On Tuesday The Demon Queen turns one. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DEMON QUEEN!!! I got you a present, it's a commission of Queen Zelda and King Ganondorf's official royal portrait, by the legendary @azulolivart!
It was creating using some of the clothing references I used while I was writing, and it just looking at it feels so much like what my headspace felt like over the course of writing it, which is the best sort of overwhelming feeling imaginable! Here's the little paragraph where it's described by a very distraught Link when it appeared on the front page of the Lucky Clover Gazette:
The black-and-white, smudged image of Zelda gave him a start; a first glimpse of the Princess in the After, blurred and too worn now to make out the expression on her face. She was standing at a slight pivot, maybe in the library, where background fireplace flames lent the shot its light. Dark layers of fabric cascaded from her forearms, evoking the Empress version of the demon he’d fought to the death. Thick fingers slithered around the knot of her folded hands, Ganondorf’s grip powerful enough to pulsate even through the worn, discarded image. He’d been fitted with an impressive crown, though otherwise looked exactly as Link remembered him from the lair beyond the Forgotten Foundation. The hilt of the same Gloom Sword fitted at his side, the Gerudo fabric draping at his hips.
I am so happy and already looking forward to yanking some family photos off the wall and hanging a framed version of this instead.
