Attention fanfiction writers for multiple fandoms! I have a very, and I mean VERY important question for you…

How do you manage writing for JUST 1 fic at the time without switching between your fandoms every now and then? 🫠 cause I’m torn between 1 work that’s on my mind 60% of the time (first it was 90 but I hit a wall called troublesome scenes so my motivation dropped) and the rest 30% is divided between 4 works that I’m still brainstorming and the other 15+ ideas that I’ve only pointed out in „1-2 rough sentences of plot idea but I don’t want to forget them so I have to write them down”-style

Still watching anime, reading mangas every now and then. Current overfixation: Kingdom - surprisingly, I’m following it with EVERY chapter since getting up to date with chapter 838 despite thinking I’ve grown out of weekly/biweekly reading

+ induldging in China’s Warring States period, because of Kingdom… and brainstorming fanfiction ideas, cause AO3 has only 50 stories for it so I’ll be forced to write something myself 🤣

And the said manga is Kaiju no. 8 if anyone’s interested cause some tags under posts about Hoshina got me wondering what will happen to him and now I have some ideas 🫠

Someone mentioned this in tags recently but it's a bummer how much Psycho-Pass 2's reputation was impacted by people who had a greater interest in the dynamic between Kougami and Shougo than they did the other characters and worldbuilding. While S2 is different (shorter, different rhythm, some new cast and a different goal of course), whether those differences are better or worse than S1 is actually not that objective, and some people actually liked those aspects of S2 better than they did their "equivalents" in S1. Unfortunately, a mix of "a lot of people who were only here for Kougami" and "a few people who happened to dislike those different elements of writing" gives off this strong image that S2 was the type of bad sequel that ruins a series. That's just not the case. It's a sequel that's different from the first season - you may or may not like it, just like you may or may not like any story.

I guess there's Mika too. Despite Tsunemori remaining the hero, people just aren't comfortable with a flawed woman protagonist in my opinion. I believe the ways in which people hate on her go beyond just not enjoying her role or her character.

I'm defending S2 here, but the fans who were only ever interested in Kougami or Shinkane (the heterosexual non canon ship in a story that just isn't about building a romantic bond at all) (... sorry, the end of this paragraph should explain why I'm a little annoyed by it) remain to this day despite the fact that new story arcs and new protagonists and other major characters have been introduced since. I'm a huge fan of Psycho-Pass but I just can't find ways to interact with the fandom much, at least on here, because it feels like viewers are ignoring the anime in favour of these two characters. Trying to talk about the new stories and characters feels lonely, looking at the tag is a confusing experience that lacks any commentary on what you just watched and just focuses on exaggerations of a ship. I'm aromantic on top of being a fan of the new stories so it feels a special type of lonely.

I jumped into season 2 right away after watching season 1 cause it was still airing at the time, it had 5-6 episodes at most and thought how lucky I am that I loved season 1 so dearly and it turned out that it had new episodes that I could see right away. I must admit that back then I HATED s2, mostly because of lack of Kogami and because of Mika, and that it had a bit of a different approach to the story than season 1 but I couldn’t comprehend it way back in 2014.

I tried rewatching s2 a few years later, even before Sinners of the System and season 3 were announced, but it still wasn’t the right time for me to actually watch it. Last year I rewatched the whole franchise and I forced myself to see season 2 from beginning to end.

And guess what, this time I liked it much better than before 😂 it added to worldbuilding and focused on different matters than season 1 so it gave us a bit more insight on the franchise. Also we have Mika - yes, the one I so passionately hated during first watch 😂 suddenly me being over 10 years older than her in s2 gave me the perspective that she was acting exactly her age and in her position as one of the youngest (if not indeed the youngest) inspector who believed in system wholeheartedly and wanted to prove herself useful to Sybil, even though her ways wasn’t exactly the best ones.

Also I grew out of my Shinkane googles that I kept for a few long years and many rewatches for season 1, 2015 movie and the rest of the franchise. During first watch of s1 I saw it purely as a romantic ship and it stayed that way for long years. Now I still see the potential in it, but definitely not to that extent as when I was an idealistic teenager 😂 also now I’m pretty surprised how most viewers overlook the fact that Kogami was so focused on hunting down Makishima (not to say obsessed) that I highly doubt he even realized how infatued Akane was with him, and if he did, it probably happened somewhere around the timeline of the movies.

There’s soooo many plot points I’d also love to add but it would made this post an even longer essay instead of a comment so in order not to get off topic too much, I stop here 😂

Guess who finally could watch Psycho Pass Providence

Yes it’s about me 🤣

I’ve been already 9 years into the fandom and considering how many other fandoms I’m in, Psycho Pass always remains as one of my top of the tops -alongside Shingeki no Kyojin-.

What’s more important is that when I rewatched lately some series I enjoyed during my late teens/early twenties, I found them just „different” from my first or second views a few years ago. And Psycho Pass, especially season 1, is one of the few constant titles that I’m regularly going back to. Of course I changed my views on some plot points and/or characters through the years, but they still make sense to me, some of them even more than before (*cough*for example Mika Shimotsuki*cough*)

(For the context: I mean that I rewatch it literally every year, seriously, it’s like it’s became part of my genetics that whenever it’s October/November - the months I’ve seen s1 for the first time - I get that feeling that I need to rewatch the series AGAIN 😂 I often omitted S2 from watching again but hey, this year I saw it for the second time so I guess that counts as a success 🤣)

But back to Providence - I think that I need a proper rewatch before my -final- opinion, even though I spoiled myself with most events when the movie came out in May.

Now all I can say is that I find some things differently than the fandom right after the premiere and that for me it feels like it’s a transition chapter between, let’s say, Psycho-Pass Part 1 (from S1 to Sinners of the System series) and Psycho-Pass Part 2 (S3 and First Inspector) - probably just how it should be viewed if it has both old and the new cast, lol 🤣 but the „transition” part really hit me after credits rolled on my TV screen.

Okay, rambling’s off, I just needed to get it out of my system 😂
