i fear certain progressive people are a little too comfortable with making fun of religion when it's clear they want to make fun of the people practicing the religion by blatantly lying and twisting the commandments that originally don't include the violence and oppression they disapprove of. and i get that, i GUESS, but i don't think you have to act like every religious person ever doesn't know what they're believing in, especially when atheism is in itself a set of beliefs - just one that doesn't include any concept of a god. of course you can decide you DON'T believe in an omnipotent being however deep or un-deeply you think about it, but who the hell are you to decide that is the objective truth that you can mock other people for not believing in? because doing so would make you the exact same as the religious people you don't like. you're both forcing your set of beliefs onto people for simply choosing to live their lives differently.
