Experimenting with joining infinity scarves! This joining is two scraps of vintage lace made in New England (at least according to the label on them at the thrift store, but I tend to trust that thrift store) and a hand embroidered patch made by one of my favorite regular customers. I'll work on cross stitch while I'm at Markets and she'll come see my progress and hand me some of her newest work "Now don't say no, this stuff won't do me any good just laying around. Go and make something with it." (So much of my business is based on saying "Yes Ma'am" to older women!)

Alanna shivered as she gazed over the choppy waters of Pirate's Swoop. She knew that she hadn't been the best mother, but seeing Aly THRIVING like that, in a way that she had never seen her daughter glow... "Lass, you'll catch a chill," George said as a warm woolen shawl was wrapped around her shoulders. "Copper for your thoughts?" Alanna tilted her head back against the chest, no less solid than when she had first done so, even after all these years. "Contemplating mistakes made, planning battle strategies to prevent them being made again." George's fingers laced into hers, creating a protective shield wall around her growing belly. "I've been contemplating much the same," he admitted. Alanna smiled up at him, then turned her attention to the warm shawl he had placed around her. "This is new." That half smirk she loved on him flashed quickly in the dark. "Aye, well, I may have been trying to find clothing in the shade of your eyes. The weaver down the way finally managed to get it." "Don't tell me the Whisper Man is going soft on me?" "For you and our little ones, lass? Always."

I am a woman in the way tolkiens dwarves are women. Treasured and protected for my rarity. 

I am a man in the way an English paper about Samwise Gamgee being the Jesus to Tom Bombadill's Eru Valar makes too many good points. 

I am non-binary in the fanfic tropes that halfling is a queer slur, and hobbits hold the gender binary to be big folk nonsense 

I am gender fluid in that Boromir and Celebrimbor are terrifyingly, devastatingly, achingly relatable. 

I am demi gendered in that the events of the Silmarilleon would have been a lot shorter if Galadriel was allowed to just stab people. 

I am agender in that way that Faramir looks at Eowyn and Eowyn looked at Death. 

But all that is a bit of a mouthful so I just say hobbitcore agender whatever pronouns are fine, but I prefer he/they.

"OMG Took, why don't you mask your neurodivergence more, you'd make more sales?!?!" Dude... I don't have the energy to have HAIR. Why the frickity-frack would I spend time and energy manually lowering the clarity of my communication? Also no I wouldn't. Part of my appeal to my customers is that they can know EXACTLY who and what they're getting.

I've got a pocket, gotta pocket full of sunshine! This merino blend scarf was so much fun to weave. 3 different balls of yarn for the warp, and then a fuzzy merino, and a smoother merino, thin ply yarns for the warp creating a beautiful, subtle mottled effect.

Worth of secondhand yarn and fabric scraps out of the landfills and turned into beautiful and functional art.

This isn't meant to be a flex, or a "oh look how cool I am" but rather intended as a "You, as an individual, cannot save the world. But you as an individual, when working with others can make a darn big difference."

I love this sweater's story. I was at the Northampton Farmers' Market and a gentleman realized that I only wove with thrifted and secondhand materials and was SO excited! He collected wool sweaters from thrift stores, and this one had come to him with damage. We discussed it and it was agreed that I would mend it and pass it on to "who it really belonged to." Once mended the sweater traveled around Northampton in the back of my partners' subaru until that person turned out to be the cool person who sold mushrooms at that and other markets. Last I knew it was put away for the warmer months, but will pop back up once the autumn chill comes upon us!
