One of my favorite really minor visual storytelling things ever is from Haruhi Suzumiya.

In one episode during a crazy scifi scenario Kyon, the main character, tells Haruhi she looks good with her hair in a ponytail. Haruhi believes that entire scenario was a dream even though it wasn’t.

Later in the series Kyon and Haruhi get mad at each other, then Haruhi hangs out in the clubroom by herself and Kyon runs over to apologize, once he arrived you can very briefly see Haruhi trying to tie her hair in a ponytail before she’s shocked by Kyon’s arrival.

SOO GOOD SO CUTE SO GOOD.
