Day 8

LOTS of cool outfits that popped up in my sketch queue today, really wanna take some of these and incorporate them into some fuller character designs. I'm also still loving how they help me push my silhouette and shape language.

I've also started starring the ones I either really like or want to use for a more in-depth study/influence.

Day 7

Back to digital drawing, finally turned down my opacity pressure. Now I have a lot more control over what lines I wanna emphasize and which ones are just for construction. These were done a week into the challenge, and man I already feel a difference. A whole lot looser, poses feel way more natural, and I'm playing a lot more with proportion. Really liking how this challenge is going so far!

Silk Explorations

Meet Silk! She's another monster hunter, but this time she's a big demon lady :33. She matches Vera's passion for hunting with the apathy of a disgruntled 20-something working at a fast food joint. She doesn't need a weapon though, her strength is all she needs to get the job done.

Day 6

Not much to say here, just more drawing in my sketchbook. My fountain pen kept dying on me, so I'm probably just gonna stick with a ball point pen or light marker when I'm in here again.

Day 5

So for today, I decided to get my daily sketching done while I was at work. Started out with a ball point pen, then started playing around with a fountain pen I had in my pencil pouch. I had fun, though looking again I'm having the same issue where my fountain pen just can't sketch very lightly, so some of these are a little messier than I'd like. They're 1 minute gestures though, it's not like they're supposed to be clean.

You may also notice some other loose sketches. Still got some other ideas knockin' around in this ol' noggin of mine

Day 4

Back to the grind! Forgot to mention, but I've been using the website Quickposes for this challenge thus far! Today I started incorporating fully clothed figures into my studies as well, it's been helping me learn more about silhouette and shape language. Some of these sketches are really helping me fire up the creative juices for some character designs and concepts!

Vera Explorations

You didn't think this was just gonna be a figure drawing blog, did you? I'm also workin' on some original projects, and here are some sketches of one of my ocs, Vera! She's a monster hunter working to become the most famous ranger the world has ever known!

Day 3

Here's where I think I started to loosen up a lot more. I feel like my poses are a little bit stronger, and I'm starting to lean a little more into the action and shape language of each pose rather than get super hung up on accurate anatomy.

Day 2

Still going strong, mostly just working on loosening up right now. Something I noticed going back over the older drawings is that my brush opacity was a little high. I wasn't having too much of an issue with it, but it did make some of the poses a little harder to see after a while. Unfortunately this will be a running theme for this first week or so worth of drawings. Woops!

Hi tumblr!!

Day 1/???

You may know me as Hatzapalooza, or just Hatza for short! Recently, I've taken on a challenge to draw 60 one minute gesture poses every single day! The video that poses this challenge (which you can find here) gives a length of six months!!!

I've hit a bit of a rut in both my art style and my consistency, so my big goals here are to loosen up, stay consistent, and most importantly, have fun!

For this first post, here are my 60 from my first day of the challenge! I started about a week ago, and will be uploading my daily progress periodically. I'll try my absolute hardest to stick with it, and keep ahead of the blog. You'll see the others I've drawn soon!
