I feel like I want to be both really critical of and really protective of this moment. Because I don’t think the Shitennou storyline worked anywhere near as well as it could have, ultimately it feels like, “Wait, what was the point of that?” for all that I got my Endymion/Shitennou moments of amazingness. It feels like there was no real greater point to things and they didn’t even get to see Mamoru again before they died. But, also, I’m protective of this storyline because, as many faults as it had, it gave me those amazing moments, it gave me more time with the pretty pretty Shitennou, it finally gave me a Sailor Moon story that focused on how they were victims of Metallia, how their fate was an utter tragedy, and how we finally got to see them being mourned. And I am super ready to go to the mat about how these girls are just gutted by this, because they were innocent people, they were friends, they were people they cared about, they were important allies, and they were so close to helping them return them to themselves, when Metallia crashed down and killed them. Of course it’s horrifying and heartbreaking and they’re going to cry about it! They’re girls who care about other people, who have empathy for other people, who are horrified when innocent people are killed for no damned good reason. It’s not a perfect storyline by any means, but it definitely gave me a lot to dig into, it gave me a shitload of feelings, and I’m always going to be protective of it for that. ;__;
