Rules
Simple Living and off the grid always!
You can now have bathtubs (not showers) and toilets (clay pots) in your home.
If you are playing as a female sim you cannot leave your home without a male relative as your escort.
War was common so often young men (teens/YA) would be sent off to train or go to war. (Will have to roll to see what men in your family get drafted and if they make it back home alive)
Women were expected to provide as many male heirs as possible to their husbands.
Welcome to Ancient Greece! This era lasted from 1200 BC to 146 BC. Â but for this playthrough we will be starting somewhere around 50-30 B.C. Ancient Greece was well known as one of the most influential ancient civilizations and saw significant advancements in both arts and sciences, with contributions that continue to influence Western culture, including philosophy, mathematics, astronomy, medicine, and various art forms like sculpture and architecture. With men spending most of their days going to Agoras (a town center) to drink, go to theater showings, and go to classes about different sciences. While women stayed home tending to the home and children while servants tended the fields and upkeep of the home.
Contrary to their Egyptian counterparts the Greeks valued cleanliness and often bathed in bath houses or had their own washing rooms in their home, with the wealthy having more elaborate bathing chambers. They didn't have modern soap but they would soak in tubs using oils and ashes to scent and wash themselves. When it came to using the bathroom middle and upper class families would have sitting benches with holes underneath and lower wealth families would use clay pots.
Even though medical practices were more common during this time, infant mortality was still high, but if they made it past their childhood some would live to their 50s or longer. To help with the high infant mortality on average, women gave birth to at least 6-8 children in their lifetime but only had maybe 3 make it to adulthood.
Common causes of death for individuals in this era were; Malaria, Mumps, Leprosy, Plagues, and Work-related injuries especially for those who worked in mining, metal working, and stone carving.

Reasons to Roll
Sims Aging Up & Childbirth.
Every time your sim ages up or gives birth to a new child you have to roll a D20 to see if they live or die. Below is a chart that will tell you what numbers rolled with a D20 cause the sim to die.
Sick Emote (Slice of Life / Get To Work)
If your sim becomes sick you must roll to see if it is the plague, malaria, or tuberculosis. You could also choose to play with the mod Deadly Sicknesses and it will auto pick which sickness you get. In this Era you now have access to doctors and medicine so your chances of living were better but not great. Or you could live with your sickness longer before it eventually takes you.
If it was a plague then there is a 75% chance of death.
Roll a D12. If you roll a 1, 6, or 12 you live.Â
If it was malaria, or tuberculosis you have a 50% chance of instant death.
Roll a dice. Odds you die, Evens you live but you continue to live the rest of your life with the disease. Everyday you must consume garlic or honey. And doll a D20 every day. If you roll a 1 the disease finally takes you and you die.
If it was the common cold you have a 25% chance of death.
Roll a D4. If you roll a 1 you die. Any other number you live but you must have your sim rest for a full day where they can do no other activities. And drink plenty of fluids
If you have Get To Work and your sim gets strange markings on their skin they have leprosy and must visit a doctor and get medicine to treat it.
Treatment: if you play a historical save, you can brew a new potion with the herbalism skill (+6) to try and cure the sickness, this doesn't assure you that you will overcome it, but it gives a boost to your sim body... you still have to wait and see. If the illness is already too advanced then the potion will not work (from the second buff on). Your sims can also heal on their own, but it should be rare. If you want to be sure to cure the illness, then you can purchase a vaccine from the computer. The vaccine gives you the immunity from every illness in the mod. Scarlet Fever can be contracted only once... it your sim get it and survives, they cannot contract it again. There are no cures for Toddlers, but they are more likely to overcome the illnesses on they own. Same goes for NPCs (but they can start a pandemic).
Napping: resting will slow down the symptoms or actively bring them back if your sim has enough rest, while intense activities will speed them up.
Alimentation: tea, water, honey and healthy food will slow down the sickness, while bar drinks and junk food will speed it up.
Drafted into War
Every male child once they become a teen can be drafted to join the king's army and go to war for their country.
When a male ages into a teen, roll the dice to see if they are drafted into the king's army.Â
Odds, they avoid being sent to the army.
Evans, they must leave home to join the army.
If they are enlisted you must roll D20 to see if they return home when they become a Young Adult.
Roll a 3, 10, or 17 they die while serving their country. Any other number and they return home scarred but alive.

Getting Started
In this era we will be exploring low, middle, and high class living along with Olympic games, War, and interacting with the Gods!
The Gods: The Gods were viewed as powerful beings with human-like qualities, emotions, and flaws, but also with immense power and influence over the natural world and human affairs.
Upper Class: The upper class, known as the "aristoi" or "citizens," were primarily landowning, wealthy, and powerful, holding political and military authority and spent their days building their knowledge and wealth.
Middle Class: The middle class were free, non-citizen residents, who engaged in trade, and crafts, holding some rights but lacking political power and land ownership.
Lower Class: The lower class consists of people who were deemed poor and had to work very hard to earn a living. Mainly spending their time farming, tending to their sheep and goats, and fishing off the ports.
Even lower were servants and beggars. For more of a challenge you can start as a homeless beggar with no money and work your way up to lower class.

______________________________
I recommend starting with a household consisting of 2 brothers and their wives.
Lower Class:
Start $100 Simoleans and a small home, no personal bathroom to start (bath at bath houses) or have a wooden tub outside along with a pot to use the restroom in. You may also choose to use the public bath house in town.
Men in the family must start as either a shepherd (sheep/goats), farmer, or a fisherman. If you have multiple men or sons in your family you can do multiple ways of living. But your male heir should focus on refining a skill of their choice as they grow. (Pottery, Wood crafting, jewelry making, nectar… etc.)
Women in the family focus on keeping the house clean and having many children (at least 1 male heir). Cooking mainly meals of bread, grains and fish.
Have at least 1 male child make it into adulthood and marry into a middle class family. Most marriages were arranged by the parents.Â
If one of your female children is marrying into another family your household must provide a dowry of $1000 to marry.
If one of your male children is marrying into another family the bride's parents give you $1000 Simoleans to help support their daughter's new life.
Don't forget to pay your taxes (bills) to your landlord since you can’t own your own land yet.
Middle Class:
You should be starting in a slightly better home and at least $1000 Simoleans to your name. Your home can now have a simple bathroom inside the home consisting of 1 bathtub and a pot to defecate in.
As the male heir of the family you grew up having more time to become skilled in a trade of your choice;
Pottery
Jewelry making
Carpentry
Nectar Making
It is your job to craft items to take to the Agora (Town Center Market) and sell your goods to other citizens. You can also take any fish/farm animal sellables to the Agora to sell along with items you craft.
Women in the family focus on keeping the house clean and having many children (at least 1 male heir). Cooking mainly meals of bread, grains and fish.
You aim to build your wealth as much as possible so you can afford a life of more splendor for your child so that they may dedicate themselves to their physical training and win the Olympics!
Have at least 1 male child make it into adulthood and arrange for them to marry a woman of Upper Class. Most marriages were arranged by the parents.Â
Your male heir must find a wife of the Upper Class to marry. Her family will provide $5000 of dowry to help start their new life together.
Upper Class:
Due to your wife's family you have been given a fine home and at least $5000 Simoleans to start your new life. Your home can now have a lavish bathing room inside the home consisting of a large indoor pool/hot tub. A soaking tub, a pot to defecate in. You also may hire servants to help tend to things at home since you will be spending most of your time in the Greek Agora with the other male citizens.
In your young adult years you spend your days training for the honor to compete in the Olympics as you work to reach peak physical fitness. You train in endurance races, boxing, and lifting weights to help you with this. Â
When you reach level 10 Fitness you may enter this year's Olympic games and make the journey to where the games are held!
The Olympics
You may want to temporarily move your sim into a separate household with other sims you want to be their opponents.
Each event has a Gold (1st), Silver (2nd), and Bronze (3rd) Medal.
Gold Medal - 10 Points
Silver Medal - 5 Points
Bronze Medal - 3 Points.
Must Compete in each of the events
Endurance Race
Have all competing sims start on one side of the map and race to a finish line on the other side of the map or designated area. Try to line them all up in the same position and start them at the same time.
Another way you can test endurance is to have all participants get on a treadmill at the same time and the last to get off wins.
Fighting/Wrestling matches
Have your sim fight each of their opponents to see who will come out with the most Wins!
Horse Racing / Chariot Races
If you have Horse Ranch pack you can have at least 4 sims ride on horseback and race to a specific location or finish line.
If you have the Bikes are horses mod you can have your sims ride chariots (Bikes) instead.
Or you can do both!
Darts
This event will stand in as our Javelin throwing contest.
Have each sim face one another playing darts. The sim with the most wins is victorious.
The Minotaur's Maze
For this final event make a winding maze and have each sim race to get through it first in one of two ways…
You can either select all sims to run to the end/center and see who gets there first or
You can put a reward item at the end. This could be a bed/food/entertainment object etc. And have each of your sims start at the beginning.Â
Allow each sim to use their free will to make it through the maze at their own pace.
To spice things up you could also make a Minotaur sim to be an obstacle in the maze. If a sim encounters the Minotaur they must roll a dice to see if they get in an altercation with them. For this roll a D4
1 They escape the Minotaur unscathed.
2 They distract the Minotaur by pointing at the stars, outsmarting the Minotaur and are able to run away.
3 Your sim pees themself in fear and the Minotaur is so disgusted they leave you.
Your sim has a bladder failure but lives.
4 The Minator Attacks them.
Flip a coin. Heads you win and live.
Tails the sim is killed by the Minotaur.
If you sim receives the most Gold Medals or collective points they are the winner!
First Place - 10K Simoleons
Second Place - 5K Simoleons
Third Place - 3K simoleons
When you return home from the games you decide to retire from your training and dedicate your adulthood to pleasure. You spend most of your days at the Agora drinking, enjoying the local arts, listening to political debates, and socializing with friends and maybe even the pleasures of other sims that aren't your partner… Maybe even earning the attention from one of the Gods.
Have at least one child later in life with one of the Gods.
This child is immune to the death rolls (unlike their human siblings) since they are a demigod.
You must still find suitable partners for all your other surviving children.
If one of your female children is marrying into another family your household must provide a dowry of $1000 to marry.
If one of your male children is marrying into another family the bride's parents give you $1000 simoleons to help support their daughter's new life.
You can now own your own land and no longer need to pay taxes (bills).
One of the Gods:
You are a special child. One born from a human and a God. This makes you a demigod. Your father was famous among the locals at the Agora for their performance (for good or bad) in the olympics. Because of this they were always away from home, and you had free reign to grow up doing whatever you wanted. Your “mother” never cared for you because you weren't her real child. She just helped raise you because she didn't want to anger the Gods, but it was obvious she cared more for her real children.Â
The servants tried their best to help raise you as well but due to your magical abilities they were not much help either…
Depending on which God/Goddess is your parent can help you decide what special powers your demigod child will have. This is up to you. Some demigod children in mythology had special powers such as increased strength, were physically stunning, had magical abilities, or had any number of special qualities. To make your demigod feel even more special you can make them an occult like spellcaster or mermaid.
This generation's path is up to you to be as creative as you want! Will they have to fight and prove themselves a hero? Travel to far off lands and have great adventures? Will they be good? Will they be mischievous? Will they be evil? Will they fall in love with a human, God, or some other mythical creature? The choice is yours. When you are ready you can move on to the next Era!
