Nash and Alisa candid pics
These are pictures that their biggest fans Gray, Jamie, and Xander have taken. They act like they’re gross but their boys love them together
Eve's childhood headcanons
• she used to cry out loud so someone would hear her and come to comfort her but no one ever did so after a while she learned to cry silently under her blanket.
• whenever her, mellie and eli fell asleep in the car, her mom carried mellie, her dad carried eli and they woke her up to walk by herself and even tho she knew this would happen she still kept pretending to be asleep everytime so that maybe one day they carry her too.
• almost all of her clothes were mellie and eli's old clothes unless she bought smth for herself but that rarely happened cuz she saved all her money for moving out.
• her mom used to cook her fav meal once a year for her birthday but that was always the most awkward dinner in the whole year cuz it was a reminder of the fact that her mom had cheated on her dad.
• when she was a little kid and had nightmares and trouble sleeping, her parents never let her sleep with them so she used to wait for them to fall asleep then she went to their room with her blanket and slept on the floor and woke up to them yelling at her.
• she used to spend so many hours making a craft or writing a letter for her parents especially her mom and as soon as she went to give the gifts to them they somehow took out their anger on her and made her regret the decision so she had a whole drawer full of letters she never gave them.
• she used to feel really guilty for being ungrateful or having harsh thoughts about her family but at a certain age she couldn't feel anything but rage and hatred towards them and couldn't even feel guilty about it anymore.
• she craved a good sibling bond with mellie and eli as much as she craved a good relationship with her parents.
• she shared some secrets with mellie and eli a few times as a kid to feel like a part of their sibling bond but ended up overhearing them making fun of her.
Nash’s Lee Lee ❤️
Pictures Nash took of a teen Alisa. He’s so in love with her 😍
Alisa and her Mama
These are the pictures I imagine Tobias placed in her bedroom for her. Most normal shots with 2 in dressed up clothes and one of just her Mama (one at a charity ball and the other on boat during a summer yacht party Skye put together)… the more I think about my wip the more I loveee Mama Ortega!!
Alisa and Nash hcs cont.
I’m back with more hcs!! I love these two so much!
Alisa totally got him his first cowboy hat right before his first rodeo at 16 & it’s the one he wears all the time
He also got her a few hats and she absolutely loves them
Kissing behind a cowboy hat? Definitely happened and often bc the brothers were always watching
Their favorite date nights are ones spent doing something normal together. Movie nights on the couch, slow dancing in the rain, picnics, eating out at some small hole in the wall restaurant where the old couple that runs just adores them, babysitting the brothers, road trips with no destination
Alisa’s Lawyer style started in high school when she switched to Country Day as a way to feel close to her Mama and as her armor from her Papa’s growing expectations. When she was wearing them she felt steady and confident
But outside of school especially when she was with the Hawthornes, her style was casual and cute. She didn’t care about brands or if it was secondhand. If she likes it, she’ll wear it.
She basically owns half of Nash’s shirts and is the reason he always needs more. He doesn’t care bc she looks GOOD in them
Alisa and Nash wrote notes, love letters, and silly things all over the walls in the secret passageway between their rooms in glow in the dark ink so they can always read it at night
Nash never raises his voice at Alisa. Her Papa did that too many times when Alisa didn’t do something to his standards (something Nash knew all too well) and Nash seen the way she flinched. Nash will never be the reason she flinches
Nash came fully into her world outside of his home too. Intimately familiar with her own home and stays the night with her when her Papa is gone. She hates being alone in an empty house.
He knows her friends and they go on double dates with her only girl friend Edith and her boyfriend (every other girl just wants access to the boys)
They didn’t need too, but they got summer jobs every year until they graduated doing normal teenage work. One summer it was an ice cream shop, the next a waterpark, and for the last two summers Nash worked at a local car repair shop and Alisa worked across the street at a small thrift store. They were on the middle/lower side of town where everything felt slower and more meaningful because the people truly cherished everything they had
They had every lunch break together at their jobs. They tried every flavor of ice cream the shop had and definitely fed each other the ones they liked. Total babies in love!!
The last two summers when they parted ways on the sidewalk, Nash covered her face in kisses. She laughed loudly and always said “I love you, I love you, I love you.” Rarely did she say it just once to this boy.
Totally glanced at each other across the street and grinned huge all through their shifts
Her go to scent of anything is vanilla and Nash loves it
Late at night sometimes, they’ll park in front of her old house she lived in before her Mama died and talk about how they’ll buy it one day on their own and make their own happy family there
Alisa is a 5”2 little hottie and Nash is a foot taller than her so they got that adorable height difference thing. And yes, he most certainly plays keep away from her
Alisa has chronic pain in her feet and ankles which most people don’t know about because shes good at hiding it when in Lawyer mode
But Nash notices and is always quick to make her sit at the slightest shift to her other foot when she tries to relieve some of the pain. He gives her foot rubs and hot baths to relax in
When she’s sick with a fever and body aches, she gets restless when she tries to sleep. The only thing that calms her is someone laying with her and her feeling their weight against her. Nash always slips in bed beside her and pulls her close. She settles almost immediately and snuggles closer in her sleep.
Alisa always tells him how proud she is of him and how thankful she for him especially after a day with Skye. She always knows what he needs to hear
When she interns for her Papa and the old man, Nash always makes sure she doesn’t work too hard. He sits with her at night and when the clock hits 10 he drops whatever he’s doing, scoops her up, and kisses her hair. “Time for bed, Lee Lee.” She only pretends to be annoyed and kisses his neck as he carries her to bed
Alisa sits in the garage and watches Nash fix his car while she reads a book. Nash shirtless and sweaty is one of her favorite views
After graduation they take a road trip just them for the entire summer. They take so many pictures together and she prints and frames them when they get home
Okay I really do want to see Knox and Alisa together. I’ll be skimming the gilded blade just for crumbs! My expectations are low bc it sounds like a bad book but hopefully we’ll get something cute for them. I’ve never read the TGG books (just skimmed) so idk exactly what Knox is like but the fandom seems to ship them so maybe he’s cool
I’m sorry but the Alice and her cult (with you know who as a member for like no reason except a weird shock) was a dumb plot point. I’d sooner have the old man fake his death for kicks than this. It’s just too much for me personally
Alisa and Nash hcs
I have a whole fic idea in my head but I’m debating on if I should write it or not. Hm, maybe I will. But for now here’s some hcs based off my idea. It’s like hcs and some small storytelling I guess lol. All childhood Alisa and some Nash. Sorry for any mistakes. 🙂
Alisa lived in a middle class neighborhood in a 2 bedroom ranch style house before her mom died. This was before her dad got his name on the law firm
They were happy. Papa and Mama danced with each other often to their favorite love songs, Papa played with her no matter how tired he was from work, and their home was filled with so much love that she didn’t mind being an only child.
Her Mama was a beautiful woman and excellent cook. She was a Social Worker that actually cared about the kids she helped. She dressed in conservative business dresses/blouses & skirts, heels, and stockings for work to look professional. But when she came home, the first thing off was the heels, and after fixing Alisa a snack she’d change into comfortable t shirts and shorts. Her clothes were an array of beautiful colors. No black when she was off the clock.
Some of Alisa’s first memories are of her Mama humming around the kitchen after work in her work clothes and stocking clad feet. They stay in her mind and sometimes she can almost see her especially when she’s had a long day herself
Her Mama had a saying: “A beautiful day always starts and ends with a hug and kiss to people you love” and stood by her words everyday with Alisa and her Papa.
Alisa hugged her daycare teacher and classmates everyday because of this which they all returned happily because she was so cute and sweet
Her Mama also placed in her a love for reading. Books filled their home and so many hours were spent reading together
Alisa had a lisp that some kids made fun of her for.
When Alisa was 6, her Papa got a promotion and close to Tobias Hawthorne. She would come over to the house after school on days her Mama had visits to make to her cases
Nash was 5 and wip smart but wasn’t into playing tag or anything like kids she knew loved. He reminded Alisa of a little grown up that seemed really, really sad
The first thing she did after laying eyes on him in the playroom at the Hawthorne house was hug him tightly. “Hi! I’m Alisa and I’m here to play and I’m 6.”
Little Nash was surprised and didn’t hug back that first time. “I’m Nash and I’m 5. I have lots of toys to play with. I’ll share them”
Alisa took a step back and surveyed her many choices. This boy had way more toys than she did. Over in the corner was a brand new looking play kitchen. “Wanna play restaurant? I’m a really good cook just like my Mama. You can be the customer first and I can give you delicious food”
Nash looked over at the kitchen and shrugged. “Sure. I ain’t played with that before though but I play with the one at school”
“Oh. Why not?”
Nash sat down at the kid sized table by the kitchen and waited for her to take his order. “It’s no fun to play restaurant by myself.”
Alisa over to the table. “Your Mama don’t play with you?”
“Nope. Aunt Zara does when she comes over though. But never with my kitchen.” He smiled slightly. “Shes nice.”
“Oh.” And then she changed the subject in such a manner that only kids can. “Welcome to my restaurant. What do you want to eat?”
They played and played for 2 hours until it was time to go. She hugged him again and kissed his cheek this time. Nash hugged her back.
“I’ll ask my Mama and Papa if I can play again tomorrow, okay?”
“Okay.” Nash watched her leave
And she did. Soon, they become best friends and sometimes her Mama even took her to play when she didn’t have to work! She got to play all day until it got dark sometimes.
They learned each other’s favorite things and Nash started calling her Lee Lee one day and never called her Alisa after that. They loved each other fiercely as kids do and quickly won the hearts of the staff. Alisa opened Nash’s small world up and filled it with so much joy. His favorite days was when Lee Lee came to play. And Nash was Alisa’s very best friend in the whole world. He never made fun of her way of talking or asked her to repeat herself. He knew exactly what she was saying.
She didn’t find out until they were teens but those first few years of their friendship, but some days her hugs would be the only ones he’d get that day
Her Mama got sick when she was eight and passed away at the end of fifth grade when she was ten
After that, her Papa couldn’t stand the thought of staying in their home without her Mama that he rented it out and bought a bigger house on the other side of town near work and the Hawthornes
The new house was beautiful and newly built but without a stitch of her Mama in them
That first summer without her Mama was difficult. Papa worked more than ever and Alisa spent most of her time at the Hawthorne house. Which was fine with her because she needed her boys. Especially Nash.
One afternoon in early July, Tobias Hawthorne called her in from the pool to show her something. Nash started to come too. “Stay here, please. You’ll see soon enough.” So he reluctantly hung back.
She followed the Old Man down the vast hallways of his home, her feet leaving a trail of water. They entered the corridor that held her boys’ bedrooms and went around the corner toward Nash’s bedroom at the end of the long hallway.
He didn’t stop at Nash’s bedroom but went to the door across from his. The door that was always locked.
The Old Man pulled a key out of his shirt pocket and held it out to her. “Open it up.”
She did and the door swung wide open and she stepped inside. Alisa didn’t know what she was expecting but it wasn’t this.
Inside was the most magnificent bedroom she’d ever seen. Walls painted her favorite color of pastel blue, a big window with a window seat that begged to be sat on and read a book, and a bathroom that was as elegant as Alisa could want. There was also a little library filled with books from top to bottom. Many of them were her favorites. It was tailor made for Alisa.
But what shocked her the most, and what brought tears flowing down her face, was the dozens of pictures of her and Mama hanging on the walls and nightstand. Papa didn’t have any in the new house.
She looked up at Tobias and wiped her eyes. “What- what is this?”
He smiled. “It was my wife’s art room before my grandsons came along. I kept it closed off because I didn’t want to see the memories. But now, it’s your bedroom, and I filled it with things that bring you happiness because you’re a special little girl.”
She launched herself at him in a fierce hug. He patted her back.
“You always have a home here, Alisa. Always.”
After that, he left her to look around and she ran outside to get Nash. He followed into her new bedroom.
“Wow, Lee Lee. It’s perfect for you.”
“He said I always have a home here.”
Nash grinned a big beautiful smile and grabbed her hand. “Of course you do. Want to see if there’s a secret passage connecting our rooms?”
Alisa smiled. “Totally.” And there was.
he just wants cuddles🥹
Can someone please explain to me why Tobias really gave Avery basically everything in the will? Was there ever an actual reason stated? I haven’t read the books in over a year and have only skimmed the grandest game books so I don’t remember.
I so hope The Inheritance Games show is way better than the books with more detail, better plot, better character development, and in this case different endings because some choices made especially recently sucked (IYKYK). Hopefully the team takes points from The Summer I Turned Pretty because for the most part they did great! Who is everyone’s fancasts for the TIG gang? I want to see!! 🙂
So judging by the spoilers tgb sucks. Which is sad. She needed a really good publishing company, editors, and beta readers because word of mouth is that it’s her worst book yet. Props to her for writing though seriously! But I mean come on. I guess she shoulda stopped at tfg…. But hey thanks for cool characters that everybody will come back to again!
If yall need book recommendations my favorites are The Travis family series by Lisa Kleypas (this imo is an adult non riddle Hawthorne brothers romance set. Sugar Daddy is book 1 and the mmc Gage is so Grayson!!), The Timeless series by Gabrielle Meyer (historical christian fiction where each POV character in a book is born with a birthmark that allows them to live 2 lives in different time periods and on their birthday they have to choose which one to stay in. Seriously EXCELLENT so many things you don’t expect and if you’re not into Christianity please don’t let it stop you from trying the books. They are SO SO good!!), Night Road by Kristin Hannah (my go to when I get upset about Toby Hannah lol), and any book by Sarah Dessen (each is standalone but she puts really cool Easter egg appearances of her other books in each book which I love. My fav author of YA. My favorite is probably The Truth About Forever but all are great!)
I’d forgotten how quick yall are on here with getting a hold of the books before they’re published. I don’t even mind the spoilers but WHAT IN THE WORLD WAS THAT BOMBSHELL?! Of all the people!!! Seriously? And the other bombshell? Like I know it was the end of the series but JLB didn’t have to do that right away but whatever. Man, I’m so tempted to write an alternate fic of the whole series just because some things I wished happened didn’t and it would be cool to see it. Oh she should’ve did a Choose your own adventure! Lol anybody else love those books as kids?
But honestly I do love JLB and admire her for her creative take on the plot over all. The riddles sometimes went over my head but she THOUGHT OF THEM so very awesome. I do like the series and the Hawthornes are cool book boys but in my opinion the series could be even more!! Even though some things won’t end how I want it I’m still happy with the overall story. But I will be sad if Hannah stays dead. She was cool and I’d love for her to be alive. What does everyone want to happen in the last book?
HC- alisa ortega has naturally curly hair but straightens it for work, however she used to wear it natural when she was a teen
I like Libby and I see the potential of her character but she wasn’t around enough to really make an impact on me nor was she given enough growth in my opinion. My opinion was low of her the moment she let Avery live in her car instead of stepping up as a big sister/guardian and kicking him out. I get that she experienced trauma growing up but you either move away from it or stay in it. Hannah and Libby are great examples of this. Hannah tried everything she could to protect Kaylie and had a plan to take her away. She grew up in a horrible family but wasn’t like them. When she had Avery she did whatever she could to make a safe and happy life for her (including not being with Toby 😭). Libby on the other hand didn’t take care of Avery like she should’ve. She loved her but didn’t put her first. And yes, we all should take care of ourselves but when you have a child to care for their safety trumps your desires. And while I 100% believe that her boyfriend was a piece of crap and she’s better off without him, I think she also wanted to be with him because she knew that lifestyle and it was comfortable. Bad but comfortable. She would’ve still been with him if Avery hadn’t gotten the inheritance (and maybe even then if the Hawthorne gang hadn’t stepped in). What would’ve been a way better storyline was if she was trying her hardest to provide for Avery, showing up to Avery’s school things, and doing things/having special traditions that they both loved. You know two sisters that might not have much money but still find joy. THIS Libby I could 100% get behind being Avery’s guardian and making the right decisions for her wellbeing. But canon Libby? Nope. I’m honestly surprised that Nash actually got with her because of her negligence but he has a savior complex which was stated like twice in the first book so 🤷♀️
Now don’t get me wrong. She’s cool in a way. She is nice and stuff but she could’ve been better (gosh I sound like a broken record sorry). Strip away the goth look and her habit of always baking and there wasn’t much else going for her. But to be fair her scenes were limited and JLB didn’t do so great at world building some characters and things. I also didn’t care for the instant/behind the scenes “romance” between her and Nash (and this was BEFORE I shipped Alisa and Nash btw). Coming out of an abusive relationship you don’t jump right into another without healing. You’ll have the same mindset and reactions as before. And Nash sleeping in her bedroom basically after just meeting? Not cool. Real women wouldn’t feel comfortable doing this ESPECIALLY if she comes from an abusive relationship. JLB did a bad job with this one knowing her audience would be teens and young women mostly.
And honestly? IF JLB does pick up the series again set years later I’m hoping she has Libby mature and a great mom but I’m expecting her to eventually be a more “friend” mom and maybe not even married to Nash anymore. Because eventually she’s not going to need saving anymore and they’re going to get stale because they don’t make each other better or grow together. Obviously they’re fiction so they could very well be happily ever after but yeah. I can be the only one that feels this way and that’s ok. Seriously though, I’m so sick of just lackluster YA fiction. Sarah Dessen and Morgan Matson are the only 2 that write great teens imo.
