@iriidescente | Starter for Mary
Grace hadn’t been saying much lately, she mostly kept to herself and was on her phone texting friends or browsing websites even when she was spending time with her dad. It wasn’t easy coming to terms with the fact that she was sharing Danno with others, but it was still harder when it came to her little brother who for awhile she thought was her half brother. It didn’t really change much of anything, but there were lies that were told, secrets kept, and a girl growing up in a world that just seemed to be getting more and more complicated. Toss in her family issues and becoming a teenager and it was safe to assume it was a recipe for internal disaster.
Setting her phone down Grace sat by Mary and at first she was silent which only lasted for about three minutes.
“Can we talk?”
Look at my baby all grown up. I am happy with this FC choice for an older Grace.
@hawaiinmonkey
‘ My boyfriend is gonna throw a party at his parent’s house this Friday. You wanna come? ’ That called for trouble because neither her or Grace’s dad would allow them to go to a party, especially not with college boys.
“ Yea! “ Grace should have reconsidered her answer since she knew Danno wouldn’t let her go, not unless this party had adult supervision. By that he would mean him, and that’s the last thing Grace wanted. “ But I don’t think Danno will let me go.”
Grace said it out loud and Mary couldn’t help but smile, although she wasn’t quite sure how she was going to manage a huge family. She hadn’t been around the first time, missed out on getting her first experience as a mother. Therefore, marriage was far from her mind and she wasn’t expecting Danny to ask her at all. For that she was too busy with figuring out how to make it right this time. Grace’s question interrupted the thoughts that clouded her mind. Looking down at her, she smiled much softer this time. “Well, your dad ees making sure we’re going to get a much bigger place.” Was she supposed to break the news to her? To Mary it seemed fine to let her know; Grace was old enough after all.
Moving to Hawaii was the best thing for her family, Grace knew that now. Danny gained friends and after many efforts at dating after her mom got re-married, Danno seemed to finally find someone he got along with rather well. Grace tried often to not get too attached to her dad’s girlfriends despite how nice or how much fun they were, but Mary was the exception. Not only was she Danny’s girlfriend, but she was also Cassandra’s mom. And they would soon be sharing a sibling between them. “ Really ? “ Grace seemed surprised that Danny was going to get a bigger place but the thought certainly excited her. “ Awesome! “ Though she still hoped that her and Cass’ rooms would be close to one another.
I should redo Grace’s theme...and make icons from the last episode of her. *Nods* Yes.

Grace seemed to be the only exception. Mostly because Cassandra didn’t see a reason to get her involved. But now here she was TRYING to talk and maybe get through to her. Leaning back against the headboard, Cassie hesitated to take a cookie and instead of taking a bite, she would hold it in her hands, picking out the chocolate chips which put in her mouth, chewing listlessly. “When you went to zat party?” She said, briefly looking up to Grace as she then took a bite of the cookie. Cassandra knew and remembered what had happened that day and how it had disappointed Danny when Grace lied to be at party with her friends. Though Cassandra didn’t know Grace’s reasoning as to why she’d done it exactly, she could see what Grace was driving at.
“Yeah.” Grace looked to Cass as she picked at the cookie. In exchange, Grace was picking off the nail polish off her fingers that was already starting to come off. “Danno was really angry with me, but I was really angry with my mom.” She knew that Cass probably already knew about Charlie and the lies that were placed down when he was born, even before he was born. While Rachel’s reasoning was with good intentions she didn’t consider what that would do to a girl Grace’s age. Not only the lie, but suddenly having to share Danno with Charlie and how fast Danno just took right to it. It hurt Grace. Sharing her dad with Cassie was different , there were no lies that were stringing them together and it was an easy transition into having her around. “ We were almost a family again. I was excited. I’d get to see Danno every day, I’d get a baby brother...But then mom was back with Stan, and Charlie was just my half brother, and things went back to how they were and I accepted that. “ Grace had never spoken about this with anyone - not even her own parents of how she felt about all of this. It wasn’t easy to talk about because they seemed so caught up in their own adult problems. “ Charlie gets sick, find out we could have been a happy family but mom lied. I get her reason, I guess...Doesn’t make up for the fact that she lied for so long. Doesn’t make up for the fact that didn’t want Charlie to lose a father if something happened to Danno....Not sure how I’m supposed to take that.” A faint chuckle came from Grace as she shifted to sit right next to Cass, bringing her knees up to hug them. “ It hurts. The lies, and the sharing. So you want to hurt them just as much. You kind of want them to know how it feels. But it doesn’t really do anything except make you feel worse. At least, it did for me...”
Uncle Steve and Grace
Matt can play the guitar which he learned because he’s a huge fan of Ricky Nelson and kind of gets his voice down. So imagine Matty singing this to little Grace.
Her brows rose in mild surprise. Not that she already knew how much her father liked her, Mary just was pretending like she didn’t. “’E does?” she asked, scrambling the eggs.
She had to be playing, right? Or was Danno again hiding his feelings because that seemed to be his thing to do? The look on her face said what Grace really wanted to on the matter. “ I think it’s pretty obvious. “
Although Mary considered to have another child, as she always had the wish of having a large family, this wasn’t quite how she had expected it to happen ( but that’s what happens when there’s barely protection used ). Now that she was a couple of months in, she was excited as the first time and Danny was also happy about the news. And Cassandra? Apart from that she still was warming up around her mother, they had her blessing. Mary knew she couldn’t make up for the lost time with her daughter, but with this baby she had a chance to make it right. Looking up from cutting peppers, Mary smiled at Grace who hoped for a girl. “Zat would be great, wouldn’t eet? We need more women power around ze ‘ouse.” Whatever it would be, it really didn’t matter to her, however.
“ Danno would freak out.” Grace smirked just thinking about that. Having yet another daughter in his life, he already seemed stress with Grace hitting her teenage years and Cass already being there . “ Our family is getting huge. “ Grace had one when she was back in Jersey with her aunts and uncle from her dad’s side. Her mom’s family was smaller in comparison, but nothing compares to the family she now has! A sister, a brother, another sibling on the way, her mom, her uncles, her aunt Kono, and Mary. She had to wonder if her dad was going to remarry at this point... “ Where are you going to put the baby?”
✿ @impudenter
Grace would argue that she didn’t need a sitter at her age, but she has learned that arguing with Danno never ends in her favor. As he was called away to help Mary with an emergency of sorts, he left the most unlikely in charge. Matt. This was nothing new, especially back in the days of Jersey. She spent time with Matt but he always seemed to be supervised by someone. This time he would be doing this all on his own. The look of amusement across Grace’s face could not be mistaken. “You’re scared.” she noted playfully trying to read the expression on Matt’s face as he agreed to this favor from Danny. “ It’ll be fun!”
That was tempting, wasn’t it? “O-kay.”
The perks and falls of having a little brother. Easily bribed, and yet needing to bribe him so she wouldn’t get in trouble. “ Then it’s a done deal. Shake on it.”
✿ @lamereperdue
She shouldn’t have been surprised when Danny and Mary announced that they were having a baby together, but she was like any kid would be. She never imagined she’d end up with a large family. When Charlie came along there was some jealousy and conflict when he went from half brother to full brother. When Cass came into the fold Grace wasn’t as jealous as one might have thought her to be - after all she was gaining an older sister so for Grace that was exciting! Now, Danny and Mary were having a baby and while Grace was happy that the family was growing she still had some questions. Maybe a lot of questions. “ I hope it’s a girl.” Grace told Mary as they stood in the kitchen preparing dinner together. “ Outnumber the boys. “ Though even if she has a little half-brother, at least this time she doesn’t have to worry about being lied to about it (no matter the gender)

“You know what? Since I got something to do on the way anyway, I’m gonna drive to his office. Calling him would only ruin the surprise, wouldn’t it? And I’ll get him to get pizza, even if I have to pay for it. And then we gonna spend the evening like we did back in Jersey on the weekends, sounds good?” She was a smart kid, old enough to see when something was off. Matthew couldn’t pull the wool over her eyes, but he could distract her.
“ Is that a promise?” Grace was excited, even if he seemed nervous about something. She knew that if she asked she may be met with a generic ‘you’ll understand when you’re older’. Did Grace even know anything about Mary? Just that she shared the name of the woman that her dad used to work with but she didn’t know much else. Let alone that Matt behind here was going to throw her dad into a whirlwind. More so than Uncle Steve does on a daily basis. “ Uncle Matt? ”
