How would you write tgb? I like how your brain works please never stop thinking 🥹
Awww pookie I love u I promise this brain will never stop 🥹🫶💖
-> I'd return to the original POVs Gigi, Lyra and Rohan, they're the characters readers have already invested in and they still have plenty of unresolved arcs. A final book isn't the place to overload the story with new protagonists.
-> I'd avoid introducing a bunch of new characters, if a new character is absolutely necessary, I'd keep it to ONE and make sure they directly serve the main plot instead of stealing page time from the existing cast.
-> I'd have Avery escape the cult early in the book and make her a major source of information, instead of using her disappearance as the main plot for most of the story, she'd help uncover how the cult operates, who is involved and what they're planning. That gives her a role that fits naturally without making the entire plot revolve around her, especially since her personal character arc and story had already reached its conclusion.
-> I'd completely rework Lyra's father's mystery because I don't think whatever we read was satisfying. A mystery isn't compelling just because the answer is unexpected, it should make readers look back and realize the clues were there all along. Instead of the hell we got, I'd use Lyra's father as the reader's introduction to the cult and what it's truly capable of, we'd learn what he did, why he did it, how the cult manipulated the situation and why they believed they had to destroy his life. His story would establish the cult's methods and show that they don't just target people, they systematically ruin lives through manipulation, blackmail and psychological warfare. That way his mystery wouldn't just exist for the sake of a twist. It would become the foundation of the larger conflict and prove that the cult has been operating in the shadows long before the events of the trilogy as it was supposed to be (like...... This is how the Thomas Thomas mystery should be, not..... I have no words to say).
-> I'd make sure there's a major confrontation between Eve and Toby, their relationship has too much history to be brushed aside and the conflict deserves a real payoff instead of being ignored.
-> As for the ending... Can someone please remind JLB (I love you but....) that she's writing a mystery novel not assassin's creed or avengers assemble kinda of shit because what was that??!!!!
I'd take the finale in a completely different direction, instead of ending with an over the top action sequence, I'd end by showing just how terrifyingly powerful the cult really is, not because they have better players or special but because they understand how power actually works, they have influence, information, connections, leverage, manipulation, fear, secrets and the ability to shape the truth itself, they don't control people through force, they control them by making sure every choice leads exactly where they want it to, I'd also bring back one of the central ideas from the original trilogy, Alisa telling Avery that money equals power. If it was me, my ending would challenge that idea. Money can buy influence but true power is the ability to control information, institutions, public perception and take people's decisions to your own advantage, it's the ability to make someone destroy themselves while believing it was their own choice. The Hawthornes and Avery play a rich people's game, a game of money, puzzles and privilege, the cult plays a game of power. They don't just win, they decide who gets to play, who gets sacrificed, whose story gets believed and whose life gets erased. That's the difference between having money and having power and that's what the finale should have explored.
-> As for the character dynamics, I'd organize them around specific relationships and plotlines instead of constantly mixing everyone together.
Duos
Savannah and Gigi
Avery and Rohan (if you see it you see it)
Gigi and Knox
Toby and Eve
Trios
Lyra, Grayson and Slate
Rohan, Jameson and Eve
Lyra, Knox and Jameson
Groups
Avery, Toby, Eve, Rohan and Jameson
Gigi, Savannah, Knox, Slate and Grayson
Lyra, Odette, Alisa, Nan, Libby and Max (yay girls sleepover 🥹🫶💖🎀)
⚠️This is for anyone who ships or appreciates Alisa and Knox⚠️
A friend of mine has contact with a person who was at Jennifer Lynn Barnes's Texas event.
They asked her if Knox and Alisa get together eventually.
She said that yes, in her mind they end up together but neither of them is the type to make the first move, so it took a long time before anything happened. They are intended as a slow burn, but in the end in her mind they clicked and are endgame.

Random Avery headcanon that I think might have been said before
But she gets name dropped in rap songs and just songs in general yk like how people randomly reference other celebrities
It's so ridiculous when one of the reasons GAs give for wanting them to be together is that they want Gwyn to be happy. Did Gwyn want romance? Was Gwyn interested in Azriel and not getting reciprocation? Why do they act like Gwyn will be miserable if she doesn't end up with Azriel?
Jameson and his fuckass riddles during the trilogy and Alisa knowing the answer to all of them because she babysat him and had to sit through him asking her cryptic riddles everyday

ELAIN AND GWYN AS COTTAGE CORE LESBIANS!!!!!! But every Lesbian cottage needs a trusty animal companion, now originally i thought a cat would be the obvious answer but what if it was a bunny, a cute little snow white bunny that is just the most energetic chaos magnet! Every time this bunny gets set loose in their little(it's actually a very big garden, one of the reasons they loved the cottage so much) garden (closed off so it doesn't run away, obviously) it wreaks havoc, tramples the daisies and tulips then it forces it's way into the carrot patch to continue it's path of demolition, but neither Gwyn nor Elain have the heart to keep it enclosed in an even smaller area, so they still love it no matter the destruction it causes. Bonus if it has a really cute name courtesy of Elain but a really exaggerated violent nickname, courtesy of Gwyn
