Criticism of Big Mouth I disagree with:

I've seen here on reddit that some people don't like how Elijah's asexuality was influenced by his religious views.

The thing is... it really isn't? Like, it feels like the writers bent over backwards to say Elijah's religion and sexuality had nothing to do with each other. He's just a person who happens to be asexual as well as religious.

When Missy says she's ashamed for masturbating cuz Elijah says it's sinful, Elijah says he thinks it's fine and that he doesn't actually think that.

Most of his family, who i believe it's safe to assume would have similar religious views to Elijah, seem to experience sexual attraction and don't have any qualms with taking about it openly (specifically the uncles).

And, like, he actually actively *tries* to experience sexual attraction. He specifically sets out to "turn his attraction on". His religious views haven't lead to him trying to suppress sexuality at all.

Also literally the Jesus in Elijah's head says its all good.

Honestly, it kind of feels like people just think a character can't be religious and asexual at the same time without it being offensive, despite many people who are religious and asexual existing in real life, and that just finds me the wrong way. Main reason I wrote this.

What we’ve gotta understand is that “the modern Internet is abolishing spaces for adults” and “the modern Internet is abolishing space for children” are compatible phenomena. Neither group is being favoured: the modern Internet is abolishing spaces for adults (i.e., because grown-up topics aren’t advertiser friendly) and the modern Internet is abolishing spaces for children (i.e., because online communities which consist principally of people who have no money are hard to sell things to). The Internet that contemporary corporate interests are trying to build isn’t a space for anyone – it’s the digital equivalent of an Ikea showroom.

For people with anxiety about filing taxes, here’s what things that happen when you make a mistake on your tax return:

- it gets corrected

- you get a letter in the mail either asking for some additional information or a letter showing the adjustment

- you pay the amount (there’s options for payment plans too!) or get a refund

Things that do not happen

- you’re “in trouble”

- you are charged with fraud

- you go to jail

I know that most people are probably just joking/exaggerating when they say a mistake on their return means they get thrown in jail but when I worked with the public I always would encounter people who believed that would happen and they would be panicking about it. So I like to put this out there every year because if I can even prevent one person from feeling that way, it’s worth it
