worthy of it. He probably believes he’s the reason Clover’s dead right now (he isn’t exactly wrong). Is he just going to keep it in his pocket?
How about return it?
I really don’t see any other reason Qrow would keep this on him from a writing perspective. If he doesn’t get the chance to return it via Clover’s revival then he’d bust it out once in a while for cheap angst at best and have it never be brought up again at worst.
Part 4: Rebuttals, Reasons and Symbolism
I’ll start by clarifying a few points I see thrown against this theory.
But the God of Light Said!
A certain websites favorite argument against the Staff being able to resurrect the dead is that the god of light told his brother that bringing Ozma back wasn’t creation and that it goes against the lesson he was trying to teach Salem; that is “you need to learn to accept death.” A few things to consider:
- That lesson was meant for Salem.
- The balance the god of light mentioned might not even be in effect with him and his brother gone from the world.
- As I pointed out in part 2, there could be restrictions/costs on the Staff that would allow for it to resurrect the dead in a way the god of light would agree with.
- The knowledge the Lamp is capable of providing is on par with what the gods know. The Lamp can’t see into the future and neither can the gods, if they could there would be no need to test humanity since they’d already know if they ended up being worthy or not. If the full capabilities of the gods are stored in the relics, just with restrictions, then it’s not impossible the staff can resurrect the dead like the god of darkness did for Ozma.
- Despite his initial unwillingness to resurrect Ozma the god of light pretty much ended up resurrecting him anyway. The argument that “well he has to use others bodies so it’s not actual resurrection” is pretty weak when you consider how Oz has been repeatedly stated to end up pretty much absorbing the hosts consciousness. He takes over enough that he and Salem were comfortable enough to have 4 kids using a body that wasn’t his own so.~ What I’m getting at is that it isn’t as black and white as “absolutely no resurrection allowed.”
- PS: Lindsay said the Staff revives people so…
The Staff is Actually Just a Power Source/The Staff Can Only Be Used For One Purpose At a Time
These are both really dumb so I’ll keep this brief.
- There’s no way in hell the Staff’s actual ability is to be used as a power source. Using it as a power source was Oz’s idea, that alone implies without a shadow of a doubt that its intended use is not as a power source. Even disregarding that, the idea that one relic can answer any question in the universe and the other is a glorified battery is ridiculous.
- The Staff being used for one purpose at a time was in reference to using it as a power source for Atlas/Amity. There’s only one staff, so obviously only one giant structure can be held up at a time. We have no idea what restrictions the Staff has when being used for it’s intended purpose yet.
Now lets get back on track.
Bumbleby Parallels Addendum
I’d forgotten the waitress isn’t the only person Clover was paralleling in this instance. This further cements the parallels between Clover/Yang and Qrow/Blake that I pointed out in Part 3. Just add it onto the pile of reasons I find it hard to believe Fair Game was unintentional.
Following a Trend
Nothing too substantive here, just something I noticed.
Yang, Qrow’s niece, was the one to claim the Relic of Knowledge back in Volume 5.
And Ruby, also Qrow’s niece, was the one who used it later in Volume 6.
Wouldn’t be too far-fetched for their uncle to both claim and use the Staff of Creation if you ask me.
Someone Had To Die
We know there’s no way the main characters aren’t going to end up using all of the relics at least once. So assuming the Staff’s ability was always meant to allow resurrection, there would need to be someone in need of resurrecting for the crew to show it off in the show. (No, I don’t believe Pyrrha has a shot given the amount of evidence in favor of Clover and Pyrrha’s VA’s message after Volume 3)
Sure they could have temporarily killed off a fan favorite who isn’t too important but also not too unimportant to the story; Jaune, Winter and Qrow come to mind. But why risk losing an established character’s fanbase for an entire year with some possibly not returning for V8 despite the resurrection? No, they needed a new character, someone they could endear the audience to just enough for them to miss them if they were gone, but not enough that they would lose a large part of their fanbase if they were killed.
Of course, we all know that isn’t how things turned out. CRWBY somehow underestimated how popular Clover and Fair Game would become despite all evidence to the contrary. But I have plenty of posts on that subject and this is specifically about Clover being revived so I’ll keep things here. Miles, Kerry, if you’re reading this, I still wan’t to know why you included the waitress parallel if they weren’t originally meant to be romantic.
The Sunrise
So for a while now I thought it weird that CRWBY would choose to have Clover’s death take place during the sunrise. Sunrises, dawn, are usually associated with positive outcomes. Why not have him pass away while it’s still night time, it would’ve been much more fitting. Well either CRWBY sucks at symbolism (which wouldn’t surprise me at this point) or they’re actually pretty damn good at it.
The scene makes it a point to have both Clover and Qrow look at the sunrise shortly before he passes away, a symbol of rebirth and resurrection. The shot of Qrow crying right after even has the sun fully out by then. This is so on the nose in retrospect that if it wasn’t intentional I’d be shocked.
Thanks for sticking around to see this theory through to the end! This’ll likely be the last update so I’m glad I got to end it on that sunrise note, seems rather poetic. Of course, if I have anything to add later on I will but for now let’s all hope this giant stack of “coincidences” was actually a carefully crafted pattern. We’ll know for sure in 9 months.

( ・ω・)☞ It is now Day 7 of Fair Game Week.
As it is a Free Day, I present to you a cover of Bad Luck Charm in my style, because I wanted to do a cover of my favourite song from the RWBY soundtrack for who knows how long, and the wip I had was screaming for love and attention. So I finally finished it a few weeks ago, then started waiting for this day like a child waiting for Christmas haha (╥﹏╥)
This was truly amazing to work on, from the prod to voice recording, and I'd love to do more covers of RWBY songs in the future.
Sending all my love to the Williams, you guys make masterpieces ᕙ(͡°‿ ͡°)ᕗ ❤️
Oh ! And here's the background illustration:
So I was fondly looking at Clover's lovely face as presented to me by the twitter Clover bot, and right as I passed the cut of him from Ch. 3 in the Geist battle, it hit me:
They cut Clover weird shape during the action scene that always bothered me for some reason. It just wasn't very clean, the camera was zoomed in almost uncomfortably close on their faces, etc etc. Instead of doing simple horizontal or diagonal cuts like the following, from Ch. 1 and a few moments earlier in Ch. 3—
—they cut him into some weird nonsense like this:
And it was because he's meant to look like the Staff of Creation.
THANK YOU for taking the time to search out all the artists whose pieces you used in "For Him" and tagged all of them accordingly! It's not easy finding video editors who give proper credit where it's due when they make AMVs using other people's artwork. I think you deserve some appreciation for that
WHY ARE YOU ALL SO NICE??? ;___;
Thank you!~
OMFG [For Him] was SO... HEARTWARMING??? It gave off such a sweet and adorable vibe compared to [Dangerously], it's insane! Have you ever thought of collaborating with other video editors? Or artists?
Thank you, anon! 😊
Tbh, it literally felt like just a slide show of art pieces clumped together... but the the major reason I love it just a tad bit more than [Dangerously] is BECAUSE of the amazing content writers/artists deliver to the public back and forth. I’ve got more stuff to play around with.~
I’ve never done a collaboration before because I’m terrible at pushing out multiple works in a short span of time... and because I’m not as active as I’d like to be until recently (?), but I am open to it! 👀
For Him || MEP Fair Game Week 2020 - Day 7: AU/Free Day (X)(XXX)
I don't mean to pressure you or anything, but do you plan on making any more video edits for our lovely FairGame pair for the remainder of the week? I've got lots of fanfiction and artwork to feast off of and last for hours on end, but I feel like there aren't enough "video edits" for them?
I do have one more in the works and it’s for the AU/Free Day! The last day of the FGW2020! 😁
It’s meant to be more lighthearted and playful compared to [Dangerously], so it’s definitely a nice change of pace from the Hurt/Comfort topic.~
I DO want to make more outside of FGW2020, but it’s just a little difficult given the lack of canon content we have for our bois (at the moment... because I am still very well clinging on to the SoC theory and Clover’s potential resurrection. 🙏)
For me, I prefer to use a combination of various different scenes rather than recycle the same ones over and over again. Of course, I can be creative and still be able to put something together if I wanted to, but that’s just my personal stance on video editing for FG right now. ☺️
I might be overanalyzing this, but when you made [Dangerously] did you specifically choose to edit the lighting and the fading-to-black parts so it matched with the atmosphere of each scene and the song lyrics? This is just me being curious, but I find it speaks volumes even for a simple edit! :)
OOF. Anon, you’ve got a good eye! 👀
Yes! I DID intend to make certain parts colored vs. non-colored to match up with each scene and lyrics! (And to avoid showing V7E12 in full color for obvious reasons.)
The “fade-to-black” was just me hoping it would give off a melancholic vibe through each transition. 🙏
I want to thank you so much for including a minor warning in your short video for FGW2020. I know this might seem menial and even though you did use any of the "worst parts" of E12, I still thought you were being very considerate to those who found it traumatizing and would want to avoid anything remotely related to that episode. Thank you again and Happy FGW!~
Oh, absolutely!~
I know I chose to participate in one of the days where the topic could circulate anywhere between angst or softness - and I chose to go with some angst using clips from V7 - but E12 caused many people (myself included) lots of emotional pain and I wanted to mitigate that as much as possible while still being able to contribute to FGW.
Thanks for the shout out though, anon! I really appreciate it! ^-^
Fair Game Week 2020 - Day 5: Hurt/Comfort (X)

FAIR GAME WEEK IS (TECHNICALLY) UNDER WAY!
A few things:
- I suggest posting any Day 1 art once we’re well into Monday, to ensure any notes count towards this weeks Fandometrics score.
- Our goal is to reach #1 on Fandometrics and to that end I highly suggest everyone reblog (and properly tag again) past fair game art in addition to all the new content that’s about to come out.
- Remember to tag your Week art as both “fairgameweek2020″ AND “fair game”, Fandometrics will be gauging the latter.
- Highly suggest posting any new content on Twitter too, use “#fairgameweek2020″ there as well.
- Any NSFW posted is not affiliated with the Week proper, regardless of whether or not it’s tagged as such.
Now let’s seize that #1 spot!
Listen up Fair Gamers!
While the pain caused by the events in episode 12 is still fresh for many of us, it’s time to bring some positivity back into the Fair Game fandom. With that in mind, all fans of Qrow x Clover are invited to participate in the upcoming Fair Game Week 2020! Taking place March 16-March 22, each day will have two themes/prompts. Feel free to choose between the two or do something for both! Any and all SFW work is welcome: fiction, visual art, head-canons, playlists, edits, or anything else you can come up with. The tag for the event is “fairgameweek2020″. The goal here is to show Qrow and Clover all the love they deserve and hopefully facilitate some community-wide healing in the process. Can’t wait to see what you all come up with!
Credit to @qrowebi for the gorgeous promo pic and @skybird13 for the write up cuz they’re much better with words than I
