Finally watched “Strike Back”: (Part 1/2)
- Adrien using Felix’s monocle and discovering anything in his dad’s office? Nah we can’t have that kind of plot advancement from Adrien. Best case scenario he uses it in the first half of season five. (Worst he figures nothing out until the finale).
- Okay, aside from the fact Marinette’s idea to use the horse to retrieve “Adrien” is akuma-influenced (and therefore something she likely would not do otherwise), I am SO DONE with any of the kwami - especially Tikki - acting like the voice of reason, when they’ve been acting like super-powered little children all season. Fuck off. Especially when Tikki sat back and let Plagg and Adrien manipulate Marinette in “Kuro Neko”.
- Bryce clearly has more fun voicing Felix. Don’t blame him, it’s one of the few times he gets to voice someone with any real personality outside of smug insufferable flirt. Also Lila only got like one line in this episode, she’s such a necessary character ain’t she?
- I’m gonna be hearing Froggy’s little song in my sleep. Hopefully no one was in the Ferris wheel, …so much collateral damage to the city in this one.
- God they’re really having this conversation right now? I’m really at the point where I desperately wanna hit mute anytime Adrien talks. Maribug wants the identities secret between them for selfless reasons, she wants to protect him from Shadow Moth incase he akumatized her. Adrichat just wants it so he can pursue his crush on her from both sides of the mask; his actions throughout the show tells me that that is all he wants.
- “We’ll never get akumatized!” Such a cocky, arrogant little bastard… What makes you so sure of that? What the fuck makes you so special?? Even though he doesn’t know he’s been akumatized before twice (and almost a third time) because those timelines got wiped, he knows miraculous holders can get akumatized. Hell, how many times has he been under an akuma’s influence over the past four seasons?!?
- “Maybe because you never talk to me about anything!” FUCK. YOU. She would if you bothered to tell her something was bothering you (WITHOUT using it as an excuse to flirt), hell she asked you point blank in “Rocketear” if something was wrong and you brushed it off!! Don’t put it all on her when you’re not willing to communicate, and have spent the better part of a season stewing about it instead!
- Okay there’s taking risks and then there’s being brainless. The people of Paris leaned hard into the latter under Risk’s influence.
- For reinforcements we get Carapace, Ryukko, Purple Tigress, Vesperia, Polymouse, Rooster Bold, and Minotaurox. Where is my boy Viperion damn it? Then while Rena’s checking out the scene we see Roi Singe/King Monkey?? I’m assuming he was just an animation error.
- Strike Back can copy their powers, but is that only if he touches them while they’ve activated it, or just if he touches them in general? He makes direct contact with Purple Tigress, Vesperia and Polymouse before absorbing their powers, so I assume the former. I reiterate then, where the fuck is Viperion? Second Chance would’ve been useful to warn them about the power copying.
- It’s at this point I realize I’ve only finished two parts out of seven in the playlist I’m watching the episode on….
- Carapace outs Rena, but again to be fair, it was protect her or let her be crushed by a fucking Ferris Wheel. I’ll assume Alya told him where she was hiding out for recon offscreen somewhere.
- Okay so this confirms the Froggy insignias on their necks are visible at all times. How the fuck did NO ONE in this entire city notice!?
- “But I can help…” He says after she tells him to detransform cause his cataclysm is too risky. He then goes to fight Strike Back, gets immediately pinned, activates cataclysm, which Strike Back then immediately absorbs from his hand. Yeah….some fucking help you were. I know he’s still under Risk’s influence but damn he instantly proved Ladybug’s concern to be valid. SB cataclysms an entire building, hope no one was still inside…
- The lucky charm gives her a ticket for the zoo, which is where the akuma object is hidden. It’s dated the day before, even though the object would still be there now. …..So literally the only real reason she takes the risk to grab “Adrien” and go back in time to find and get the object instead of heading straight to the zoo is because the writers purposely had the Lucky Charm have a time stamp it didn’t need on it. Fuck. Off.
This is getting long, so I’m gonna take a break and post the rest of my thoughts in a part 2 when I finish the episode.
